Recalls- Electrical system and trailer brakes. (NHTSA Recall 20V563000) Forest River recalled certain 2018-2021 Salem trailers due to the break-away safety switch possibly not wired to constant power, which causes trailer brakes not to activate if the trailer separates from the tow vehicle. 4397 vehicles affected. This raises crash risk from loss of vehicle control. Dealers will rewire the switch free of charge.
- Fire extinguisher malfunction. (NHTSA Recall 17V756000) Kidde plastic-handle or push button fire extinguishers may clog or require excessive force to operate, and nozzles may detach, causing injury and failure to discharge. 365,885 vehicles affected including 2018 Salem models. Owners will be instructed to obtain free replacements from Kidde.
- Label inaccuracies for tire size. (NHTSA Recall 17V790000) Federal placards incorrectly list tire size as ST215/75R15 when actual installed tires are ST205/75R15 on certain 2018 Salem trailers. 133 vehicles affected. Incorrect labels could impair handling. Corrected placards will be provided at no cost.
- Label inaccuracies for tire pressure. (NHTSA Recall 18V232000) Certain 2018 Salem trailers have Federal placards stating tire pressure at 54 PSI instead of the correct 65 PSI. 24 vehicles affected. Underinflated tires increase crash risk. Corrected placards have been issued free of charge.

(NHTSA Recall 17V282000) Some 2017-2018 Salem trailers have incorrect tire and rim information on placards, along with inaccurate GAWR and GVWR data. 71 vehicles affected. Incorrect info can lead to incorrect replacements or overloading. Corrected placards will be provided free.
- Trailer electrical wiring for break-away safety. (NHTSA Recall 18V550000) Wiring for break-away safety switch may disconnect from battery, preventing trailer brakes from activating if the trailer detaches. 5847 vehicles affected spanning 2014-2019 models including 2018 Salem. Dealers will install new wiring harnesses at no cost.
- Outside shower faucet coverage. (NHTSA Recall 18V436000) Auxiliary shower covers may block the water heater exhaust panel on some 2016-2018 Salem trailers, increasing injury risk. 326 vehicles affected. Dealers will replace the outside shower free of charge.
- Trailer hitch wiring and break-away switch. (Duplicate of NHTSA Recall 20V563000) See electrical system entry.
