2022 FOREST RIVER ROCKWOOD Complaints and Recall Information
The 2022 FOREST RIVER ROCKWOOD has 2 complaints and 3 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with the spare tire cable loosening during travel, causing the spare tire to bounce beneath the camper while still attached. This condition creates a potential road hazard if the tire detaches fully.
- Spare tire cable failure. The cable securing the spare tire underneath the camper unwound during travel, allowing the tire to bounce on the road while still attached. Attempts to tighten the cable prior to trips did not prevent the issue.
There are 3 recalls affecting the 2022 FOREST RIVER ROCKWOOD. These address defects in the LP gas system and the axle installation, impacting fuel safety and brake performance.
- LP gas system fittings. (NHTSA Recall 22V243000) About 99,190 vehicles, including this model, are recalled due to potentially cracked quick disconnect fittings in the LP gas system. The crack may cause gas leaks, which increase the risk of fire. Dealers will replace fittings and inspect the LP system free of charge.
- Axle installation defect. (NHTSA Recall 22V558000) Approximately 244 campers, including 2022-2023 Rockwood tent campers, may have axles installed backwards. This defect can reduce brake function and elevate crash risk. Dealers will inspect and reinstall axles properly at no cost.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues related to safety components may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting with a qualified attorney can help clarify those rights.

ID: 2111384TIRES:TEMPORARY/EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE
Spare tire attached by cable underneath camper came loose and was bouncing around on road while still attached to spare tire cable. I had tightened up the spare tire cable prior to our 95 mile trip home, but the cable unwound while traveling until the spare tire started bouncing on road. Fortunately we heard the noise before too much damage was done and we were fortunate the tire didn't come off and become a road hazard to anyone following us. I see on multiple social media postings where this is a known problem with other Geo Pro campers and should be fixed by Forest River through a recall due to the risk of the issue.
