2025 FORD RANGER Complaints and Recall Information
The 2025 FORD RANGER has 9 complaints and 15 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to the braking system, including brake pedal placement difficulties and failures of the anti-lock braking system (ABS). Some complaints involve warning lights and abnormal sounds during vehicle startup as well as delayed or unresponsive braking during driving.
Common Issues- Brake pedal design. The brake pedal sits too high causing obstructions under the dashboard that interfere with foot movement while braking, potentially delaying response times.
- ABS failure. Reports indicate the anti-lock braking system fails to operate during driving, including at low speeds and in inclement weather, increasing stopping distance.
- Brake failure warnings. The vehicle displays “Brake Failure” messages frequently, often linked to ABS module faults requiring software updates.
- Unresponsive brakes. Owners describe brakes not engaging immediately when pressed, causing collisions at low speeds despite audible warnings and dashboard alerts.
- Dashboard warnings and sounds. Several warning lights illuminate at startup accompanied by abnormal beeping, requiring system resets by dealers.
The vehicle is subject to 15 recalls affecting multiple systems including air bags, brakes, electrical, seating, and suspension components. The recalls reveal ongoing safety and mechanical concerns requiring free repairs or updates by dealers.
Recalls- Side curtain air bags. (NHTSA 25V541000) About 100,900 vehicles are affected by side curtain air bags that may tear during deployment due to contact with B-Pillar inner reinforcements. This defect increases injury risk. Dealers will install protective shields at no charge. Interim owner notifications were sent in September 2025. No "Do Not Drive" advisory applies.
- Electronic Brake Booster module. (NHTSA 25V488000) Approximately 312,120 vehicles may suffer a malfunction of the Electronic Brake Booster causing loss of power brake assist while driving or using driver assistance features. This raises crash risk by extending stopping distances. Software updates will be delivered over-the-air or by dealers free of charge. Letters were mailed in August 2025. No "Do Not Drive" advisory applies.
- Instrument panel configuration. (NHTSA 25V399000) Forty-five vehicles have improperly configured instrument panels that fail to display critical warnings or gauges, including collision alerts and fuel information, increasing crash risk. Dealers will update software free of charge. Owner notification was mailed in August 2025. No "Do Not Drive" advisory applies.
- Driver’s seat fasteners. (NHTSA 25V311000) Forty-six vehicles have loose or missing bolts securing the driver’s seat frame. This may prevent proper occupant restraint in a crash. Dealers will inspect and secure seat fasteners free of charge. Owners were notified in May 2025. No "Do Not Drive" advisory applies.
- Front upper control arm ball joint. (NHTSA 25V310000) About 4,497 vehicles may have missing or improperly tightened ball joint fasteners allowing detachment of the front upper control arm from the knuckle, risking loss of steering control. Dealers will inspect and repair fasteners free of charge. Notifications were sent in May 2025. No "Do Not Drive" advisory applies.
Owners dealing with repeated brake failures, safety system malfunctions, or unresolved recall repairs may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting with a consumer protection attorney could help clarify coverage options for these issues.

We were making a right through an intersection at a speed of 9MPH when the car in front of us hit their brakes unexpectedly. My 30 year old son was driving and felt like the brakes did not respond when he pressed them. My truck did not stop until it hit the car in front of us. It did start beeping just before impact and the dash lit up but the brakes didn’t engage until after impact.

The brake pedal sits too high and there are obstructions under the dashboard. I'm a size 10.5 shoe, when transitioning from gas to brake, I need to lift my foot, then when transitioning the top of my foot left, it hits braces/panels under the dash and delays my braking. It's possible under the worst of conditions, that this could be a factor in an accident.
