The 2007 FORD MUSTANG is subject to 63 recalls primarily affecting air bag inflator modules. These recalls address the risk of inflator rupture that may cause serious injury or death due to metal fragments striking occupants during deployment. Repair remedies typically involve free replacement of affected air bag inflators or modules by dealers.
Recalls
- Driver air bag inflator rupture. (NHTSA recall 15V319000) Over 1,018,622 vehicles affected due to moisture intrusion causing inflator rupture risk. Owners are advised not to drive until repair is completed. Dealers replace the driver’s frontal air bag inflator free of charge.
- Air bag inflator replacement parts defect. (NHTSA recall 21E013000) 249 vehicles recalled for defective replacement air bag inflators used in collision repairs. The propellant may degrade and cause inflator explosions, risking serious injury. Dealers provide free replacement parts to purchasers.
- Frontal air bag inflator defect. (NHTSA recall 21V081000) 1,067 vehicles affected with defective driver or passenger air bag inflators used as replacement parts. Risk of inflator explosion causing injury exists. Ford inspects and replaces inflators or modules as needed free of charge.
- Passenger air bag inflator rupture. (NHTSA recall 16V384000) Approximately 1,892,343 vehicles affected involving passenger air bag inflators that may rupture due to propellant degradation. Owners are advised not to drive until repairs are done. Dealers will replace inflators at no cost.
- Passenger air bag inflator rupture. (NHTSA recall 17V024000) 654,695 vehicles with defective passenger air bag inflators subject to rupture risk from propellant degradation. Owners should not drive vehicles until repaired. Dealers replace inflators free of charge; interim notices have been issued when parts were unavailable.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs, unresolved recall issues, or defects involving critical safety systems such as air bags may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting legal resources specialized in lemon law could be advisable in these circumstances.
