SEAT BELTS

I am getting a “rear seat belt monitor fault” warning on my dash accompanied by an air bag warning light. VISIBILITY/WIPER

Never in all my years of driving have I or anyone i know experienced a vehicle with such a sensitive windshield that cracks with even minimal impact. I've owned this Ford maverick for under 3 years with 3 chip repairs and 2 replacements. This is unfair to consumers as often we are not aware of this issue until it is too late to change undo the purchases on these vehicles and have to drive faulty vehicles. It's surprising that there's no recall already assessed for something that causes customers to have higher insurance premiums, constant damage that affects visibility and causes some to drive with these defects to avoid extra costs and wasted money. I am hopeful you can assist us consumers in having Ford rectifying these issues at no cost to us as their choice to use defective windshield glass has cost all of us. This issue is widely known by owners and discussed on social media forums in abundance. Dealers are aware of this issue and offer nothing but an attempt to purchase other vehicles. Minimal research on the internet provides an abundance of evidence. I thank you for your time and assistance in advance for this issue.

STRUCTURE:BODY

My 2022 Ford Maverick developed a water intrusion defect caused by improperly sealed body panels under the hood cowl. This defect allowed water to enter the cabin, pooling in the passenger-side floor pan and creating a persistent, extremely strong interior odor. A chemical treatment temporarily masked the smell, but it returned and worsens over time. The vehicle cannot be reasonably operated without rolling down the windows due to the odor, raising health and safety concerns. The defect was difficult to replicate, but eventually the servicing dealer confirmed that the leak occurs when the vehicle is parked or driven at a downward incline with the rear elevated. Repairs were completed at Greenway Ford (Orlando, FL) between August 14–21, 2025. The final invoice was $2,040.55. Ford only provided partial goodwill coverage, leaving me responsible for $918.25 + tax, and refused to cover replacement of the contaminated carpet and padding. I also incurred $312.94 in rental costs because the vehicle could not be safely used. This is not an isolated issue — multiple Maverick owners have reported the same cowl sealing defect on online owner forums. Water intrusion creates ongoing health risks (odor/mold exposure) and may also affect safety-critical electrical components or interior visibility. I request that NHTSA investigate this systemic defect in 2022 Ford Mavericks and evaluate whether a recall or service campaign is warranted.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I was at a stoplight, when the light turned green I went to press the gas and the whole car lost power and died. The car stalled and would not turn over again. The vehicle had power but would not start the engine. All the alerts were flashing on the dash and the car would not go into neutral, so I was stuck in the middle of the roadway. I followed the procedures to activate the manual override and place the car into neutral and the vehicle would still not move. The electrical brake would not allow the vehicle to move. We tried repeatedly to put the car into neutral to move out of an active roadway and would be able to push the vehicle about an inch before the electrical break would kick in again. The vehicle would not start regardless of what was attempted. We even disconnected the battery in hopes of either getting the vehicle into neutral (which did not work either) or restarting whatever was wrong with the electrical system and be able to start the truck. Nothing worked and the vehicle had to be hoisted by pulley onto a flat bed tow truck. Then required to be "shaken" off of the truck when it arrived at the Ford dealership.

POWER TRAIN

The CV axle (driver's side) started to fail before 22,000 miles on my 2022 Ford Maverick. When accelerating the vehicle would violently shake back and forth. The tires are starting to wear early due to the constant movement. If the CV axle was to break I would lose power and it could damage nearby components (brakes, brake lines, cooling lines). I would be stranded on the side of the road. I did not drive it until I could get to the dealer for a repair. The dealer was very aware of the problem. There were no warning, MIL, or any indication the part was failing. The problem is quite evident on line as most of these parts start to fail before 30,000 miles.0

The truck was fighting the drivers input even though the truck should deactivate the adaptive cruise control when manually taking over. The truck end up in the ditch and ran over a mailbox. The truck was inspected by Ford but they claimed nothing is wrong with it. It says in the manual that adaptive cruise control sometimes doesn't detect lines properly but when taking control the vehicle shouldn't continue to steer into a ditch. The Ford dealership were not able to get the same results because how can they when this problem doesn't happen all the time? The vehicle should not be fighting the driver instead it should of canceled the adaptive cruise control. It's very dangerous and I think needs to be looked into.

CV axles on front wheels defective resulting in shaking which is felt in the cabin while accelerating. If the CV axle were to fail completely could result in loss of control of the vehicle. The issue has been confirmed by the service department at the Ford dealership and is currently getting the work done to have the axles replaced. This is the second time that the CV axles have failed in this truck. The truck is 3 years old and has 65,000 mi on it. I previously had the CV axles replaced in May of 2024 The issue is not accompanied by any warning, lamps or trouble indicators. There's only a noticeable roughness or shaking inside the cabin while accelerating. I feel that Ford replaces the faulty CV axles with the same defective part and 12-15 months down the road I have to deal with replacing them again.

If it fails at the wrong time like during a turn on the highway, it could cause a serious accident. Plus the cost and inconvenience of repeated repairs continue to be an issue on such a new truck. Most owners report the same issue happening on Maverick forums. It seems lie this program is too common to be ignored. The battery had popped in the top front side, with battery liquid all over battery. No hazard lights, no putting into gear, only driver door operational at a very busy intersection. Flagging traffic and trying to call for new battery, very tough. Plant city Florida police arrived 20 minutes later. They waited with me until 40 minutes a battery arrived. I cleaned up acid with towel I had in front and tech changed battery. [THIS INCIDENT [XXX]- intersection [XXX] ] I can't express th [XXX] ot changing every battery thats compromised is beyond crazy. I paid $385 for the battery and spent $10 thousand of my life in that intersection. Fords are a lifetime of Dad's/my Family vehicle purchase history and I wish I had some of Ford Brass in the intersection with me. If they think they have a problem, I can guarantee it. Bartow Ford can't do anything because ( its Ford problem/remedy. I was discouraged they didn't say bring it in, but my buying any future product may be my remedy. Their were no warning lights, no smells from engine, no signs of any whisps of smoke coming up from hood. All I can finish with is when it happens, your out of business completely, where ever your at. The tech took the battery and I didn't take a picture because getting out of traffic was No.1. You can't sit inside and read your manual, with no emergency hazards at a busy intersection. You won't get this adrenaline rush/anxiety on a Universal thrill ride. This is possibly more information regarding the known back-up camera recall NHTSA 24V684. After backing out of a parking space 1/26/2025, the camera froze (not the first time) and this time a message appeared in the upper left corner that read: "Indexing Nexus". I have also had on other occasions times where the Infotainment system itself would freeze with no warning and when the back up camera was not in use. I suspect the recall addressing the camera issue is only part of this and that the system itself has issues not related to the camera. Pressing and holding the POWER and Fast Forward buttons forcing a system restart restored usability.

My husband was driving on a highway going 55 mph when the engine light came on and then the car completely shut off and died and would not start. It left him stranded on the highway with no shoulder at -35F. Ford now tells me they cant even look at the vehicle to see what is wrong until April 2025.

STEERING

Front CV axles. Front end shakes really bad at 30-50 mph. Dealer changed front passenger side CV axle but it still shakes really bad. I'll be bringing it back to the dealership, but warranty expires soon they need to have a recall and a better replacement part for this fix. I am not the only one with this problem.
