2006 FORD GT Complaints and Recall Information

The 2006 FORD GT has 0 complaints and 60 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to air bag inflators, primarily concerning deployment risks and inflator ruptures that may cause injury.

There are 60 recalls affecting multiple systems, with a predominant focus on air bag inflators. These recalls address defects involving propellant degradation and moisture intrusion that increase the risk of inflator rupture during deployment. Repairs generally involve replacing defective air bag inflators or modules at no cost to owners.

  • Air bag inflator rupture risk. Recall 14V787000 affects 410 vehicles in humid regions where passenger side frontal air bag inflators may rupture upon deployment, projecting metal fragments that could injure occupants. Repairs replace the inflators free of charge.
  • Driver air bag inflator defect. Recall 15V319000 involves over 1 million vehicles including the 2006 GT. Moisture intrusion may cause the driver frontal air bag inflator to rupture, posing a serious injury risk. Owners are advised not to drive until repairs are completed which include inflator replacement.
  • Replacement air bag inflator failures. Recall 21V081000 covers 1,067 vehicles with driver or passenger frontal air bag inflators installed as replacement parts. Propellant degradation from environmental exposure may cause the inflators to explode, risking severe injury. Dealers inspect and replace modules or inflators as needed.
  • Passenger air bag inflator rupture. Recall 17V024000 includes 654,695 vehicles with passenger frontal air bag inflators subject to rupture after long-term exposure to humidity and temperature changes. Ford advises owners against driving until replacement inflators are installed.

Owners of the 2006 FORD GT dealing with repeated safety repairs or who have unresolved recall issues may have legal rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a qualified attorney specializing in consumer protection and lemon law could assist in understanding those rights.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2005-2014 Mustang, 2004-2011 Ranger, 2009-2011 Mercury Milan, 2006 Ford GT, 2008-2012 Fusion, 2007-2010 Edge and Lincoln MKX, and 2009-2010 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. These vehicles may be equipped with a driver or passenger frontal air bag inflator used as a replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

Risk: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the frontal air bag, an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
