Risk: A brake fluid leak will increase brake pedal travel and extend the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Risk: A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Fiesta, 2014-2016 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles sold, or ever registered in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Washington, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

Risk: A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, 2015-2016 Ford Edge, and 2016 Lincoln MKX vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.

Risk: If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist, requiring a greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles. In the event of a crash, heat from the deployment of a seat belt pretensioner may cause a front seat belt anchor cable to fail.

Risk: A failed seat belt anchor cable cannot properly restrain the front seat occupants, increasing their risk of injury.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles equipped with 2.5 liter engines. The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission may degrade over time and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.

Risk: If the vehicle is exited without the transmission being in Park and without the parking brake being applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of a crash.

Risk: A steering wheel detachment can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured February 3, 2012, to March 20, 2015, and 2015 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 26, 2015, to February 28, 2015, and originally sold, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, snow or water containing road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.

Risk: If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist. Loss of power steering assist would require a higher steering effort, especially at lower speeds, which may increase the risk of a crash.

BACK OVER PREVENTION

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that on several occasions while in reverse(R), the back over prevention camera froze, and the screen went black. The contact stated that via an online tutorial video, she became aware that there was a wire failure in the front driver’s seat. The contact stated that on several occasions when the screen went black and or froze, the front driver’s seat was moved back and forth, and eventually the camera worked normally. Additionally, the contact stated that when the driver’s seat was moved back and forth and there were no changes, the vehicle would be driven on an incline, and the camera worked normally. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I have a 2015 Ford Fusion Ecoboost t back in 2019 took it to Ford for regular maintenance and they told me it had a recall for another engine (coolant intrusion) at that time I had no problem with my car so needless to say I was shocked . Now 2026 August 15 my car shuts down coolant temperature warning comes on , I pulled over had a mechanic look at it and he tells me the head gasket is no good coolant intrusion This is a safety issue and cars could catch on fire üî• Called Ford they said nothing they can do . All I can say is shame on Ford they need to do the right thing and fix these Safety issues.

My rear backup camera has been malfunctioning for several months now. When it decides to work at all, it flips the image from left to right and vice versa. Other times the backup camera doesn’t even work. And sometimes it has yellowish lines going through the images which distorts other cars behind me even more. Ford needs to fix this at no cost to me. There’s a recall on their other backup cameras in other Ford models. Not sure why the 2015 ford fusion wasn’t included in this recall because it’s doing the same thing - flipping the images, which makes it confusing when I’m backing up my car.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the engine overheating warning light illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle, and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that an engine sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred 2 more times. The contact stated that during recent failure, there was a misfire coming from the engine and the engine was idling rough. The vehicle was driven to the same mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there was coolant intrusion into the engine block, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.

The contact stated that a certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and stated there were fragments of the bushing found. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the gear shifter had failed; however, the repair was no longer covered under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

The rear camera does not function properly on my 2015 Ford Fusion. When I try to use it, it either turns into a black screen or the message reads that "rear camera is unavailable", which has almost caused me to collide with another vehicle several times as I was trying to back up. I understand that there is a national recall for Ford Fusion vehicles from 2018 on for exactly the same reason. However, even though my Ford Fusion is a 2015, it demonstrates the same problem as the newer models listed in the recall. I would like to have my camera replaced (at no charge) as well, since I am dealing with the same safety hazard as the models listed in the national recall. We purchased a used car for my son to use in college. While driving on the hwy, the car started loosing power and just died on the side of the road. He was towed towed to a Ford dealer and was told he was leaking coolant into cylinder #4, which is a KNOWN PROBLEM AT FORD and an active recall for model years 2016-2018. Our 2015 has the identical failure mode and is not covered in the recall!! We were told $9000 to replace the engine block ... It only has 84,000 miles on it!!!!

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES

The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the door latch cable needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. In addition, the contact stated that as a temporary fix, the front passenger’s door was held closed with an extension cord but remained slightly open. The manufacturer was made not aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,359.

The contact stated that while attempting to depress the brake pedal, the brake pedal was loose. There was an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, was unable to confirm when the parts would become available. The failure mileage was 126,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

STEERING

I changed my battery at 105,000 miles with everything working fine electronically for my 2015 Fusion. Been a great car up to this issue. After installing the correct battery, the power steering turned off and hasn't come back on. Took to dealership, they replaced a connection cable at their suggestion and still were unable to reset the power steering. That's where it should have ended tho. They want me to further come back to run more tests??? Something seems very defective to me and from social media reports of other Fusion owners and the nhtsa investigations, a power steering recall should be warranted. I have been a car owner for 40 years and never experienced this inconvenience. I think Ford is getting away with inferior electronics and passing the expense back to the consumer. It should be an easy fix but not one at $4000 (getting a new steering rack) just to change a battery?? :-( Please help!

POWER TRAIN

Unintenional rollaway due to detached and degraded shift cable bushing. My car jerked me into a half spot when I pulled up to work this am. Upon looking, it would not go in gear at all. The gear shift says that it's in park and the dashboard says it's in neutral. Upon opening the hood and examining, I found that the bushing on the transmission cable was broken. I had no way to go so I called the Ford dealership and had someone let me pay over the phone for the part and I sent a coworker to pick up. Then I called a tow truck to tow my vehicle to Total Tire Care in Statesboro Georgia. I am going to have to pay the labor fee and also be without a vehicle all day. There are several 2015 Ford Fusions that have had a recall on this very part - but not my VIN. I think this needs to be changed and I should be able to have the cable inspected and replaced as needed.

I was driving on the highway in my car stop going then it start rolling backwards a little then i hit the breaks then put in park in put it back in drive then it started driving again then my brake lights came on and didn’t go off for about a week I have to unhook the battery I have a 8 year old son I was on the way to the hospital because my grand father was on life support when all this took place there was trucks going around us we almost got hit my three car thank god I made it home safe then I got. Home in my car just keep getting load as if I’m hitting the car there’s a load sound it makes when I start it up in i dont feel safe driving it … when out it being check out i really need some one to look at it

ENGINE

The vehicle started to over heat because the vehicle is loosing antifreeze through the head/engine block wall. This is a 1.5L Ecoboost motor. I had the water pump and radiator lines replaced 2022 by Gorilla Techs, but that did not fix the issue. It has progressively gotten worse over the course of two years. Other Ford owners, they have had engine repairs covered. However, the recommend solution is to replace the engine with a long block engine. This repair is a result of poor engineering. A new engine from Ford is priced at $6,000 and does not include labor or other one time use parts and fluids.

The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the RPM became elevated, the engine revved up, and there was an abnormally loud clunking or thumping sound before the transmission shifted into gear and the vehicle accelerated. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that there were contaminants in the transmission fluid, making the transmission fluid dark, and causing the transmission to fail. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000. The VIN was not available.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

While driving car it begins to shaking and unable to accelerate than cuts off, will sometimes restart and can drive but does the same thing again, during this process a wrench symbol and check engine light come on. Had spark plugs replaced the first time, still was doing it. Also the throttle body removed and cleaned continued, so replaced throttle completely it’s been 2 days no issue so far, but the car belongs to my daughter and it happened while she was driving car was purchased used a year ago, this is the first time we had this issue not sure if previous owners experienced same issues.

ENGINE

My 2015 Ford Fusion with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine experienced a complete engine failure due to a coolant intrusion in cylinder 3, which is consistent with Ford TSB 20-2100. In December 2023, I brought the car to the dealership due to rough starting and a non-start issue. No coolant related codes were detected at the time. In May 2025, the vehicle began running roughly and showed codes PO316 and PO303. The dealership diagnosed low coolant and coolant intrusion into cylinder 3, with a rust and fouled spark plug. I believe this is a progressively safety-related engine defect that can lead to sudden loss of power and unsafe driving conditions.

I only have 85k miles on my 2015 Ford Fusion. One day the check engine light came on, my car started stalling, shaking, and making noise. I stopped the car and checked the engine- coolant was exhausted. Upon taking to get it checked- the head gasket and short block were blown/cracked. The coolant had leaked into the engine. This should not have happened on a car with this low of mileage. I did my research and this is a well known issue for Ford Fusions during this time range. I called Ford and they told me there is nothing that they could do.

After check engine light and the coolant fluid low light came on, I took it to a ford dealership and was told that they found there was a coolant leak which caused the engine to fail and that the short engine block needed to be replaced and it would be 9000 dollars to repair. so we are now faced with paying for a repair that is double what the car is worth or get a new car. there was never a recall for the coolant leak even though Ford knows its a known issue.

Cable and bushing detached for a third time. I called ford and they said there was not a recall for this issue. I’ve read in multiple places that this has happened to a lot of ford fusions.

The misfires cause rough running, hesitation, and potential stalling, especially during startup and acceleration. This creates dangerous situations in traffic, such as loss of power while merging or crossing intersections, increasing the risk of a collision. Both technicians concluded the engine has coolant intrusion and recommended a short block replacement as the only viable fix. I was quoted approximately $10,000 for the repair. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer (Ford), but despite acknowledging this is a known issue with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine in various Ford models, they are unwilling to assist with covering the cost of the repair in my case. The Check Engine Light initially came on intermittently and then became constant. To keep it short. This is 1 of 3 Ford vehicles that I had to pay to have every lug nut replaced! They are 'swollen' is the term used. Prior to this, I replaced 1 lug in my 45 year driving history and that was because it broke off. I have called Ford and Lincoln and they are aware of the problem but say there is not program in place for a resolution. My complaint was escalated I was told. Hahaha. Their hand needs to be forced. They are not going to willingly do the right thing going forward nor address refunds! They have 'escalated' all 3 of my issues. In March of 2022 the engine failed on the vehicle. When I took it in for repairs, at the dealership where we purchased the car, I was told the engine needed to be replaced because coolant had leaked into the motor. I was told when the repairs were made I would not have this problem anymore. Three years later the same issue has occurred again and I took the vehicle back to the same dealer. This time they are trying to blame maintenance; saying there is sludge in the motor. The problem with this is the oil was recently changed (within 3500 miles) and the mechanic at the dealership did not identify any sludge or coolant in the oil. The dealership was told by the service engineer not to repair the motor. I looked on line and there reddit forums from people across the country having the same problem. What they are saying is the same thing the dealer told me. Ford is blame the customer claiming lack of maintenance. This is just a talking point because what everyone is being told is the same. Ford needs to be place under investigation. Law suits against Ford are documenting Ford knew the ecoboost engines had defects from the start and do not have a way to fix the design flaw and are refusing to make amends. Additionally these lawsuits are documenting the band aid repairs Ford is doing is simple to push the problem off and later not claim responsibility when the same malfunction occurs. The owners of Ford cars with ecoboost engine are out tens of thousands of dollars and have endure hardship inflicted by Ford that go beyond the vehicle damages. Ford should be placed under federal investigation and I believe it is possible criminal conduct may have occurred given the position Ford has taken in and its continued failure to make amends.
