2020 FORD F-53 Complaints and Recall Information
The 2020 FORD F-53 has 4 complaints and 20 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to recall repairs taking an unreasonable amount of time. Two complaints describe windows detaching while driving at 35 MPH with no warning lights illuminated.
Common Issues- Recall repair delays. Owners report receiving notifications of recalls but face extended wait times for parts or manufacturer approval before repairs can be completed.
- Detached windows. Windows detached from the vehicle while driving, leading to safety concerns though no warning lights appeared during the incidents.
- Lack of dealer awareness. Dealers were sometimes unaware of recall parts availability or pending repairs even after owners reported the issues.
- Communication problems. Manufacturers requested multiple submissions of evidence such as photos before approving repairs for affected components.
There are 20 recalls affecting various systems, including driveline, suspension, and structural components. The recalls primarily address safety and equipment failures requiring inspection and part replacement.
Recalls- Rear axle lubricant deficiency. (NHTSA 21V202000) Ford recalled 16,128 vehicles due to inadequate rear axle lubricant that causes rear wheel bearing damage, bearing seizure, and potential rear axle or driveshaft failure. Risks include loss of motive power, parking brake failure, and inability to shift the transmission into "PARK" which increases crash risk. Owners receive notifications and dealers provide free inspections and necessary rear wheel bearing replacements.
- Rear suspension failure. (NHTSA 21V202000) The same recall addresses suspension issues related to inadequate rear axle lubricant causing bearing and driveshaft failure. The remedy involves similar inspection and repair procedures to mitigate risks to vehicle control and safety. There are no "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisories for this recall.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or ongoing recall issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a qualified attorney could help determine eligibility for relief based on unresolved vehicle defects or defective recall remedies.
