2017 FORD F-350

ENGINE

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Ford F-150 and 2017-2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duty, and F-550 Super Duty pick-up trucks equipped with an engine block heater. Water and contaminants may get into the block heater cable's splice connector causing corrosion and damage.

Risk: When the heater is plugged in, prolonged corrosion could cause a resistive short, increasing the risk of overheated or melted wiring which can increase the risk of a fire.

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle briefly hesitated but the contact was able to drive to destination. However, upon attempting to leave from the location, the vehicle failed to start. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the high-pressure fuel pump, resulting in damages to the fuel system. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V957000 (Fuel System, Diesel), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 173,000.

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH and hauling a light trailer, the message "Loss of Power" was displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle was losing motive power. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled, and the contact was able to coast to the side of the highway. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle several times however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer determined that the fuel pump module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact received a call from the dealer stating that the high-pressure fuel pump had also failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V957000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the model year vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle failed to respond as intended. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump had disintegrated inside. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

The contact stated that the code was constantly illuminated and was illuminated when the vehicle was started.
