2016 FORD F-350 Complaints and Recall Information

The 2016 FORD F-350 has 14 complaints and 0 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to engine problems, vibrations at high speeds, and electrical malfunctions. Several complaints involve repeated failures of diesel particulate filter components and severe shaking commonly referred to as death wobble.

Common Issues
  • Death wobble. The truck shakes violently at high speeds, causing loss of control and potential safety hazards.
  • Diesel particulate filter failure. Repeated malfunctions of the DPF pump and burner cause warning messages and unintended deceleration below 50 MPH despite repairs.
  • Engine knocking and damage. Abnormal knocking sounds and engine damage reported, including metal shavings found in the high-pressure fuel pump, leading to persistent power and smoke issues.
  • Rear differential axle failure. Axle bolts shear off and fall into wheel hub caps, causing the need for axle replacement and safety concerns.
  • Electrical issues from cab mount deterioration. Rapid deterioration of cab mounts causes cab settling and crushes wiring harnesses, resulting in numerous electrical problems.
  • Rear camera problems. Rear camera operates intermittently or with degraded performance.
  • NOx sensor error codes. Diagnostic trouble code P207F frequently appears, indicating nitric oxide sensor issues.
  • Airbag non-deployment in crash. In one incident, airbags failed to deploy during a head-on collision, which resulted in serious injuries and the vehicle being declared a total loss.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was later taken for routine maintenance, and the mechanic discovered that the rear axle bolts had sheared off and were inside the wheel hub caps. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed that the rear driver’s side differential axle bolts had failed, and the axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 155,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The junk cab mounts deteriorate so fast the cab settles and crushes the wiring harness causing many electrical issues. There are many forums that talk about bad cab mounts and what components to use to repair them, but in my opinion this is a Ford issue.

STEERING

I was driving as normal and truck started shaking vigorously until I came to a stop. From I can tell, they call this a death wobble. I almost hit another car and have some video of it.
