FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

I purchased this 2024 f350 from Auto Park Ford in Laporte, IN on [XXX] with 94 miles on the truck. It was shipped directly to me and arrived July 21st 2025. Upon taking delivery there were many safety faults present once I drove the vehicle that included loss of power, the vehicle randomly braking by itself, adaptive cruise control faults, cross traffic faults, blind spot warning faults, forward collision faults, rear cross traffic faults, rusty engine components as well as other rusty components on the vehicle. These safety defects in manufacturing materials, workmanship, improper storage by the selling dealer, and selling of a defective vehicle to me has put myself and my family in an unsafe vehicle. The vehicle has been at the local Ford service center since July 22nd 2025 with the service department stating there is no fix for these issues and is a known issue by Ford. My safety and my family's safety has been put at risk by the vehicle's loss of power, random braking applications, and rusty engine components. These issues were confirmed by Pierre Ford of Lynnwood service department. The repair report states "VERIFIED WARNING FAULTS PRESENT. SELF TEST NUMEROUS DTC'S PRESENT IN ABS MOD. C0051 PPT Q Q1 YES, Q2 NO YO23A FOUND SSM 53892 STIIDING THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH NO FIX CURRENTLY. UPDATED ABS MODULE AND AWD MODULE ROAD TESTED DTC'S CAME BACK". the service center informed me that I could come pick up the truck and there may be a fix in the future. I asked them to keep the truck as it's a major safety concern for myself and my family to operate this truck with all the safety faults, loss of power, random braking, etc. The vehicle will have been at the dealer 21 days by Monday 8/11/25. I have contacted Ford about this issue and requested a buyback, vehicle replacement, a fix, and have gotten no where. I have submitted a lemon law buy back claim because of the many safety issues, but they have put my claim on pause for an addition 30 days. STEERING

Steering Wheel Misalignment, 2024 Ford F-350 Platinum (VIN: [XXX] ) I am submitting a safety-related defect complaint involving a visibly off-center steering wheel in my 2024 Ford F-350 Platinum. The steering wheel remains misaligned to the left when the vehicle is traveling straight, impacting driver perception, confidence, and potentially overall safety. In January 2025, the dealership performed a front-end alignment in response to my concern, acknowledging it as a deviation from acceptable standards. However, when the issue persisted, Ford reversed course and claimed the off-center wheel was an intentional design feature called “Clear Vision,” supposedly meant to improve gauge visibility and compensate for road crown. This “feature” is not documented in any Ford manuals, bulletins, training, or consumer-facing materials. Ford’s April 2025 written response to BBB Autoline leaned on this “Clear Vision” claim, but during a May 2025 arbitration hearing, Ford’s representative admitted a repair was attempted to address the issue. These contradictory statements raise questions about Ford’s transparency and accountability. There is no engineering justification for a visibly misaligned steering wheel to be presented as a feature, especially in a $95,000 vehicle. I urge NHTSA to investigate whether Ford is misusing this terminology to conceal defects in its 2024 Super Duty platform, and whether this violates federal safety or design standards. STEERING

The contact owned a 2024 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the steering wheel seized, causing the front passenger side to crash into the front driver side of a commercial vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle ricocheted and rolled over to the driver's side, and did a 180 turn where the tires came to a stop at the bottom of a hill; however, there was no property damage. The air bags deployed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where the vehicle was deemed totaled due to severe front tire damage. The vehicle was then towed to a salvage lot, where it was informed that the link to the ABS unit failed and there was a connectivity issue with the steering module that could have possibly caused the failure. A police report was filed. Due to the impact, the contact's wife broke her right wrist and immediately sought medical attention; the contact's wife was seated on the front passenger side. No one outside of the vehicle was injured. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

After purchasing our Ford F350 in October 2024, on [XXX], the truck did not start. The starter appeared to work, but the engine would not turn over. An error message appeared about the fuel gauge on [XXX], but then disappeared by [XXX]. The fuel gauge stopped registering fuel in the tank. Fortunately, the non-starting issue occurred locally and the truck had to be towed to a local Ford dealer. Upon inspection by a Ford dealer service department, it appears as though rodents have chewed through the soy-based polymer used for electrical wiring. It is currently at Ford City in Urbana, Illinois and the dealer is taking photos of the damage. This will likely cost several thousand dollars to repair. My [XXX] daughter uses this truck to pull a horse and trailer to horse shows often several hours away. The engine failure would have put her and her horse at great risk had it happened on her way home when she stopped for gas or at a rest stop. We will likely have a Geico insurance representative examine the damage as well. However, I don't feel this should be at our expense and affect our insurance rates as it is a "defect" in the design of the Ford F350. The nozzle on the flow thru system under the dash (Part No. PC3Z-18490-B) loosened and dropped down directly over the gas and brake pedal. This interfered with the driver's foot causing the driver to loose control which caused the pickup to run into a fifth wheel trailer hitch while the vehicle was in reverse. The tailgate of the vehicle was damaged but, luckily, no one was injured. However, if this had occurred while the vehicle was on the highway, lives could have been lost. I have temporarily taped the part up under the dash but I have not yet discussed this with a dealer. This incident occurred on February 6, 2025 at approximately 1:00 pm.
