Transmission has erratic behavior. Several times it would not downshift or would hunt for a proper gear with the 10 speed automatic transmission at intersections and when making turns with oncoming traffic. Very dangerous. I have decided to park it. Dealer said it needs transmission replacement.

The transmission failed in October 2023 on my way home from work. Brought it to a transmission place and had another one put in. Cost $6k - The truck is now at another mechanic as it broke down again while driving home from work - transmission and engine this time. Mechanic says needs new transmission and timing chain kit - Cost $10k This is a truck that has 100k miles on it and only 6 years old. This will be the 3rd transmission. It is a safety risk as I have no control when the transmission gives out whether its on a highway or one of these country back roads.

Merging onto highway, the transmission stayed in-between gears and did not allow me to accelerate forcing me to ride the break down lane momentarily. I had to shift to N and then back to D to regain acceleration. As continued to the next exit the transmission shifted from 7 to 1 and then back to 7 causing a hard shift and a violent jolt of the vehicle. This happened in 9th gear as well before reaching my destination. A wrench icon was on the dash and the Ford app showed a "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power" warning. There have also been countless hard shifts prior to the incident above. If there was no break down lane while merging, I would have been a hazard to the traffic on the limited access highway and may have caused an accident due to the low speed and no acceleration. I have a service appointment on Sept 04, 2025 with the dealership I bought the vehicle from. (Not a Ford Dealer)

In July 2025 my 2019 Ford F150 began to have hard shift changes, unexpected downshifts and other shifting issues especially in 4th and 8th gear. Then during the first week of August I pulled out at an intersection and when the truck shifted into 4th gear it lost all power however the engine was still running. Thankfully no one was behind me as this could have caused a serious accident resulting in the loss of life for those involved. It slowed down to approximately 20 mph then suddenly regained power and lunged and shifted up to 5th. This happened several times so I took it to the local Ford dealer and they said the transmission was defective and needed replacing. The truck’s mileage was 129,000 and they said it was not covered by warranty and that even though Ford was aware of the numerous problems with the 2017-2022 10R80 transmission they refused to issue a recall and instead issued several TSBs (Technical Service Bulletin) to the dealers. It costs me $8699.72 to have a remanufactured transmission installed and has the improved CDF drum which was part of the defective transmissions Ford used in 2017-2022 in their F-150, Ranger, Expedition and Explorers. Ford knowing and continues to endanger the lives of its customers that operate these vehicles built between 2017-2022 by refusing to issue a recall for the known 10R80 transmission problems and it is costing these customers thousands of dollars to repair what Ford should have done in the first place. NHTSA must investigate these issues and mandate Ford issue an immediate recall and fully reimburse customers who have paid to have their transmissions replaced.

My ten speed transmission is shifting erratic and slipping. I have asked Krenzen auto dealer to please diagnose and advise about the problem. They ran codes and say nothing comes up. I requested a transmission flush and was told they don't have the tools. I afraid that this could become a safety hazzard if it gets worse.

In June we started having transmission issues. Collateral was taken to Lynch Ford in Mt. Vernon IA. When we would drive the unit the transmission would slip. The final incident was when we were driving down [XXX] at 70 Miles per hour the transmission began to slip again. We had to pull over off the side of the road as the truck went in to limp mode. We had to continue to drive to the dealer at a lower rate of speed because we could not get a tow truck to pick us up. Dealer informed us the transmission was out and needed replaced. We spent close to 8K to replace the transmission. The collateral had just turned over 100K for miles. Since installing the new transmission we continue to have transmission issue. Truck as been back to Lynch Ford for further a diagnostic. They flashed the transmission and told us to drive the unit 400 miles to see if the flash fixes the problem. We have only had the truck less than 8 months. Location Stanwood Iowa. There should be a recall on these transmissions and owners who spent money to replace the transmission should be reimbursed. There is, and has been, a consistent rattle sound from the waste gates and all I was told was that Ford knows about the issue and states that it is normal operation yet it can cause damage and reduce performance and could cause a safety issue if it fails and allows no power to be delivered especially if the failure occurs on an interstate. All I’ve been told is the issue can be addressed with a DIY fix of adding a spring but no support from Ford is given in regards to this issue. This is documented all over the forums and is a known issue plaguing the 3.5 ecoboost f150s. The next issue is in regards to the transmission shifting roughly, jerking and sometimes lagging when trying to accelerate. Currently my truck only has 88k miles and this issue has been present since roughly 60k miles and has not been addressed even though it’s been made known.

The Ford Sync 3 "head unit" or whatever they call it nowadays locks up. When going in reverse the camera will either sometimes completely glitch and show "static", or sometimes a black screen and nothing. The rearview camera will also stay on when pulling away after reversing, which obviously can be very distracting. This has been glitching for almost two years, but has gotten worse and worse to the point now where it is almost every single time the rear camera is used. It will not factory reset, that locks as well. This is a very well known issue by Ford, and yet they do nothing about it. It is a very common complaint in online forums etc., someone needs to force Ford's hand to do these repairs, which can cost well over $1000, in many cases closer to 2k or more.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious transmission defect that has developed in my vehicle. The transmission exhibits repeated and worsening malfunctions, including surging, hesitation, jerking, lunging, and slipping between gears. These defects substantially impair my ability to operate the vehicle safely, create an unreasonable risk of collision, and endanger the safety of passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists. This matter requires immediate attention due to the significant safety risks posed. The transmission system of the vehicle has failed and exhibits repeated malfunctions, including surging, hesitation, jerking, lunging, and slipping between gears. The vehicle and its transmission remain available for inspection upon request. The transmission failure places both the operator and the public at significant risk by causing sudden, unintended, and unpredictable vehicle movements. These malfunctions substantially impair the driver’s ability to maintain safe control of the vehicle, creating an elevated risk of collision and endangerment to passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists. The failure was reproduced and confirmed by an authorized Ford dealership during the first week of August. The dealership initially attempted a transmission reflash procedure at a cost of $280, which failed to remedy the defect. Approximately two weeks later, following illumination of the wrench warning indicator on the dashboard, the vehicle was returned to the dealership where it was formally confirmed that the transmission is failing. (Oct 17, 2024 completed a Transmission Flush with 86,962 miles) Note: My son has a 2019 F150 as well with 77K miles and his truck is starting to have the same issues.

Transmission had a huge delay when trying to shift into 4th gear. Was trying to pull out and was almost hit by traffic because the truck would not accelerate. My F150 constantly needs oil and seems to lag when the oil tank is low. 163000km on the engine. I've heard other 2019 f150 drivers have the same problem. It also has a hard shift after sitting for the night, it will drop gears while going uphill which seems to be from third gear to fourth but instead drops to 3rd again creating a clunk noise. It hasn't caused an accident or anything yet but from my last truck this thing definitely was not built the way it should have been. I think Ford needs to have a serious look at these trucks before someone gets hurt.

VCT / Cam phasers need replaced on all 3.5 ecoboost engines from 2017-2020. The failure of cam phasers can destroy the engine and if it happens on the road it can be deadly. At a minimum, replacing these cam phasers (due to poorly designed parts) is extremely expensive (between $5,000 to $10,000) and people put off this repair because it is cost prohibitive which will lead to engine failure, potentially at high speeds. My dealer (Phil Long Ford of Denver) provided me an estimate of $5,000 to fix my cam phasers. Again, this is on every 2017-2020 Ford Ecoboost 3.5 engine.

Transmission failure. Transmission problems began with the having a significant delay in shifting when cold. This resulted in a safety concern when pulling out into traffic and the vehicle would stop moving. As the problem worsened shift points got harder and the truck computer would show that it was shifting from a high gear to first gear at highway speeds. A reputable transmission shop inspected the vehicle and removed the transmission. They confirmed that a sleeve or bushing in the CDF drum had moved and disrupted oil flow to the clutch packs.

Vehicle Information: •Make: Ford •Model: F-150 •Year: 2019 •VIN: [XXX] Complaint Summary: Cam Phaser Defect — Safety Risk and Manufacturer Negligence 1. Component/System Failure This complaint involves a mechanical failure of the cam phaser system (part of the variable valve timing system) in the 3.5L EcoBoost engine of the above-referenced vehicle. Specifically, the locking pin within the cam phasers fails to engage properly, resulting in a loud knocking or rattling noise on cold start. This condition is a known defect documented in Ford TSB 19-2208 and subject to Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) 21N03, which extended coverage for cam phaser repair. However, no official safety recall has been issued, despite widespread evidence of failure. The defective parts are still installed in the vehicle and are available for inspection upon request. 2. Risk to Safety This defect compromises driver and public safety and constitutes a violation of 49 U.S.C. § 30101 and 49 U.S.C. § 30118, which obligate manufacturers to notify NHTSA and owners when a defect poses an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. Specifically: •Failure of cam phasers leads to improper valve timing, risking engine hesitation, loss of power, or stall conditions. •These symptoms can occur during acceleration, highway driving, or merging, creating conditions that significantly increase the risk of collision or engine failure while in motion. The defect may also cause internal engine damage over time, raising the risk of mechanical breakdown in traffic. 3.Confirmation of the Problem This issue has been confirmed by a certified Ford dealership and an independent ASE-certified mechanic. Both diagnosed the startup noise as a cam phaser locking failure, consistent with widespread reports from other Ford 3.5L EcoBoost owners. Neither party could provide a fix without significant out-of-pocket cost, despite Ford’s knowledge of the issue and internal bulletins acknowledging the issu INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA)

I drive a 2019 Ford F-150 with the 3.5L engine and 10 speed transmission. I have received a warning for low fuel pressure, trouble starting, and the truck has cut off once after turning over. It never fails to crank, however, it may take 5 or so seconds of cranking to get it to start. I have had the check engine light come on one time over the last couple of months of the issues starting; the code it showed was a P00C6. I have not brought the vehicle in for service as it just started a couple months ago when it got hot outside and there was a recent recall that did not include this VIN but matches the issue exactly. The warning states to not drive the vehicle and to get it towed if fuel is not low. The recall states there is not a current fix for the issue and I need my vehicle. This is a daily problem, mostly after the vehicle sits for a couple of hours. I am also having an issue with the cam phaser rattle upon startup and rattling while driving. I have noticed some power reduction and it has progressively gotten worse over time. I am at 135,000 miles currently and have experienced this issue for the last 50,000 miles or so.

Our home is situated on a blind curve, and the speed limit is 55 mph. When pulling out onto the road, adequate acceleration is necessary to merge with the traffic flow. The truck initially accelerates as expected, then stops accelerating before suddenly jerking forward. Occasionally, it takes several seconds for the vehicle to accelerate, which creates a hazardous situation when approaching traffic is moving at 55 mph. It has not caused an accident yet but it has caused me to adjust my driving and times to use the truck. I use my wife's car (another Ford) most of the time. This hesitation and strange shifting poses safety risks for all road users. On 5/21/2025, I took the truck to Ford dealer, and on 5/30/2025, was informed that major work was required on the transmission and differential, estimated at $12,383.80. Seeking an alternative assessment due to financial considerations, I consulted a specialist who confirmed that the transmission and pinion bearings needed repair or replacement. The vehicle was returned to dealer on 6/4/2025 for differential repairs, completed on 6/13/2025 at a cost of $4,486.26. The transmission repair was not in the budget. Subsequent research indicated that the 10R80 transmission has a record of mechanical issues, service bulletins, recalls, and related legal matters. It appears likely that the jerky shifting of the transmission contributed to the failure of the pinion bearings. Although the truck is out of warranty and has 64,430 miles, given the safety concerns, I request that Ford review my case for assistance with the remaining transmission repairs, in light of documented issues with the 10R80. I request that Ford evaluate this request in consideration of customer satisfaction, public safety, and corporate responsibility. I know Ford is well aware of the problems as there are 474 other complaints on file. They need to step up and do the right thing before this causes serious injuries.

I purchased this truck about a year ago. After two oil changes, the cam phasers began to rattle on startup. It has the 3.5l Ecoboost engine. This is a known problem and there have been tsb's but they come and go during short windows. The cam phasers were finally updated in 2021 but some people have paid thousands in and out of warranty, some multiple times before the issue is fixed. Ford says they are just a noise and do not cause any issues but the resale is directly effected whether private party or trade in (repair typically costs between $4-7500). Mine started making noise at 89,000 miles. Some people go years with the engine rattling and others have check engine lights and engine issues a shirt time after it begins. Ford knows it is a problem and the customer service sometimes will assist with the cost and other times they tell people to file a complaint here to finally get a recall going. The repair is in depth and typically requires the removal of the cab from the frame, making it likely that everything won't be reassembled correctly.

At 101,000 miles, the engine lost power, check engine light came on, and service transmission light came on. This happened while pulling a trailer up a mountain, slowing the truck rapidly, and becoming a hazard to surrounding interstate traffic. We bought a 2019 F-150 Limited 4x4 last year and we have experienced in the last couple of months we started to experience the truck to skip the shifting on the 10 gear transmission. it skips the gear 2 to 3 and then at 6 to 7, you can experience the pulling on the transmission. it is starting to feel more and more the jerking of the gears and we were advised by a mechanic we called that these trucks from years 2016 to 2019 all are having the same problems. these truck are requiring for the transmission to be overhauled or replace. costing anywhere between 5,000 to 7,000. we were told that it has nothing to do with reprogramming the transmission, the inside components need to be replaced, it seems like when these transmissions were build by ford, the components/parts, seals, gaskets, bands, etc were not properly done. we have found several people in the internet that have had the same problem but it seems like Ford MOtor Company does not want to take liability for the transmissions being assemble incorrectly. it seems like the truck is loosing RPM's and it runs the risk of one day not to drive. It can loose power in the road which can cause accident. we are not financially to get this replaced or repaired and we still have 3 years topay off this truck. I do not know if there are any other complaints against FOrd MOtor Company regarding this but I need to let you all know.

At freeway speeds, truck suddenly started shifting into random gears. It was cruising in 10th gear at about 65-70mph, with trailer in tow, driving normally and fine. Truck started shifted randomly, slipping gears, and going out of gear completely causing power loss. Transmission would then attempt to shift back into gear, all on its own. It would go into 5th through 10 all while slipping back out of gear in between. Some of the down shifts were sudden, and caused me to concentrate to keep the truck and trailer in control. After a few minutes of this, smoke appeared out the back, quite a deal of smoke. It wasn't long until the transmission temperature guage started reading high (but not warning or critical). Then the check engine like came on with "powertrain error". I was able to pull off the freeway, but under duress as it was very busy, and the smoke caused another motorist to pull over and see if I was on fire. It appeared the transmission fluid was "venting" and spraying on the exhaust, and after pulling over it luckily stopped, otherwise I'm sure that oil would have caught fire shortly.

Ford REFUSED to address the known safety issues with the 10R80 10 speed transmission defective CDF drum and defective valve body the whole 42 to times it was taken to the dealership under warranty. Like everyone else with these transmission, Ford and their dealerships continued to lied to all us owners and said it was working fine and there was nothing defective with this transmission.. As of May 23, 2023 Ford issued a TSB 22-2428, TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT Automatic Transmission - Harsh/Delayed Engagement And/Or Harsh/Delayed Shift - Built On Or Before 23-Dec-2022 " Ford issued a TSB and not a recall since they knew the affected vehicles would be out of warranty and they could then charge the owners pay for repair cost of $8,000- $12,000 for a new transmission replacement. Ford refuses to replace these transmission at their expense, if you are out of warranty, which most are unless you have a extend warranty. How it even legal that they aren't required by law to replace these transmission at the full expense of Ford since they clearly sold us vehicles with known defective transmission from the beginning and refused to address when the vehicles were under warranty. Many of us owners can't believe the NHTSA would allow a safety issue like this to continue on our roadways without forcing Ford to recall and replace all these defective transmission at Ford expense.

The transmission began having issues shifting/changing gears at the beginning of March. The gears don't engage correctly, the truck doesn't move, then all of a sudden jerks into position. Very dangerous at the start of a light or turn as the car seems to go; then all of a sudden will not shift and is just stuck in the road. Similar danger when on the highway alongside traffic and the transmission does not easily or smoothly shift, making the truck lose momentum. It is most noticeable in the lower gears. The jerking motion of the truck when it finally catches, or shifts, is quite harsh and abrupt for the truck and driver. There is clunking noise when this happens. The warning lights did not come on prior to the issue or during the initial onset of the issue. It did come on as the condition worsened. The problem is noted with other Ford owners with the same 10R80 transmission. The dealer has inspected and witnessed the issue. Suggested full replacement of the transmission with an new CDF, so the issue doesn't recur. Just outside of the 5yr powertrain( but was within the mileage) so they will not cover any of the cost. If we replace the transmission, it is only guaranteed for two years. Attached is the diagnostic report and options to repair. They have the new, improved transmission in stock.

My 2019 F150 has issues with both the cam phasers and the transmission. Every time I turn on my truck I get the ford “cold start rattle” because defective parts from the factory that ford has known were defective and later fixed but for some reason my truck was not in the recall. My truck came off the same assembly line and time period of previous CSP or recall programs but my vin was never included. My truck also has 60,000 miles and the 10 speed transmission clunks all the time. I’m not sure if it’s missing shifts or what is breaking but everyone with a f150 around this year knows they are common to have transmission issues. Sometimes my truck doesn’t find the proper gear getting started and will rev high and barely move until it finally gets shift right and gets moving. These 2019 F150 issues are far too common i see them all across the blogs and internet and know a few other owners who have similar issues.

My Ford F-150 with 5.0 V8, 10-speed automatic transmission, and only 46k miles has been diagnosed by my Ford Service Dept. (Angela Krause Ford in Alpharetta, GA) with the known 10R80 10-speed transmission issue (completely destroyed transmission and drum) and I now must receive a new one. This issue started around 43k miles, but I had no idea of the transmission design flaw that exists. While driving this Memorial Day Weekend (2025) from Atlanta to VA with my wife and twin girls, we were nearly rear ended by a tractor trailer because the transmission would not let me speed up for several seconds. It wasn’t able to select a gear. When it finally did, the tractor trailer was up to my rear bumper. This was extremely scary and could have been life threatening. There must be a recall issued for this flawed Ford transmission that is in F-150s, Explorers, etc. built before 2022. For owners of Fords that are out of warranty and are expected to pay for this repair is unacceptable. This will financially ruin many people and worse, will lead to a death or more at some point. I beg you to research and do something about this. Thank you.

While driving at highway speeds the transmission goes into neutral or downshifts dramatically on its own. My investigation online reveals that this is a common phenomenon with this model and year and I’m shocked there isn’t a recall for this safety issue because of the danger from losing control of the vehicle at highway speed. The information revealed that some vehicles can be repaired with a software update and many require a complete transmission replacement. Please investigate.

We have a 2019 Ford F150 with the 10R80 transmission which gave out on the freeway, it was doing a hard knock when shifting and would make a clicking noise at start up. Heading north on I25, the truck sputtered and you could see white smoke coming out the back end. We were towing a 7x10 trailer and it had fluid spewed all over it. It lost power so we had to pull to the side of the freeway and wait to be towed. There was a lot of fluid leaking from under the truck as well. Had it towed to a shop and they were stumped about what it could be. Had it towed to another shop but a transmission shop and they stated it needed a new transmission, we have the go ahead, and after replacing it, we picked it up and headed home. About a half hour later, the new transmission gave out, the key symbol popped up and it shuddered. Had to have it towed back to the transmission shop. They were stumped as to what happened. We were told they had to consult a national transmission shop and that Ford did not want to replace it with another transmission. The transmissions and engines on these 2019 Ford F150s we have as company vehicles are prone to so many issues that are costly. We have three 2019 F150s, one 2023 F150. So far on one of the 2019, we have had to replace a transmission and engine. The other one had the transmission replaced. The third one is on its way out, there is a rattling sound it makes when it is on its way to failing. How are there so many documentations and Ford is not willing to recall them? Or even meet halfway to repairing them when it is obviously a manufacture defect? A Ford problem? Attached are the receipts showing how much money we dumped into this truck. Mind you, we had the engine replaced in this one too :(

I own a 2019 Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost with approximately 117,000 miles. Like many others, I am experiencing the widely reported cold start cam phaser rattle, which grows louder with colder temperatures. This is a known issue addressed by Ford in TSB 19-2365, yet no recall has been issued. I believe this defect poses long-term reliability concerns and could eventually lead to engine damage. Ford should be held responsible for a widespread design flaw affecting thousands of vehicles. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this recurring issue and hold Ford accountable for consumer safety and financial impact.

Rear window ford part number 1542006 - Back window glass has 1" cracks in glass where the glass connects to the body on the left passenger side of the crew cab. Cracks have caused leaks into the cab interior and has caused the modem, mounted behind the rear passenger set on the back wall to stop working as water has infiltrated the electronics. Vehicle was inspected at dealership and their 3rd party glass leak specialists discovered the cracks in the glass connection. I have no idea as to how long this has been going on, estimate a few months as I recently discovered I could not communicate with the vehicle through the Ford Connect App and called Ford Connect, they identified an issue with the modem and when I pulled back the upholstery to see, there was water dripping inside the vehicle. Unknown if cracks will propagate, however they are leaking when it rains. I will be replacing the glass to prevent further leaks from occurring. I have extended warranty through Ford and "glass" is not covered. Reached out to Ford Care and they would not cover. Suggested that I put in a report here so that if later recall or other action, I might be able to get refund for the repair that I am now going to have to pay for to replace the glass and possibly the modem. No other symptoms other than the filaure of the modem that alerted to the issue.

Rear view camera used to glitch when put in reverse. Now it goes completely black (or blue) when vehicle is in reverse. There was a recall on this involving 2021 and newer models but I believe this problem goes back even further. Because it’s a truck, I have a huge blind spot in the back when reversing and I worry mostly about a potential accident involving property, persons, or even my own children. It’s very unsafe. I want to note that I was in contact with Ford Customer Service but they said that my vehicle wasn’t covered under the recall and that there was nothing they can do for me.

I am submitting this report regarding a serious safety concern involving the 10R80 automatic transmission in my 2019 Ford F-150. The vehicle experienced a failure of the transmission system, specifically related to a faulty CDF (Clutch Drum F) component, which I believe led to internal fluid loss without visible external leaks, ultimately causing complete transmission failure as supported in TSB 22-2428. The automatic transmission system, specifically the CDF clutch drum assembly, failed. This internal component caused loss of hydraulic pressure and transmission fluid without any external leaks observed. And which I have documentation from a professional automechanic stating there were no signs of the leak on May 5th 2025, as I brought my truck in for routine oil change and tire rotation.. The vehicle is currently sitting up crossroads ford in Sanford and available for inspection upon request. The failure occurred while driving at moderate speed at about 77,000 miles. The truck exhibited delayed engagement, erratic shifting, and eventually became unable to shift properly. This created a significant safety risk as the vehicle hesitated while accelerating from stops, increasing the potential for collisions, especially at intersections or while merging into traffic. Ford has yet to take responsibility for this issue. Regardless of the evidence and current TSB 22-2428. There were absolutely no visible signs of a transmission fluid leak nor warning lamps or lights to let me know. The dealership is trying to say the the transmission failure is due to the low transmission fluid which my warranty would not cover the replacement, however, in my case it was the opposite. The low transmission fluid was a result of the bad CDF drum. Which then fall under warranty. I am currently, presenting my evidence to ford regarding this issue.

Vehicle would stall in between gears. Almost got hit in side. The transmission has shifted rough and hard shift. I took to dealer and the computer was reset at 55,000 miles. I just had to replace transmission at 77,000 miles. The repair cost was $8,059.00 before taxes. I was told 4th and 8th gear the cluthes were out. This seems to be a known problem because the replacement transmission has a different valve body.

Transmission shifts hard and erratic at times. Error code p076f. Tech came out to our house to reprogram the vehicle was told to drive it for 50 to 80 miles for new program to take effect, and if it continued to act erratic take it to the dealer for service. Upon taking it to the dealer and a general check to verify he vehicle still had issues we were told we had to pay a service tech to investigate the issue further and they were certain that the repairs wouldnt be covered under any recall. They also closed out the recall that we had as repaired when it obviously was not. It seems ford has a major issue with all of the recalls I keep seeing pop up in news articles and they are trying to keep from fixing the issue.so much for safety and integrity of building great American vehicles.

The transmission in the vehicle does not match the life of an average vehicle, especially a modern one. Even with good maintenance and driving habits a transmission beginning to fail around 120,000 miles is absurd. With a failing transmission you have no idea what will happen on the road, when the gears slip and you beginning to max out RPMs and it trying to figure it self out, this could easily cause an accident or a fire under the hood putting everyone around you at risk and the warning lamp didn’t appear until after the event . I have been quoted by the dealer for a total transmission replacement at around 12000 dollars which is well over half the value of the vehicle. I know that this has been a recurring issue with many F150s with this transmission and recall on this part needs to happen.

Cam phasers - this is a known issue on the 3.5L ecoboost motors, yet Ford will not stand behind their product. They have paid for some people to have it repaired, and not others. This is about a $4,000 fix at the dealership, again for an issue they knew about years ago. They tried to claim changing the timing with the ECM module would stop it from happening, but as I discovered this weekend it didn't My vehicles ECM was swapped in 2021 and here I am a few years later with the same issue. Ford needs to be called out as they knowingly pushed out subpar engine products to make more money.

CAM PHASERS!!!! I have a 2019 Ford F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine which started having cam phaser issues. On cold starts, the engine makes a loud rattling noise for several seconds, and during idle a ticking noise is heard as well. At times the engine runs roughly and loses power briefly when i’m driving it. I’m very concerned because it happened to me while merging into a highway the truck cut power down and I almost caused an accident for not getting up to speed properly, additionally this could lead to the car shutting off on me, or other dangerous situations on the road, other than the long wear and tear that these bad cam phasers have on the engine. I’ve learned that this issue is known to Ford and has been happening for many years, and was addressed for other owners through Customer Satisfaction Programs like the 21N03 and its various supplements, to my knowledge the last one being held in 2022, but my truck is not covered at this time even though it’s a 2019 and has under 70,000 miles. I believe this issue should be investigated further as it is a safety risk to drivers, passengers, and all other vehicles on the road, and Ford should be held accountable, as this issue has been seen around their 3.5 Ecoboost engines and has yet to be fixed. It seems like it’s an ongoing profitable business for them to keep customers paying out of pocket for this $4,000+ job knowing that it’s an issue that many owners have, which is beyond ridiculous on their end. If it’s possible for you guys to take a look at any of their social media platforms, most of the comments on their posts, even if they have nothing to do with this engine, are complaints about not having a Recall for cam phasers on the 3.5 Ecoboost engine. Ford needs to be held accountable for this issue and give more importance to the safety of their customers instead of their parts/service profits!!!!!!

I purchased a 2019 F150 through Imperial Chevy in Mendon, MA in 2022. Technical Service Bulletin 19-2365 had been issued on 05 December 2019 and the dealer did not disclose or address the issue prior to sale. The truck has had regular oil changes every year and then check engine light came on - Code P0630 Camshaft Position Sensor B circuit. Ford service diagnosed scoring in the cylinders and verified that it has the excessive oil consumption issue. Solution is total engine replacement. Ford corporate has so far denied the claim and refused to offer financing for $12,000+ repair. Having approved many other claims for the same issue, they are now requiring Ford service to do a teardown before considering whether to pay for this known issue. This truck currently isn't be driven more than a few miles a day to and from work. We bought this truck to haul a full size two horse trailer which we haven't done as we are afraid to further tax the transmission and/or run the truck out of oil inadvertently since the oil gauge does not give warning that the oil is low - instead the truck throws a P0390 code. Ford must be held responsible for paying for repair. I can provide extensive paperwork if necessary. This is a known issue that Ford is refusing to remedy and any F150 experiencing this issue must be recalled immediately.

Had oil change 7 times in one year and each time they indicate at the place I get oil changed that it is a quart or more low before 3,000 miles of usage after oil change. My car is suppose to take unleaded gas or higher and it knocks if I use unloaded. Now my catalytic converter is going out and it is not covered under warranty unless it is consequential to other problems. Well there appears to be engine problems that are not being addressed and I have a warranty and have taken it in. But they do not look any deeper into the problem except for computer scan and the warranty people won’t give me any answers on what they will do if there is engine problems.

I am experiencing a serious and potentially dangerous issue with the transmission in my 2019 Ford F-150 Lariat equipped with the 10-speed 10R80 automatic transmission. At highway speeds (65–75 mph), the truck will occasionally downshift abruptly into a much lower gear without any input from the driver. This causes the engine RPMs to spike and creates a sudden deceleration, which could easily lead to a rear-end collision or loss of control.

Driveability Issue - Ford 10R80 10 speed transmission. Turning into traffic (45MPH speed limit) from parking lot, in Drive gear, transmission disengaged, cause motor to rev. Released accelerator pedal, and had to wait for transmission to reengage drive gear. Transmission provides hard upshifts/downshifts. Local dealer technician test drove the vehicle and confirmed complaint. Technician inspected the issue, found no codes indicating an issue, but found that there is a hydraulic circuit leakage and the test of this circuit failed . My 2019 F150 has transmission issues that concern me about the safe operation of my vehicle. The transmission it was built with is a 10R80. Transmission frequently slips and clunks into gear. The main areas of concern are 2-3 clunk 3-4 slip and 6-7 slip. The CDF drum has had NUMEROUS issues on MANY vehicles that have the 10R80 transmission. This has been a very common issue with the 10R80. When is the NHTSA going to force Ford to issue a recall ???? This has happened with too many vehicles with a 10r80 transmission to not warrant a recall. I entered 3/04/25 as a date this occurred but it is still ongoing.

Ford issued a TSB 22-2428, May 26, 2023 and not a recall for defective transmission. I own a 2019 F150 that with the 10 speed transmission. Over my warranted period the truck was taken to the dealership over 21 times regarding shifting problem. Ford said there is nothing wrong with the transmission that is just how they shift. Now 2025 I told the truck back to dealership with this TSB paper. The tech said yes, this whole transmission needs replaced so they contacted Ford and so did I. Ford told me the truck is out of warranty and I would have to replace the transmission at my expense. After explaining to Ford this truck was taken in under warranty and they failed to address the transmission and told me it was find to come and find out I was lied to like many other that there was a defects in these transmissions. Ford told me, were sorry but we wont pay for the transmission to be replaced even though they put defective 10 speed transmissions in my truck and failed to address it over the 21 time I took it to the dealership under warranty. Ford has lie about this 10 speed transmission over and over to all its customer, and issued a TSB instead of a recall so now they can make the customer pay again to have a defected transmission that shouldn't have been defective from the beginning. Make Ford issues a recall on this matter and stop letting them get away with a simple TSB since Ford knows the owner are out of warranty.

Transmission clunks when upshifting after going uphill onto level surface, when accelerating after briefly slowing transmission makes noticeable clunking noise. Dealer checked this issue in 2024 but did not find any issues with the transmission. This issue with the transmission has gotten worse since the visit to the dealership to address the complaint. There have never been any warning lights that indicated a problem. There is now a slight hesitation when upshifting which I feel will only get worse over time.

When driving the truck under normal conditions, truck will randomly shift unintentionally from gear to gear (ie. 3-8-1) not following typical shifting pattern, causing loss of power temporarily to the truck and sometimes the rear tires lock up due to the transmission shifting issue. I have had the rear tires lock up momentarily at speeds at approximately 50km/h. Truck has 10-speed transmission.

The Transmission clunks through gears, bangs into reverse at times when backing up but the worst is backing out into the road and wont move . 3 times this has happened, and its dangerous! Ford knows the transmissions are a huge problem but makes people pay up to 6000 dollars to make repairs. I will be driving along with no issues with the vehichle shifting and then all of the sudden it will shift hard, jerk, clunk make noises I have no warning lights or check engine lights, I went to a local parts store and they said that a bad coil pack could cause this issue, however I have brand new coil packs and plugs and the pickup is firing in order. I then had taken it to a local transmission place and they had told me that this transmission should be recalled and possibly needs a software update. Is this something I should pay for if it going to keep happening or should a ford dealership be liable?

I've been having problems with the power train on the F150 10 speed transmission. There are times that the vehicle loses power and the engine speed drops to nearly zero. This has happened on several occasions while I'm driving into an intersection, or ongoing lane. The unexpected loss of acceleration is extremely dangerous as the oncoming vehicles aren't expecting my vehicle to come to a stop. I believe Ford is aware of this problem, yet nothing is being done to alleviate the issue. It can be an expensive repair. They would have to replace the PCM module and reprogram the vehicles electronics. They have offered up alternative fixes, but none of them seem to work and the alternative fix can be expensive to the consumer. The problem started far in advance before my warranty ran out and yet Ford would deny the problem and I couldn't get any Ford dealer to remedy the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Was driving at highway speeds when transmission unexpectedly shifted from 10th gear into first gear. It lurched the truck back hard, almost losing control. Speed was decreased and then brought back to 70mph. This is then when the truck shifted back from first into 10th held at 10th for a little bit and then did it again shifting from 10th into 1st lurching the truck back. The service light from the transmission came on after this. I pulled over and looked under the truck and saw it leaking transmission fluid. I then turned the truck off and on and put it back into gear and tried reverse, it didn’t go into reverse so I tuned it off and on again and reverse came back. I had the truck towed to a dealership where they inspected the transmission and replaced parts in it. After being there for 2 months waiting on the parts I finally got it back. I know Ford has had investigations in the past for the 6 speeds transmissions unexpectedly shifting. And I now know they’re being investigated again for newer models in the 6 and 10 speed transmissions.

Truck was going down the highway at 75mph when the transmission went from 10th gear to 1st. I have videos of this happening several times and then eventually a gear symbol appeared on dash. From day 1 when I bought the truck new it would have a hard time shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. It would lung forward or not even shift and the truck would just roll forward trying to figure out what gear it is in. I've taken the truck in to multiple dealers and all they would ever do is reset the computer. Once I took the truck in for the 10th to 1st gear issue. I told the new dealership I went to about the 3 and 4 issue. The service advisor said his trcuk had the same issue and he was able to get it fixed under warranty but I was already out of the warranty so they couldn't do anything about the 3 and 4 issue. For the shifting from 10 to 1. They rebuilt the transmission and put some locking device to keep fluid flowing into the case. Since the repair that I had to pay out of pocket for. I still have the 3 and 4 shifting problem. Only happens on cold starts when I'm accelerating up or down a hill. The new issue I'm now having is a hard shifting into reverse. Ford keeps telling me I don't qualify for any reimbursement because I'm outside of the warranty limit, even though, the truck every time I took into a Ford dealership for oil changes, I would complain about the transmission and they would just say it's a known issue but nothing they can do about it. Also after the transmission rebuilt, about 2,000 miles after, driving on the freeway, smoke was billowing out of the bed and transmission fluid was leaking out of the case all underneath the truck. The truck was towed back to dealership and they just said it was filled with too much transmission fluid.

My 2019 F-150, which has less than 60,000 miles, has a bent valve in the 2.7L EcoBoost engine. Bent valves are a known issue for this model engine that has led to a recall for similar engines. Despite being outside the 5-year warranty period, my vehicle is within the mileage limit that Ford sets as a marker for major issues. After contacting Ford Care to request they cover the cost of this premature failure, I waited for over a month to receive their offer. It was for about $4400 of a $10,000+ cost. The partial coverage offered is not sufficient given the circumstances. It's important for Ford to stand by its products and support customers facing problems due to manufacturing defects. Especially with engine models, like mine, that have had so many issues that the company no longer makes or uses that engine model. A recap: • The service advisor at Rick Ridings (my Ford service dealership in Monticello, IL) acknowledges that a vehicle with such low mileage should not have a bent valve and require such extensive, premature repairs. • I’ve found years of reports from other Ford owners in online forums talking about valve issues with this model engine. Early failures of the 2.7L EcoBoost engines were traced to fractured intake valves that caused significant engine damage. • Ford had a massive recall on EcoBoost 2.7L engines from 2021 to 2022 where the issues were with intake valves made from a material not being up to spec. • Today, Ford no longer uses this engine – a decision I'd guess was driven in part by the engine’s history of failure. • Overall, it’s a clear pattern of defects with the valves in the 2.7L EcoBoost engine. I simply want Ford to stand by the customers that buy their products when there appears to be evidence of a manufacturing defect that caused the issue at hand. All I want is the cost of the repair or replacement covered.

When coasting from approximately 30 to 20 mph vehicle will hard downshift from gears 4,3, 2. On the highway, when I need to accelerate to avoid other vehicles that are driving unsafe I will step on the accelerator and transmission will hesitate. Has been more than one occasion when transmission has hestited, hard shifted to different level and has at one occasion randomly shifted to first gear before jumping back to 8th. This appears to be a common issue with Ford's 10R80 transmissions.

Had a problem with hard shifting and up and down shifting out of the blue while driving on interstate. Ford recommended a trans service. Had it done 3 days before trip to NC. For Christmas. On our way home the truck started a hard back and forth up and down shifting. We pulled off highway and found trans fluid everywhere. I could not find a leak. Called and got a tow the next morning to a ford dealer in Georgia. Found trans was overfilled. Made it home but trans is still shifting hard and goes into neutral while driving down the road. You need to recall all these 10 speed trans. I was quoted 7,000 dollars for an overhaul and told I may still have the same issue sooner than later.

The transmission over revs between 3rd and 4th gear. It hesitates then loses power, then slams into the next gear. Once in 10th gear it hesitates when trying to pass other vehicles. When decending hills it quickly jumps to second gear causing the wheels to skip or bounce for a few seconds. When merging onto the highway the hesitation nearly got me rearended. The transmission shop is updating the software and changing the fluid. He said most of these need rebuilt when this happens. Ford told me its a new type of transmission and that I will "get use to it". Repair or replacement is anywhere from $4,000 to $9,000, yet ford keeps selling this defective product. 1st safety problem is while accelerating, there is a rough shift in gears despite being an automatic transmission. While attempting to gradually and safely accelerate, vehicle causes an abrupt deceleration where rpms drop and vehicle occupants are thrown forward during the process. Vehicle was brought to Ford Dealership for repair. They noted a known issue with transmission and completed a software restart/update. Vehicle gear shift improved slightly for short period of time but eventually resumed and is noticeably worse in colder months. This problem has been noticed while turning, resulting in near misses with oncoming traffic and is concerning when entering/merging with traffic at highway speeds. There were no dashboard warning light indicators at any point. Battery was in good condition. 2nd concern: Engine fire ups up on start but stalls while idling when shifting out of park as well as in stopped traffic. "Auto startstop, shift to P, then restart engine" notification presents on gauge display. This requires multiple attempts to get vehicle restarted with following notification instructions and shutting off/restarting engine. Disengaging auto startstop on startup is inconclusive about remedying the situation. Battery was tested as good but replaced anyway due to age to rule out battery related concerns. Contacted Ford dealership service department and they replied, "they have never heard of it happening." They denied knowledge of any TSB, CSP or recalls/complaints about the issue. However, it appears this issue is well documented on multiple Ford models and various production years. Other than instrument/gauge display of "Auto startstop, shift to P, then restart engine" occurring after the fact, there is no warning light indicators. Safety is at risk due to stoppage of traffic and loss of power/ability to accelerate or maneuver vehicle in traffic situations to include clearing intersections with oncoming traffic while turning at low speeds/idling.

My 2019 Ford F150 XLT, began having transmission issues in June of 2024 around the same time the cam phasers failed in the engine (~57K miles). Because the cam phaser failure was the more pressing and unavoidable issue, the dealership focused on the cam phaser repair and ignored my complaints about the transmission shifting hard between 2nd and 4th gear. Within that same month I also had the transmission fluid flushed ~40K miles before recommendation to see if that would resolve the hard and inconsistent shifting issue. It did not, and the dealer stated they could not replicate the problem. Unfortunately the problem became worse, including inconsistent shifting between multiple gears, the transmission "stalling" while it tried to determine which gear to shift to, along with extremely hard "whiplash-like" shifting into gears. These driving conditions resulted in me almost being rear ended several times while trying to enter onto the interstate as cars were accelerating behind me on the on-ramp, while my truck begins a quick deceleration due to missing gears, downshifting and even spinning in a "neutral-like" state while it tries to figure out what gear to shift into. After a couple more visits to the dealership, in which their scanners could not replicate my issues, I was sent on my way to keep driving an unsafe vehicle until either it caused an accident or my transmission completely failed. Fortunately for others, it was the latter situation in which my transmission failed (1st time a warning light appeared) in a hospital parking garage on March 6, 2025, versus me causing an accident. However, all of this could have been avoided if Ford and my local dealership addressed the known issues with the 10R80 10-speed transmission in the 2017-2020 Ford F150 and many other models. The $13K repair bill now that Ford pushed me beyond my powertrain warranty aside, this Ford transmission is EXTREMELY dangerous to the driver and the general public.

2019 F-150 vehicle is equipped with a 5.0L engine that exhibit excessive oil consumption, to where every month i have to add oil. There are no visible oil leaks. Each time i go for oil change before the 3 months and/or recommended 3,000 miles, im told there is no oil in the engine. After doing research, i found that the issue of excessive oil consumption is caused by high intake manifold vacuum during some deceleration fuel shut off events resulting in oil being pulled into the combustion chamber from the crankcase, valve guides, and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV). To correct the condition, steps to reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM), installation of a new engine oil level indicator and change the engine oil and oil filter. The revised PCM calibration reduces engine vacuum during some DFSO events. After calling local ford service center, the issue was confirmed and I was told that there isn't a fix for the problem. I was provided by the Ford service agent the contact information for Fords customer service. Spoke to the agent who told me that there is only a recall for the tailgate for my model. Anything else I would be responsible for repairs. The Ford customer service agent then gave me the website to NHTSA to file a complaint. Now I'm doing just that. It appears that this is a common issue for my year make and model. Please investigate, please help.

While driving, when taking off from a stop. Causing hard jerking and extreme discomfort to me and my passengers. Ford says no recall and to replace the trans. Seeing 100s and f complaints (I’m sure it would be more of people understood hot to report) and NHTSA says they don’t see an issue or need for a recall is unacceptable. Does it take a major accident or someone to get hurt from FORDs outright disregard to fix the issue. Built ford tough is long gone and forgotten. NHTSA is now letting down the consumer, and the people on the road for the disregard for safety and holding these car manufacturers accountable. Do better, recall the 10r80 and make ford pay. Or is ford paying the NHTSA to disregard this multi million dollar fix.

Engine failure. FoMoCo stated it was due to oil failure. I change my oil every 6000 miles according to manufacturer. Warning light came on stating Temporary Emissions Disconnect but never had anything touched on the engine prior to light. Never found the problem. Engine started bucking and was using oil on return home. Ford dealership found #2 cylinder with no compression. Turbos may have blown and put compromised oil into engine causing issue. Dealership never investigated. Filed pictures, receipts and other documents to Ford Consumer Affairs to no avail. Had to have replaced engine on my dime. Old engine was returned to salvage yard used engine purchased from. Was able to limp back home but engine could have had catastrophic failure on the road. The 10R80 transmission on a 2019 F150, with 56,000miles failed on multiple times. It would slip out of gear especially in the lower gears. It has even shifted from 10/9 gear into neutral and then back into 4 gear and stall on the highway. The transmission , make noise, grinds through t the gears all the time. The engine warring lights are on. The vehicle is unsafe to drive with transmission failure and stalling in intersections, while passing and even shifted to low gears or neutral while driving on the highway at 65+ mph. Additionally it causes the engine to race at a high rate of speed or quit. The vehicle is currently at the local Ford Dealer,. The vehicle has been assessed and problem has been identified. The recommended bulletin actions completed. The repairs failed and the vehicle returned due to its unsafe condition. Dealer still has the vehicle and recommended that the transmission be replaced. Dealer filled a claim with my Extended Warranty, who is aware of the problem.

Truck has 85K miles on it and has a loud ticking noise followed by rattle at 1500 rpms even after timing system was rebuilt. Burnes 1qt of oil every 1000 miles. Entire timing system needed to be replaced due to two faulty chain tensioners. Engine was super clean and had zero oil sludge buildup. Currently having a oil consumption test done. Do have repair order that was done for timing system. No warning lights for failed timing system that popped up. I am able to get the repair invoice if needed.

The transmission has been slipping on multiple occasions between 3rd and 4th gear, changing gears very harshly and sometimes forcing the vehicle to speed up rapidly and unexpectedly. I leased a new 2019 Ford f150 xlt sport package in the fall of 2019. During the first year, I experienced some "choking" of the engine when I would accelerate. Nothing big, but noticeable. I mentioned this experience to the dealer at regular checkups and they informed me that it was "normal" and that if anything was wrong, the computerized monitoring system on the truck would identify the problem. I bought the truck after a 36 month lease. The choking continued to be a regular occurance, especially for the first few miles of a new drive. Around 30k miles, I noticed the issue getting more pronounced. I again asked the dealer about it and they provided me the same answer as before and didn't offer to explore the issue. Between 30K and 50K miles, the issue became more frequent and would impact the truck whether it was warm or cold. But now I experienced a hard shift between 1-3 gears and sometime 3-5-- jerking and slowing and struggling to move to the next gear. It will also bog down at times when changing into the higher gears with no telling when this would occur. Again, I asked the dealer about it, and becuase there was no safety light, they wouldn't do a thing. Over the past month or two, at over 50K miles, the frequency was several times on every drive. It started to jump from 8-1 and back up to 8. It would jerk and slow in high traffic situations, and finally it just would not move into gear at a stop sign at rush hour. I had to drop it into low gears and move to the side of the road after 10 minutes of stoppage; then the check engine indicator finally flashed, after an incident that could have caused harm to me or others. I slowly drove it to my destination. Since then, I have not allowed anyone to drive the truck because it is dangerous to operate. I took the truck to the dealer and they informed me that it needs a new transmission which will be ~$5k

Have a 2019 Ford F-150 that began having hesitation issues at approximately in late 2023. Hesitation issues began occuring when the vehicle would sit for hours, then being started and allowed to warm for 2 to 4 minutes before putting it into gear. Once put into gear the vehicle would hesitate, then slip into gear, then seemed to slip into neutral and back into gear. At first the hesitation was very slight and seemed to occur more on inclines than flat surface. By mid 2024 the hesitation became more like a slight bucking and then slip into neutral for several seconds before slipping into gear. This caused safety issues when taking off from intersections and merging into traffic as the vehicle was unable to maintain acceleration and gain the necessary speed to merge, causing other vehicles behind to immediately slow or slam their foot on the brake. When taking off from a stop, the vehicle would slip into neutral, causing the rpms to rev to 6k + and then slipping back into gear, causing the wheels to immediatly spin faster and "spin out", then the vehicle would begin gaining speed but still experience hesitation for off and off for several minutes. Took the vehicle to a friend who is a retired Ford Service Manager who "guessed" that the problem was an EBT and sent me to the local Ford Dealer for proper diagnosis. The service tech at Ford called and said the truck needed a new transmission but at first did not explain why. While the vehicle was at the dealership getting a new transmission, we asked Ford about the transmission recall and he explained there wasn't one and then explained that the issue with our transmission was the CFD Drum. The service receipt we received from Ford at time of payment does not explain the reason for the transmission failure..just the retired service manager's guess. The mileage on the vehicle when the issue began was approximately 75k. The mileage at replacement was 88k.

Evidently there is a problem with the CDF clutch cylinder. There is a bushing that will slip and can cause delayed or rough transitioning into gears. This is on the 10R80 transmission according Ford. We had no idea of this issue till we brought our truck in to Ford to have the system flushed. Which then the service tech asked had we had any issues and we said it has a delay when shifting into gears sometimes as well as when we put it in reverse it seems like it doesn't fully engage and and then when it does engage it is like a jolt and the truck goes at a faster pace since we was pressing the gas thinking we did not give it enough gas to go into reverse. Multiple times my wife has said that it does this when she is backing out of our driveway into the road also while she is backing out of her parking space at school. What is bad is there are no warning lights on the truck for this issue. There are multiple recalls on this transmission that involve updating the computer settings for the trasmission but the real issue is they have not done a recall for this issue which would stop the bushing from sliding causing the delayed/harsh shifts. Since this is an engineering design issue and potential Hazzard while drive this should be a manufacture recall. Ford has already resigned the cylinder in 2022 to address this issue but anything manufactured before that is suppect.

Transmission failure. The transmission skips gears when accelerating. Which is especially not good when you are trying to merge into traffic and the vehicle lurches you as it skips gears. Had it diagnosed at the Ford Dealership and they are saying the truck needs an entire new transmission. Skipping in 2nd-3rd gear and while driving in 10th gear it will drop. We purchased this vehicle used and it now has 103k miles on it. Because we are over a 100k Ford will not help us replace the transmission. I am not sure why there is no recall when this is a reported issue (that I wish I knew of before purchasing the truck).

Transmission failure which resulted in significant loss of power when shifting gears while pulling onto a major road. This caused the vehicle to stall which could have resulted in multi car accident as well as harm to those in vehicle(s). Additionally, there have been multiple hard shifts when accelerating as well as loss or skipping of gears when traveling on the interstate. This has also happened from a stop when turning at intersections, with the transmission falling out of gear completely while driving, causing an unexpected loss of power in traffic. There were no check engine or warning lights prior to these incidents happening. The vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealership who confirmed a new transmission was necessary and said this model is a design flaw and there are known issues with this particular transmission. The check engine light will randomly come on then go away. Fortunately it had come on the way to the dealer for inspection so they pulled the truck right back and ran diagnostics.

2019 F-150 with 3.5L GTDI engine. Cam phasers required to be replaced on truck with 52,000 miles on it. Repair bill of $4800. Ford issued Customer Satisfaction Program ("CSP") notices 21B10 and 21N03 for Ford F-150s manufactured between 2017-2020 equipped with the 3.5L GTDI engine manufactured in Dearborn, Michigan or Kansas. A copy is attached. Under these CSPs, Ford paid for up to 100% of the repair cost, plus 1-day rental vehicle, for owners with vehicles with up to 69,999 miles on them. Ford has refused to apply the CSP to my truck, despite it only having 52,000 miles, because they say the CSP did not apply to my VIN. However, my truck is the same make, model, engine type and manufacturing location as identified in the CSP, and I have the EXACT same engine issue as described in the CSP. I did not receive any letter or recall notice from Ford regarding this issue and they expect me to pay $4,800 to get my truck back from the dealership simply because the CSP "didn't attach to my VIN." It's not a coincidence that my truck has the EXACT same characteristics and engine problem as identified in the CSP. But while thousands of consumers with THE SAME TRUCK had this repair 100% covered by Ford, I have to pay $4,800.

10R80 transmission is failing for the second time since vehicle was purchased new (special order) from Ford Motor Company. Once at 36,000 miles and again at 75,000 miles. Based upon information and belief the CDF drum is to blame. Among other commonly exhibited issues the transmission is randomly and unexpectedly failing to move the vehicle when in traffic, when trying to merge into traffic, and when trying to safely navigate an intersection ... creating a hazardous condition for myself and other motorists. With so many 2018+ F150 vehicles having the same transmission issue, when is NHTSA going to do something about it?!

When pressing the gas pedal to accelerate , the truck will not accelerate rather it begins to rev the engine loudly (as if the gas pedal was being pushed while the truck is in neutral) the RPM shoots high to 6-7 (again the truck isn’t accelerating any faster just loudly revving,) then the truck jolts as if it has just been rear ended. The shifting is stuttering staying stuck in 3rd and 4th gear severing going back to 1 even at a stop. Vehicle messaging alerted 1/10/25 powertrain malfunction /reduced power . However this issues has been going on and Ford Said it was related to a 4x4 control module which was replaced and yet the issues continue. Brought it back to ford because the problem was not fixed and they are asking for payment of additional diagnostic testing and NOW saying it’s a transmission issue AFTER saying it was issue with the control module unit. Fords 10R80 transmission has had known issues that are safety defeats and for years Ford has lied to me that there is nothing wrong with the 10R80 transmission. That they were " Characteristic of the transmission" to avoid fixing the problem under warranty. May 26 2023 Ford released a TSB acknowledging the known issues with the 10R80. (TSB 22-2428 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT Automatic Transmission - Harsh/Delayed Engagement And/Or Harsh/Delayed Shift - Built On Or Before 23-Dec-2022) But as Ford is aware most vehicles are out of Factory Warranty and many lost the whole year of warranty because of the lock down of 2020 ( which Ford didn't give us credit for) so the repair was issued as a TSB then a recall to avoid paying for this repair. The repair is around $7000.00 and Ford now expects customer to pay half to all of this repair for defective and unsafe parts they failed to address when these vehicles were under factory warranty. My vehicle alone was in and out of dealership over 18 time regarding all of these transmission issues like many others. This need to be a recall not a TSB, and Ford needs to address this issues on they dime, not the consumer they lied to for years about this problem.

The Transmission failed. Before the mechanical light went on. As I was driving the vehicle it was having issues switching gears. And at times would loose power and then rev up and speed up. Loss of power and speeding up is a dangerous and frightening situation in a vehicle going at any speed and even more so while traveling on a highway. I had the vehicle towed to the nearest Ford dealership. In speaking with the service manager they recommended replacing the transmission due to the error codes that were produced in the computer. They stated that this was a common issue in this make and model and a replacement would be the best option to avoid future issues. And after researching the issue online there are many people having this same issue. It’s a $10,000 fix and FORD is aware of it and yet there still is no recall on the failure in these transmissions!! Error codes P2703; P2705; P0767

Purchased Dec 4, 2019; followed maintenance requirements through BO Beukcman Quality Ford. Oil changes made IAW Ford guidelines every 5000 miles. Oil change was made Nov 23, 2023 at 49,504 miles. Just before next oil change noticed engine knocking on acceleration/deceleration with intermittent check engine light on. Oil changed at 54,226 miles (Aug 22, 2024). Condition mentioned to dealer. Dealer advised engine was consuming oil. There was no visible sign of leaks. Fix -- install new dip stick, reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Rationale: Ford TSB 19-2365 Dec 5, 2019 quoted as follows: oil consumption "may be due to high intake manifold vacuum during some deceleration fuel shut off (DFSO) events resulting in oil being pulled into the combustion chamber from the crankcase, valve guides and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV)". Supposedly reprogramming would reduce engine vacuum during DFSO events (note: I noticed knocking on acceleration). At the dealership inquired why Ford did not advise customers of condition. They could not answer my question. My F-150 is a 5.0L V8 and was described by dealer as a Coyote engine. I asked if they had similar maintenance events like mine; answer - yes. I was disappointed; have owned previous F-150s and none "consumed" oil like this -- my previous truck had 150,000+ miles -- no oil burning. The dealer instructed me to bring the vehicle back every 1000 miles to check dipstick for consumption. Returned vehicle to dealer at 55,626 and 56,700 miles. On returns, consumption was noted; they topped off my oil with instruction to return again at 57,626 (current mileage 57,435 miles) This is inconvenient and poses a safety risk to me and perhaps others through engine degradation/failure especially while driving. Believe Ford owes the cunsumer a permanent engine fix. Vehicle is available for inspection NHTSA.

2019 Ford 10 speed transmission has been shift hard when slowing down and then accelerating. This week while driving 65 mph the collision warning came on and truck slowed down. There was no traffic near me for any collision. Since then the transmission is not shifting correctly.i had one occasion where the transmission shifted from 8th gear to 1st gear. Very hard, or pausing and then shifting hard. Coming into highway it paused, loss power in front of of oncoming traffic. Very dangerous so I immediately took my vehicle to Ford Dealer and also call the Ford Customer relations to report issue. There is only 75,000 miles on the truck. Transmission shift rough, driving down the road shifts down to first gear, and sometimes does shift into 3rd-4th gear going down the and basically stops me in the middle of traffic until it finally decides to shift. I brought it to ford the first they said the transmission computer needed to be reset, so they did that and it was even worse when I left the parking lot. So I called them the next morning, and they told me to bring it back in that's when they told me my transmission needed to be replaced for $8,000 When I started doing research I found this is a common problem with this certain transmission i called ford corporation and the lady proceeded to tell me they are aware of the issue with this transmission and they are working on a remedy for the issue but they were only willing to pay for half of the cost. But if they know there is a issue(a safety issue) with this transmission then why not fix it for me. Ford 10r80 transmission
