SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2017 F-150 pickup trucks equipped with 3.5L Ecoboost engines. The brake master cylinder may leak brake fluid into the brake booster.
Risk: A loss of brake fluid may result in a change in brake pedal travel and feel, increased pedal effort and reduced front brake function, possibly requiring greater effort and distance to stop the vehicle. These conditions can increase the risk of a crash.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford F-150 and 2018 Ford Expedition and Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles equipped with 10-speed automatic transmissions. A roll pin may not have been installed in the transmission, potentially causing a loss of the "Park" function.
Risk: Despite the transmission shift lever being placed in 'Park' and the instrument panel display indicating 'Park,' the vehicle may roll away after it has been exited if the parking brake has not been applied, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
2017 FORD F-150
6792 vehicles affected
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 F-150 trucks equipped with an eight-inch productivity screen. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 F-150 vehicles equipped with ten-speed transmissions. The pin that attaches the transmission shift linkage to the transmission may come out, preventing the transmission from responding to movement of the shift lever.
Risk: The disconnected linkage may cause the vehicle to not move forward or backward as selected by the driver with the shift lever. Additionally, despite selecting 'Park', if the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle may roll. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash.

These accessory door handle covers may cause the doors to unlatch in a side impact collision. As such, these vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."
Risk: If the doors unlatch and open in a side impact collision, the occupants have an increased risk of injury.

Since purchasing this vehicle from a dealership, I have had repeated problems with getting a blue screen on the rearview camera when truck is in reverse. This results in no visibility for backing up other than mirrors. A soft reset would often resolve the issue. However, now it is nothing but a blue screen. Why is the recent recall not including the F150 trucks?

- Cam Phasers failed. Ford installed faulty Cam Phasers in their 2017-2020 Ford F150 trucks that cost $5,700 to fix. It is a very well known issue. No, you can not inspect the issue due to the fact that you have to take apart the engine to get to them. - When Cam Phasers fully malfunction the engine is blown and will need to replace the engine. - Yes, it was diagnosed by a dealership - No warning lamps. There is a rattling sound when starting the vehicle and after research there is a ton of videos with the exact same thing happening to others.

While driving, my 2017 Ford F-150 with the 6-speed automatic will sometimes suddenly downshift on its own. This causes a hard jerk and a sudden change in speed, which feels unsafe especially at higher speeds. At other times, the truck will not shift into gear at all. For example, when backing out of a driveway or parking spot in reverse and then shifting into drive, the truck stalls. The only way to fix it is to put the truck completely in park, shut it off, and restart it before it will go into gear. This has forced me to be stopped in the middle of the road after backing out, waiting for the truck to restart, which is extremely dangerous when there is oncoming traffic. This has been occurring off and on for a long time now not just one date.

This vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall #25V236 (Ford Recall #25S37) for a defective brake master cylinder that can leak into the brake booster, reducing braking effectiveness and creating a serious crash risk. The recall was issued on April 11, 2025. As of today, Ford has not provided any remedy. My local dealership confirmed that no fix is available, and Ford Corporate has refused to provide a loaner, rental allowance, or written timeline. This leaves me with an unsafe vehicle that I cannot rely on. This recall has been open for months without resolution, and Ford’s refusal to provide assistance places me and the public at risk. I request that NHTSA investigate Ford’s failure to provide a remedy in a timely manner, require Ford to provide comparable loaner/rental vehicles until the repair is available, and hold them accountable for this unreasonable delay.

The lead frame failed and was replaced by Ford dealer. The vehicle downshifts while driving. This through a code “wrench” on the dash board indicating something needed to be addressed. Took vehicle to a couple repair shops and a transmission shop and all confirmed it was a faulty lead frame. Transmission shop said to contact Ford because there had been recalls on this very issue for the same year and model truck. This issue started a couple months prior to the repair which was on 8/8/2025. I did call Ford and they gave me a phone number for Auto Line Program. I filed a complaint but it denied.

When using the truck in S transmission mode , The back wheels unexpectantly lock up due to a severe downshift. I reported this to the Ford Dealer when it first happened likely around 2018. The dealer kept the truck and reviewed the complaint. They reported that they couldn’t reproduce the downshift so nothing was done. I used the truck in that mode as recent as yesterday. I was going downhill around 20 mph and it downshifted hard once again. It seems to happen when the truck is coasting down an inclined road or when driving say 50 mph and pressure on the gas pedal is slightly reduced.

I was driving on the PA turnpike and upon hitting a pothole or bump the mount on the frame that the lower control arm bolts onto broke off. I was going under the speed limit with two small children in the car and a piece of my frame broke off after a slight bump. Every mechanic and person I speak to at ford is saying it shouldn't have happened and they can't believe it. There was no warning and I drove onto the turnpike got almost all the way home before it randomly broke. I spoke with Ford and they are unwilling to help after running my VIN. They say unless I put a complaint in and you open a recall that they will not help me. This is a 2017 truck with minimal rust it should not be breaking off a simple bump on the highway. I had a 9 year old and a 10 month old in the car and the front left of my suspension broke away from the vehicle after routine driving. Something needs to be done about the situation ford should be more concerned they have a frame break on such a new vehicle. Thank you for your time.

On July 18, 2025, I was fueling my vehicle at COSTCO. I put my vehicle in park, exited and left the door open while I waited for my credit card to clear so I could start fueling my vehicle. I was out of the vehicle for about a minute when the vehicle started to move backwards. I was standing between the open door and the drivers seat and was startled when it began to move. I was hopping on one foot trying to get back into the vehicle. Ultimately, the open door hit a column at the station. There was damage done to my door. There was no warning that made me aware that the vehicle wasn't still in park and there was an impending issue.

When I turn my windshield wipers on during rain, I can't turn them back off. They WILL NOT TURN BACK OFF. I have to pull off the road and turn the truck off and then restart the truck.. Sometimes this works and sometimes this doesn't work either. THIS IS A VERY ANNOYING PROBLEM. This can be a safety issue if I am trying to deal with this and get off the road to turn the truck off. I also own a 2019 F150 and now it has started doing the EXACT same issue. I don't feel this is a problem for the owner. I feel there is a defect in these two trucks. I feel there should be a recall on this issue. I have talked to the Ford dealership about this issue. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The date this first started is around April 2025 but I don't know the exact date. THANK YOU VERY MUCH:

My dealership wants over 1k to fix which I refuse to pay. This issue was created by poor engineering and craftsmanship on Fords end and the consumer should not have to pay to fix this known issue. I understand there is a fix that involves a 1-piece aluminum pan, as seen on many you tube videos. I'm requesting that Ford be held responsible for fixing this issue and not the consumer, who paid a lot of money for this truck. Any help in getting this resolved would be greatly appreciated.

Very dangerous on the interstate traveling at 70mph+, seems to happen more frequently on hotter days. You can park & turn off vehicle, then crank back up, & it is out of limp mode but transmission is sluggish. Initially it was happening once per week on avg, now it is a toss up on each drive I do whether it goes into limp mode or not.

My truck dies for no reason when in park, or drive going very slowly. My vehicle is available for inspection if desired. This is very dangerous to have a running vehicle die when driving, or stopped at a red light. This has happened multiple times. I usually know when it's about to happen because my vehicle shakes, sometimes very hard, right before it happens. The dealership has stated that it will be expensive to diagnose because it happens irregularly, and they have no idea what could be causing it. No warning lamps, engine light, or any messages prior to staling. However, as stated prior, sometimes the vehicle shakes just before stalling. My vehicle is a 2017, and this just began about seven months ago. I had just had the dealership put in a new transmission and water pump . It never happened prior to that service.

When the vehicle is started, the cam phasers rattle, and yes, it is available for inspection upon request. Ford mechanics and other mechanics have stated that if not replaced, the cam phasers will eventually fail. This puts others at risk as the auto start/stop feature shuts the engine off anytime the vehicle comes to a stop. If the cam phasers failed while stopped in the road, the vehicle would not start back up, causing a rear end collision and possible injury/death to anyone on the road. The problem exists in the 2015-2018 Ford F150 3.5L ecoboost. Ford resolved the issue in the 2019 model F150 by replacing the cam phasers with ones that are built with better quality. I am unsure if the vehicle issue has been inspected by others. There have been no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. It first appeared in my vehicle around this year.

This incident has occured twice. The first time, February 2025, I was driving the vehicle at approximately 55mph with Cruise Control engaged. The vehicle took itself off cruise and drop shifted to 1st gear. The rear tires skidded but I was able to pull over safely. Wrench warning on the screen. I shut off the vehicle. Restarted and the wrench icon was still present and vehicle would not shift to higher gears. Restarted again and the issue was gone. Independent service center could not find any issues or reproduce the problem. The second instance, July 1st 2025, occurred while towing a travel trailer. I was traveling at 25mph and the truck shifted to 1st and the rear tires locked briefly. The wrench icon appeared on the dash and then disappeared. It happened again just a minute or so later and then did not reoccur. Due to the low speed, no injuries occurred and control was maintained. I am certain that if this had happened at highway speed, there would have been an accident.

I had a slight oil leak that was getting worse over time. It got to the point one day, I was seeing minimal smoke coming out from the hood and wheel wells. I was on my way home from work one day, and as soon as I got off the interstate, as soon as I stopped at the stop light, the whole hood was covered with smoke billowing out everywhere, and the scent of fire. I quickly shut the truck off and grabbed my fire extinguisher, thinking my truck was on fire. I took it to a local shop I’m familiar with, and he said both valve covers were warped, and there is a TSB out from Ford about this issue. The valve covers, over time, will warp, causing oil to slosh out onto the hot exhaust manifold, and everything else. He said they have had multiple 3.5 EcoBoost motors in, and everytime they have an oil leak, it’s a warped valve cover. He told me that Ford makes a replacement valve cover with a different material, but I see this as a MAJOR fire risk! Oil getting out and combusting on an exhaust manifold, that’s not safe at all, and could easily ignite. It really upsets me that Ford will make the new part, but not recall the vehicle to fix the issue. I had to pay $1,700 to have it all fixed and safe. I have a Foster Child and it jeopardizes his safety, along with my wife and I.

I was driving on [XXX] in Dallas when the top track that holds the rear sliding window became detached from the inside of the truck, causing the sliding glass window to fall forward and into the vehicle. This window falling created a void causing me to have to pull over and repair it the best I could. I have since learned that Ford used double sided tape and a small amount of adhesive to attach the track to the vehicle. I have also learned that this is a very common problem with this window track system. My truck is being inspected by Ford this morning, but I was told that there are no active recalls for this defect. There was no advance warning for this window failure. The indicator that displays what gear it is in disappeared but the rpm went form 1,500 up to 3,000 very abruptly. The intake manifold on this series of trucks is a commonly found failure. It is costly as it requires complete disassembly and reinstall for internal components, that lead to poor performance and eventual engine damage if not repaired. I had a SES code 2019 flag for this and required me to have >$1500 repair to resolve by a reinstall of a new intake manifold by the Ford Dealer on May 21, 2025. This should have been recalled with the vast number of problems seen online and that the dealer had this part in stock as it is so common. I was only 50d after my extended ESP warranty when it went.

Truck has been downshifting at low gears prior to this main incident. Usually at low speeds between the 1-3 gears. But today I was driving down the highway at approximately 65 mph in the 6th gear and without warning it seemed to electrically down shift into 1st gear. I describe it as electrically because the Rpm’s dropped almost instantly for a second and seemed to reboot. Which is extremely dangerous especially on a busy highway. Not only could I cause me to crash but also others to wreck into my self and poses a incredible risk for my fellow drivers And this is the reason for my complaint. Going from the 6th gear to 1st has to be some sort of recall and or an indication of far greater problem. What is even more odd there have been no check engine lights on for any of these instances.

My apologies, I sent prematurely, case number 11664674 is already open, but I wanted to add to it. My 2017 Ford F-150 with the 2.7L EcoBoost engine has experienced recurring coolant loss and is now showing signs of internal engine damage. I initially reported the issue to the Ford dealership in November 2024, but no issue was found. On May 23, 2025, the dealership told me I need a new engine. My independent mechanic suspects cracked intake valves or internal coolant intrusion — a known defect in the 2.7L EcoBoost engine. This appears to be the same issue identified in class action lawsuits and previous NHTSA complaints. I feel the vehicle is now undrivable due to my fear of imminent engine failure. My extended warranty expired in December 2023, but the problem started well before that with white smoke coming out of the tail pipe upon cold starting. I am requesting NHTSA investigate these recurring issues, as this appears to be a widespread and unsafe defect affecting multiple years of the Ford 2.7L EcoBoost engine. I'm reporting an issue that was previously reported on earlier model F150's with the transmission sensor. I had an error code come up and the truck would not shift out of 3rd gear. After taking it to the shop they said it was likely the speed sensor within the transmission, and that the whole transmission casing and sensor needed to be replaced since it causes issues with shifting. After research, this has been under investigation, and clearly needs to be addressed. This is going to cost thousands to repair an issue that has been known on these 6 speed transmissions by Ford. Noticed 6months after purchase on our way to Juneau Alaska from Arizona. I was driving my 2017 F150 and pulling a 8’x12’ toy hauler trailer on freeway doing 65 mph, I merged lanes to get off the freeway on off ramp. I took my foot off the accelerator got about half way down ramp and the transmission did major downshift to like second gear. Didn’t know what to expect so I just changed it from tow haul mode to drive mode on the end of the shifter handle. It seem to make it the rest of the way to Juneau Alaska. Just thought it was a weird one time thing. Didn’t really have any issues again till about 2022. I was driving in Juneau doing 60mph with my wife , mother and father in-law in the back seats and experienced it again, a major downshift not sure to what gear, it really threw all of us forward and luckily no one was behind me at the time or I would have been rear ended. Very scary to be driving on the road. Also noticed a couple more times when it did that there was nothing, no acceleration on the gas pedal. It seems to come and go. I took it in to the only place that repairs Fords here where I live. My five year factory warranty expired, I had a eight year extended but they would not cover the expense because they are not a official Ford dealer. I paid $1,834.38 to have the main control MB3Z-7A100-A part in the transmission replaced with filter, fluid replaced to at the same time. It seem to have fixed the high speed downshift for now, but noticed at slow speeds on deceleration letting my foot off accelerator I noticed it slips from like third to neutral and if I go to re-excelerate it slips back up to gear it left. There needs to be a National Recall on these Transmissions just like the 2014 F150’s. The Dealers are still using the same parts and build of these transmission’s as they did back then. Please put out a recall because after years of this issue it sounds like there are thousands of others dealing with this issue.

I called Ford Customer Care and filed a complaint. on April 7th i took it to Richmond Ky AAMCO Transmission. They advised there is a TSB (technical service Bulletin on the LEAD Frame. The Lead frame houses all the electronic components to the shift solenoid plate. this frame unit is the culprit. and gets dirt between the solenoid electric pigtails causing shorts which causes the trans to freakout. Needless to say it cost me 1600.00 to get this issue fixed. they replaced the lead frame put in a fam spacer that protects the the sominoid connections, the also replaced the solenoid valve plate. Multiple occasions in recent weeks where truck has downshifted rapidly and unexpectedly at cruising highway speeds from 6th gear to 2nd. First incident was on March 8, 2025, while pulling a horse trailer at highway speed of 55mph where truck downshifted from 6th to 2nd causing a sudden slow down of vehicle and risk of crash while pulling trailer. Most recent incident occurred while accelerating as truck was shifting upward through gears it suddenly downshifted to 2nd causing rear wheel lock up. In all incidents the check engine light would come on, pulling off to side of road, turning power off and back on again would reset the truck and check engine light would go away. On April 10, 2025 the truck was taken to the local Ford dealer for a routine service and issues with the transmission downshifting were pointed out and asked to be looked at. The report said there is "TCC slipping actual and TCC desire slipping 100RPMS". The recommend repair was a complete transmission replacement due to high milage. Vehicle currently has 121k miles. I declined repairs at that time due to cost of complete transmission replacement. On April 26, 2025 truck was taken to local SMOG station for routine SMOG inspection for DMV. Truck failed test due to check engine light being on and error code being reported. The error code being reported is "P0720 - Output Speed Sensor Circuit".

The transmission has been chattering, slipping, and making weird noises since I bought the truck. There are times where the truck will roll forward several feet after I've placed the shifter in park and remove my foot from the brake pedal. In my opinion these issues are definitely dangerous and can get someone seriously injured or fatalities could occur.

I have had 2 incidents where my vehicle has suddenly shifted into 1st gear at highway speeds(65-70+mph). I was alone in the vehicle each incident. This caused a sudden and violent loss of speed and nearly locking up the rear wheels, both while entering the freeway. Vehicles behind me had to take evasive action and I had to quickly maneuver to the side of the road. The vehicle operated normally immediately following both incidents. This truck has a 10R80 transmission and has known failures of the CDF drum due to poor construction/quality of internal bushings(pressed in). Ford has since revised this(welded, anti-walk bushing) in newer vehicles but has not addressed the vehicles prior to the revision. I have had no warning lights or codes, nor any other indications this issue was occurring. This vehicle has been maintained well and all services/intervals performed at Ford service departments. I have an appointment in the coming weeks with a local Ford service department for a diagnostic check. The service rep advised based on details I have provided I have CDF failure. This issue has a cascading effect and may require full transmission replacement to rectify. All warranties have expired, repair costs can exceed 30% of current vehicle value.

Transmission slightly lunges forward after a delay in pushing the gas pedal down - like a throttle surge. The item is not available for inspection. Safety put at risk relative to unexpected slight acceleration. Independent Service Center has verified the problem on 03.25.2025 after I asked for a diagnosis. I was given a TSB 23-2250 for further processing with the local Ford Dealer, since vehicle was under a paid extended warranty. The vehicle is in the shop now for faulty phasers, leaking oil pan, and the subject hesitency and surge of the transmission. The suspected transmission problem has not yet been confirmed by the Ford Dealer Service Center. There were no warning messages or warning lamps indicating I had a problem. The action relative to the acceleration surge just happened. Attachment 1 was the mechanics invoice for making a diagnosis not a repair Attachment 2 was my note to the mechanic specifically outlining items to check for verification Attachment 3 was a TechServiceBulletin he stapled to my invoice informing me that there was a TSB out on the transmission.

while installing new shocks my mechanic saw that the frame is rusted to the point of being unsafe to drive, some of the connections of the truck bed and cab we so rusted they were disconnected. there were holes 1-2" in diameter in the main frame. took the truck to local dealer which inspected it ask said the frame needed to be changed, when I asked if the truck was safe to drive the service rep did not want to answer the question, only said "frame has to be changed" I left the truck there as I did not want to sign any release of liability as felt unsafe driving the truck. I am first owner, bought the truck brand new and always maintained it and took good care of it.

On March 30th I filed a complaint #11654561. Since that time the vehicle has progressively gotten worse. Traveling at approximately 55 mph the tires suddenly locked up/stopped rolling at normal speed, jerked the truck and I was flung forward. the vehicle would not go over 15 mph AGAIN! Then, on [XXX] I was traveling home approximately 65 mph and truck downshifted and wouldn't move beyond 20 mph. This is getting out of control that I continue to have transmission problems with this vehicle. Talking with a Ford representative he said many problems have been with the transmission conductor plate, there is a defect and having it replaced with any product other than the Ford piece seems to resolve the problem. This is incredible, Ford is telling me what the problem is and won't fix it. How many other people are going through this same problem and we as Ford customers are being scammed of safety repairs. My truck is invaluable to trade in and I'm terrified to drive it. Please, hear my distress and help with a recall to fix our vehicles. Additionally, I just bought this truck approximately 7 months ago. For the 1st 30 days all was OK but as soon as I started traveling at higher speeds this problem appeared. I am afraid for not only my safety but for other drivers if this truck continues to act not safe in traffic. While maintaining a fixed speed (~55mph) up a slight incline, the vehicle rapidly shifted from 6th gear to a lower (presumably 1st given rpm/torque change) gear. While in normal use at that speed in 6th gear, the torque converter is in a "locked up" (direct mechanical connection) state- the sudden gear change plus "locked up" torque converter caused the engine speed to rapidly jump past its "red-line." Unable to compensate for the instant change in torque, the rear wheels locked up and the truck began to slide- I was able to regain control of the vehicle as it slid off the road and come to a stop. No injuries. After stopping briefly to assess the situation, I got underway- it became quickly obvious that the transmission has sustained extensive damage in the incident as it began to "shudder" intermittently. Further research and testing by myself using consumer diagnostic tools revealed that the torque converter sustained damage, particularly in the internal clutch (the mechanism that allows for a direct engine to transmission connection at high speed for better fuel economy), which is now failing to fully engage and disengage at some speeds and causing the transmission to "shudder". This conclusion was reached by observing the "desired torque converter slip" (measured in rpm) and comparing to the "measured torque converter slip" during a variety of conditions. It is unclear to me what caused the sudden gear change, but it caused extensive (and expensive) damage to my vehicle. This problem presents a major safety concern to myself and other vehicles around me and could result in a crash if it occurs again. Other F150s (one body-style older I believe) with the same transmission had a similar recall recently- had this also been addressed by the manufacturer on the 15-17 trucks, this incident (and extremely costly repair) may have been prevented.

Vehicle would downshift to 3rd or 1st gear and will not shift out of that gear at any speeds. Would happen at randomly at highway speeds or just from accelerating from a stop, causing dangerous speed changes while on highway. Turning engine/keys completely off and back on will reset the error. Service wrench light would also come on occasionally when this happens. This issue has been prevalent for the last few years since after hitting 60k miles mark. Inspection is available upon request. Issue cannot be reproduced on demand, only randomly. Issue has not been evaluated by any service technicians or dealerships or any other persons except myself using a diagnostics code scanner. Using a diagnostic scanner shows error code "P0722-00 Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal - Not Current DTC."

I talked to dealership that preformed the “recall” previously and they stated that no part was replaced and ford issued a software update to use as a bandaid instead of a permanent repair. It will cost upwards of $6,000+ to repair through dealer and ford refuses to be of assistance. If the engine implodes on the highway, it can cause a major accident and/or fatal injury to many drivers.

The truck will spontaneously downshift when driving. This creates a intense bang and vibration in the vehicle with an instantaneous speed change of vehicle. It's quite scary when it happens. I don't believe that it's any good for the drive shaft or rear end with such a sudden instantaneous transmission shift. I fear for additional damage it to the vehicle and the existing drivetrain when this occurs and could cause an accident if someone is following too close to the back of me when this happens.

Truck began downshifting from 6th gear to 5th numerous times at highway speeds (60ish mph). Wrench warning light would randomly come on, Service Engine Soon light would intermittently come on, followed by the dashboard totally blanking out. In one day on a drive to work, it started shifting from 6th to 4th. On the way home the same day, it shifted violently from 6th to 2nd gear hard at highway speed. The occurrence was a big safety concern as it was raining out - almost skidded out of control. As the truck was being driven into the dealership, there was NO acceleration - just revving of the engine which could have caused a major accident while having to cross two lanes of oncoming traffic. They diagnosed it as follows: 108572 found DTCP0706, P0707, P1702 / 20107 CF / MB3Z*7A100*B Transmission Control Assembly / FL3Z*7A098*B Screen Assembly / 7-XT*10QLVC Auto Transmission Oil. I was experiencing hard shifting in upper gears like 8, 9 and 10. At 118592 miles the Ford dealer told me the transmission needed to be replaced. I had them install a Ford remanufactured transmission. The dealer told me this reman should have all the upgrades of the latest transmissions. Reman number is JL3Z 7000L. At around 123000 miles I experienced the following. I had the cruise control set at 74mph. On an upgrade I felt a hard shift. I noted the transmission was in 8th gear. Then it shifted to 9th, 10th and then to 1st. The truck was suddenly slowing down for what seemed like 3 to 5 seconds before shifting into 10th. I did not hit the brakes. Cruise control was still engaged. Suddenly it repeated the shifting from 10 to 9 to 8 to 9 to 10 to 1st and then 10th. The wrench warning turn on and 10th gear was locked out. After cycling the engine off and on again I have not experienced this again. I did notice after the incident my vehicle had an oily residue on the exterior. I was traveling on a dry road with few cars around me and good tires. I did not consider it a safety concern until I read about the 6 speed transmissions experiencing this and the their safety concerns. What if someone had been behind me, what if the road had been slick, what if my tires had not been in good condition? I searched ford forums online and was surprised to find others as recently 2023 have reported exactly the same experience on 2018 F150. The fact that my transmission is supposedly what is in the 2025 concerns me. I waiting to get my truck back into Ford Service.

While traveling at approximately 75 MPH, the transmission downshifted one(1) speed for about 5 seconds, then upshifted back into high Gear. I briefly got a readout that said "seeking parameters." This issue has happened multiple times. While driving at highway speeds, the truck downshifts too many gears and causes the back tires to almost skid, causing all the passengers in the vehicle to slam forward. When this happens, it doesn't matter if you try to accelerate, manually shift gears, put it in tow mode, nothing works. Then all of the sudden, it will shift back into a higher gear and let you accelerate again. It started a couple of years ago, but at the time Ford was just now addressing the issue with vehicles under warranty and recalled them. Ford was stating that it was a software issue, but after a few months, people that got the new software stated that the issue came back. March of 2024, Ford released a TSB on how to fix the issue, but refuses to admit that it is a safety issue and recall it. My truck was dropped off this morning at the Ford Dealership. I am hoping that the TSB is a permanent fix. IT wasn't until I got to work that I saw the news that Ford is finally being investigated for this as a safety issue. Hopefully it turns into a recall and I can get reimbursed.

My 2017 2.7l 6 speed f150 frequently experiences a random downshift to 1gear at various speeds and then it shifts to 5th gear and then 4th gear and then it stays in 4th gear. Multiple transmission shops have noted that the lead frame and valve body are potentially responsible for the downshift because the previous generation 6 speeds had the same issue. No codes are populating when the downshift happens and no CEL or Wrench light come onto the screen. The only way to get the truck to shift properly again is to turn it off and wait a while and then turn it back on. This problem has been reproduced by independent service centers.

To Whom It May Concern, I am filing a complaint regarding a premature engine failure in my 2017 Ford F-150 Platinum (VIN: [XXX] ), which has only 88,000 miles and has been meticulously maintained at an authorized Ford dealership. Despite following all scheduled maintenance, I am told I must replace the entire engine for nearly $20,000. Over the past two years, I have spent over $2,000 on repairs (outside of standard maintenance), including replacing the cam phasers due to a known issue. After that, I experienced engine bank problems. The turbo was not properly reconnected during a later service, requiring immediate correction. The truck ran fine until one day, on a short 10-mile drive, I received a low oil pressure warning and had it towed back to Chapman Ford, where I was informed that the engine had failed. This failure is unexpected and unreasonable for a vehicle that has been properly maintained and used primarily for highway driving. It has created a severe financial burden, especially as I transition to self-employment, support a college-bound daughter, and manage transportation as a one-vehicle household. Given numerous reports of similar 3.5L EcoBoost engine failures, I urge the NHTSA to investigate whether this is a systemic issue. Consumers should not face catastrophic engine failures at such low mileage, especially in a vehicle marketed for durability. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to any steps the NHTSA may take. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The cam phaser broke down and would have destroyed the engine if left unattended. This could have led to the car breaking down in the middle of the road. Problem has been reproduce by Ford, this has happened with countless other trucks as well. The item has been fixed by Ford but costed $4000. there were no alarms, letting me know that this was happening, but there was a distinct sound when starting up my truck and accelerating my car. It made a rattling noise in the engine bay.

Safety recall 17S33 has been completed on my 2017 F150. The truck is not driven that much, and this year has been unusually cold. My door latches have been freezing again making it impossible to close the door. In some cases, you don't know until the door just flies open. Several times now I have had to drive down the road holding the door/doors closed until the latches decide to thaw enough to actuate. I contacted Ford and was told that the repair was only warrantied for 2 years. A quick search online and there is a multitude of owners still having this issue. This is unacceptable for a life-threatening Safety defect that the manufacture has known about and is too cheap to correct the problem permanently.

I have an invoice regarding multiple leaks on the engine, and loud rattling noise from the cam phasers. This engine is notorious to have these leaks from every forum I have read. It doesn’t seem to have a mileage relation either. The problem I have with this is that these leaking components can leak fast enough for a customer to not notice and can lose lubrication within the engine leading to premature wear and tear. The cam phasers have been revised but should all be replaced. If the cam phasers are in charge of timing control and valve train manipulation and if they fail they could throw the engine out of timing and cause a massive malfunction, bent valves, connecting rods, damaged pistons etc. this needs to be addressed as it is a lengthy and expensive repair. This effects all ecoboost engines. After multiple online chats, phone calls and 6 emails, ford is not willing to budge and help their customers with this issue and offer any compensation. Also, I had the oil pan replaced 2 years and 5 months ago due to it leaking. I think this stems from it being made of a plastic compound. Oil gets hot and cold and the weather in Minnesota changing so rapidly causes this to fail so early.

2017 F150 transmission 10R80 started failing at 80K miles and completely failed at 113K. Dealer was asked to inspect the transmission but they misdiagnosed it. It is available for inspection until it is returned to Ford as part of complete swap\core charge. In the beginning the hard shifting did not put occupants at risk. As the transmission continued to fail it did put occupants and others at risk. Is would loose power/not respond to accelerator. Hunt for gears, shift from high gears to low gears while moving. Shifting to 1st gear while traveling at 45 miles per hour. Several times it would start to move from a stop but then not continue to move forward (in heavy traffic) The dealer miss diagnosed the problem and severity at 90K miles. They told me the transmission would continue to have firmer shifts while it was relearning programing. The dealer diagnosed a complete transmission failure based on codes DTSC P0734 and P07F7 stored in the transmission control module (at 113K miles). Their recommendation is a new upgraded replacement transmission from Ford due to internal failure. Ford Motor has been contacted through the customer service number 800-392-3673. There were no visible warning/check engine lights in the beginning (80K miles). Symptoms included harsh/delayed shift and harsh/delayed engagement. 20K miles later (113K miles) check engine light said to check the owner manual but didn't display codes. Transmission started to severely/erratically hunt for gears. Shift to 1st gear from higher gears (5,6,7,8) with very harsh down shifts.

My 2017 Ford F-150 demonstrates every single aspect of an existing recall for 2017 F150 vehicles. However my VIN number is not included in the recall. My truck shifts suddenly in and out of gear causing me to have momentary instances of no power. This has happened, for example, turning left on busy roads with acceleration disappearing in critical moments. The vehicle downshifts suddenly on occasion. The gear indicator moves rapidly between gear 10 and gear 1. The vehicle routinely does not downshift to 1st gear at stoplights. The vehicle often shifts hard from gear to gear. The vehicle sometimes cannot go to the next gear, say from 7 to 8, and will be in some version of neutral during this time before finally connecting. Electronic issue plague this particular vehicle. All of these items have been noted in the existing recall. I am requesting an expansion of the recall to include all 2017 Ford F150's with 10 speed transmission. Ford dealer has indicated I need to replace the transmission for close to $10K. And they noted they see this problem constants - showing me a stack of folios in their repair facility for the same reason. The problem has been diagnosed by Ford dealer and an independent qualified transmission specialist shop This is an ongoing issue - per the questions below there is no specific date associated with the issue.

I live in a cold climate, WA State, and own a 2017 Ford F150 XLT. On several occasions, both the drivers front door and passenger front doors have opened while driving without activating the door handle. This only occurs when it is wet with rain or snow and below freezing outside. This truck has already been into the Ford dealer and the door recall notice has been addressed and fixed per Corwin Ford. The problem has not been resolved and continues to this day in an extremely dangerous state. I was advised there was nothing else they could do to help the door suddenly and unexpectedly opening issue and that I should contact both Ford and NHTSA. This is a very dangerous situation as my son was driving home from the ski resort, the doors would not latch shut and a passenger nearly fell out of the vehicle. This is unacceptable and extremely disappointing. I feel this safety issue has not been handled by Ford Motor Company and I am very afraid to have my son drive this truck in this dangerous condition. My 2017 Ford F150 STX with 3.5L Ecoboost engine was recently noted to have a leaking oil pan. I was told by my mechanic that the OEM plastic/composite Ford oil pans have a chronic problem with leaking seals. Replacing with another OEM pan is highly likely to result in another leak down the road. Replacement at my local dealer is in the range of $3,000.00. Even the service representative admitted that this was a recurring problem with these pans. I note that other TSBs have been issued for this problem. According to several Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), Ford F150 vehicles, particularly those with 2.7L EcoBoost engines, may experience oil pan leaks due to issues with the RTV sealant on the oil pan gasket, often requiring a replacement of the oil pan itself; this problem is most prevalent in models from 2015-2018, with TSB numbers like 19-2205 and 20-2051 referencing this issue.

The wiring for the rear defrost caught fire. A week later it caused the rear glass to completely shatter. We didn't know it was the rear defrost wiring until we had the glass replaced and were able to see the wires fried. I have farm animals and routinely leave my 3 children in their carseats in the truck with it running when it's cold outside and I feed our animals. If it had caught fire with my kids in the truck I wouldn't have known and they wouldn't have been able to get out. I talked to 2 Ford dealerships, 2 different lawyers and a service rep through Ford's website. Even though this exact issue is everywhere on Ford Forums no one will do anything about it because there's no current recall. The only thing we could do to make sure this doesn't happen again is to pull the fuse for the rear defrost. This is a devastating accident waiting to happen and no one will do anything about it.

With my kids in the vehicle and driving down the road at normal operating speeds the doors will just pop open enough to hear the road noise outside and the interior lights come on along with the doors open warning on the main dash. My children have to hold onto the door handles to keep the doors somewhat closed until we get to our destination. While this happens I am forced to go lower than normal speed limits and drastically slow down in turns just to keep the doors from swinging open while completing the turns all while my kids hold onto the doors. This is extremely dangerous. But I'm forced to do this as my kids need to get to school and I need to get to work. I have read that Ford has chosen this is not a concern for recall. I feel this should be a recall as peoples lives are at danger of flying out and and the danger to the general public.

This is a MAJOR issue with Ford F150s. I am not sure how this was never a recall. Ford issues a TSB for this but NOTHING is the TSB fixes the issue. There is a major fault in the IWE system that causes the 4x4 to engage randomly causing the truck to have major steering issues. It causes grinding, like metal on metal grinding, the steering wheel locks in place at times and I personally almost dies several times from this. The locking steering wheel caused me to crash into a ditch because I could not bring the steering wheel back to center. This has randomly happened to me several times while driving, The TSB claims the issue to be intermittent, which it is due to the fault in this IWE system. FOrd needs to literally cover and replace the entire IWE system before someone gets hurt. Please look this up, this is a very known issue that deserves to be a recall and not a TSB. Please help save lives.

This first began when we went to Oregon from dry Central Valley in California and hit rain. Multiple error messages appeared: Service Advance Trac, Check 4x4, Hill Assist Not Available, ABS, Steering Assist Fault, etc. Power steering assist was lost and is now intermittent which creates a dangerous situation. The ABS brakes made load groaning noises. I went to O’Reilley’s and used their OBD2 scanner. It showed codes: U1012-00, U0212-00, U0121-00, P062C-00, all being communication errors. I got a new battery and had a shop scan it. The clockspring was bad so it was replaced with an OEM from Sunrise Ford. He can’t get any communication with any of the other modules. I researched the issues and disconnected the battery while I cleaned the ABS controller connection with electrical contact cleaner. I checked some of the grounding points that weren’t checked by the shop. All of the error messages are now gone except the STEERING ASSIST FAULT. My research showed that this may be related to a wheel speed sensor or the front hub that contains the sensor. It also might be the ABS controller. I entered Engineering Test Mode and have the following continuous DTCs: C40182, C12100, C41582, C42082, C15100, C21200, C42982, C10200. Since they all end in 00 or 82 I think they are likely related. I was told in an online forum that they are communication errors. I think that might apply to the 00 errors, but don’t know about the 82 errors. The truck has under 28,000 miles and the extended warranty expired in May 2024.

I was drinking home from work one day traveling at a rate of 60 mph and all of a sudden the transmission shifts into 2nd gear which made me come to a fast stop with no warning and would not allow me to accelerate to the posted speed limit. This is very dangerous and it’s a common issues that ford will not take accountability for.

The transmission-10 speed. Yes it is available. The vehicle has been exhibiting on and off hard shifting since early December. Yesterday while crossing an intersection the vehicle went out of gear and would not move. A car behind me traveling at normal speed had to brake and swerve into the next lane to avoid hitting my vehicle. After contacting a few transmission shops they all confirmed that this has been an ongoing issue with these transmissions and they could not work on it and the only option was to replace it. Additionally Ford seems to be aware of the problem as they have issued a number of TSB's. The vehicle has not been inspected. The only thing I noticed was that the 1-10 gear indicator turned off.
