POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM)
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014 F-150 vehicles. A loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module can cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.
Risk: Unexpectedly downshifting into first gear may result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
2014 FORD F-150
292311 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2017 F-150 pickup trucks equipped with 3.5L Ecoboost engines. The brake master cylinder may leak brake fluid into the brake booster.
Risk: A loss of brake fluid may result in a change in brake pedal travel and feel, increased pedal effort and reduced front brake function, possibly requiring greater effort and distance to stop the vehicle. These conditions can increase the risk of a crash.
2014 FORD F-150
94605 vehicles affected
SEAT BELTS
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014 Ford F-150 and E-350, 2014-2015 Ford Escape, and 2015 Lincoln MKC vehicles. Improperly manufactured bolts may have been used to install certain seats, seatbacks, seatbelt buckles, or seatbelt anchors on these vehicles.
Risk: The improperly manufactured bolts may fracture. If a seat, seatback, or seatbelt anchor attaching bolt fractures, the affected component may not be properly secured, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

225012 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FLUID
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 F-150 vehicles manufactured August 1, 2013, to August 31, 2014 equipped with 3.5L engines. The master cylinder rear cup seal may roll, resulting in brake fluid leakage from the primary reservoir into the brake booster.
Risk: Loss of brake fluid from the primary reservoir results in a complete loss of front brake function, increasing the risk of a crash.
2014 FORD F-150
4647 vehicles affected
STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 Ford F-150 trucks manufactured May 26, 2014 to June 19, 2014, and equipped with Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). The affected vehicles may have an incorrectly installed EPAS gear motor position sensor magnet that can lead to a total loss of steering control while driving.
Risk: A loss of steering control while driving increases the risk of a vehicle crash.
2014 FORD F-150
113418 vehicles affected
SEATS
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 Ford F-150 and Flex vehicles manufactured March 1, 2014, to May 31, 2014. The affected vehicles were manufactured with a reduced clearance between the seat frame and the seat track assembly. This can cause the Occupant Classification System (OCS) to inaccurately register passenger weight and improperly suppress the passenger front airbag when the passenger seat is occupied by an adult passenger. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Risk: Improper suppression of the passenger airbag increases the risk of an injury to the seat occupant in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front passenger airbag.
2014 FORD F-150
618 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:PEDALS AND LINKAGES
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 F-150 vehicles manufactured March 1, 2014, to March 13, 2014. The affected vehicles may have a brake pedal position switch that is improperly adjusted. As a result, the brake lights may illuminate with a delay or not at all. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Risk: If the brake lights fail to illuminate, or illuminate after a delay, there is an increased risk of a crash.

Rear backup camera shows a blank screen intermittently / unpredictably. The dealership was unable to replicate it (because it occurs intermittently) while in for another repair so no repair attempt was made. It makes backing out of parking spaces safely difficult. It's been like this for about 5 years. I can make it available for inspection.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The "Brake Fluid Low" message was displayed on the instrument panel soon after the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and brake fluid was added; however, the failure persisted while continuing to drive. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure, and the vehicle was towed to a dealer. While at the dealer, the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective brake master cylinder and brake booster. The contact was informed that the parts needed to be replaced. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V332000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle remained with the dealer unrepaired. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.

My truck was recalled. Software updated to correct a sudden downshift to 1st. The software update did not correct the problem. The software update was done TWICE. The Dealer said: "Software update doesn't always fix the sudden downshift problem, unfortunately. You will have to pay to correct the sudden downshift problem. Replacing the rails should fix it. Estimate repair would be about 1300.00 " It ended up costing me $1246.79 to repair the "sudden downshift" (which was the reason for the Safety Recall Notice 24S37 / NHTSA Recall 24V444, in the first place) Ford should be forced to reimburse me for paying for the powertrain Safety Recall 24V444, as the software download didn't work and doesn't always work, despite Ford's knowledge of this issue. Their responsibility doesn't end there. I called Ford Customer Service, and they were not helpful.

Vehicle drove fine to work and upon getting in to return home and staring the vehicle, the brake pedal was instantly spongy and low brake fluid alert displayed on dash. There was a difference in 9 hours from when the brakes were fully functional to having brakes were completely out and nonfunctional. Had vehicle towed to local dealership and their diagnosis was "master cylinder is bleeding into the booster" and booster "full of brake fluid." This exact issue has been known and was supposed to be addressed but there have been numerous issues with the new parts installed after the recall leading to subsequent master cylinder/booster failures. Since it has already been "repaired" under the initial recall, the subsequent repair cost $1,300 including diagnostic.

While leaving the VA parking lot, and after breaking 3 times on the way out, as I approached a major intersection, the break pedal dropped to the floor and a low break fluid warning appeared on the display. My slow approach allowed me to stop. Checked the reservoir and it was empty. I walked to the gas station and purchased break fluid, when I returned, I checked under the vehicle for a leak, to no avail. I walked back to the spot I was parked but there was no indication of a leak. I was able to get my car home, and filled the break container intending on bleeding the lines; however, Florida weather forced to wait a day. Today, Saturday, I proceeded to bleed the lines but the reservoir was empty. Again, no signs of leakage around tires, break lines, reservoir, master cylinder. Everything I have searched regarding this indicates a large population of 2024-18 F150 with a master cylinder failure.

Vehicle Information: 2014 Ford F-150 VIN [XXX] Transmission: 6R80 Description of the problem: My 2014 Ford F-150 has a dangerous transmission issue. It suddenly downshifts from higher gears (like 4th or 5th) into 1st gear while driving, without warning. This creates a serious risk of loss of control or rear-end collision. Ford performed the recall for the 6R80 PCM reprogramming, but the issue persists. The problem was not resolved, and the vehicle still downshifts abruptly. My vehicle has over 200,000 miles, so the extended warranty for the lead frame (program 19N01) no longer applies, but this is a serious safety defect that continues after the recall. I’m requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue, as it seems the recall fix is not effective in all cases. Many other owners report similar symptoms even after the recall. Safety concern: I feel unsafe driving this vehicle. The transmission can cause a sudden deceleration in traffic, and I fear it may lead to an accident. After receiving a call from Mullinax Ford in Mobile, AL regarding a recall for our 2014 Ford F-150 Raptor (recall related to unexpected downshifting), I brought the vehicle to my workplace on [XXX], where a technician performed the software update (flash) on-site. Before the update, the vehicle was functioning without issue. That same evening while driving home, I experienced extremely hard downshifting, initially in lower gears, and worsening over time. The truck now violently downshifts, primarily into 4th gear, and sounds as if the transmission is slipping. I drove the truck again the next morning and the symptoms persisted. I contacted Zachary, the original representative at the dealership, who said it may be part of the “relearning” process. My husband drove it a week later after returning from a business trip and he confirmed the issue. It has progressively worsened to the point of being undrivable. We returned the truck to Mullinax Ford for evaluation on 7/29/25, and they claimed the failure was unrelated to the update and that the transmission needed to be replaced, at our expense. The truck unpredictably drops gears at high speeds, creating a sudden jerk that could lead to loss of control. This poses a serious safety risk to both the driver and others on the road. The dealership performed the recall software update and later diagnosed the truck with transmission failure, but is denying responsibility. No other third-party inspections have been done at this time. There were no warning lights or issues prior to the update. The issue started immediately after the recall software was flashed and worsened over the next 24–48 hours. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection. We believe the issue stems directly from the PCM/TCM update applied under recall conditions. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was driving about 75mph when my 2014 Ford F150 suddenly downshifted from 6th gear to 2nd. As a result of the unexpected downshift, my body was pushed into the steering wheel, and the rear end of the truck slid sideways as it slowed down to 65mph. The truck had a loss of power and I couldn’t accelerate. When I pulled over on the side of the highway, I used my code reader to read the codes that came up. The codes that came up pointed to Powertrain Control Module. When I looked at the PCM, it said P0720, Output Speed Sensor. I looked up the issue online and found that there is an open recall on the 2014 Ford F150 with the 6R80 transmission, and the recall is the issue I stated above. I went to two different Ford dealerships and they said that my vin isn’t listed under the recall so they won’t fix it. This is the manufacturers issue and they won’t fix it. The truck is unsafe to drive now.

Ford supposedly repaired my truck via recall 24S37 on June 6 2025. However, while driving at approx 65 mph 2 days later, my truck downshifted again to first gear. This went on for another 2 weeks until I took it back to Crossroads Ford in Henderson NC again and they notated that I have a code P1500 AND CODE p0722 WHICH IS A LEAD FRAME IN TRANSMISSION ISSUE but they did not repair it..AGAIN. It is currently at the same dealership and they called me from Dearborn MI to inform me that I am not covered. It is a 2014 with 308,000 miles. First occurrence with my F-150 STX driving home from work. Started my truck and got a block and a half away and the truck stopped accelerating and completely shut off. All the lights and engine was off. I drifted to the side of the road to avoid traffic causing a traffic pile up and confusion. Being overwhelmed I waited for about 20 minutes then started it and drove home. No lights or check engine lamps on. Having a couple days of normal driving and normal function. I drove again but this time I was going into the freeway halfway up the onramp the truck dies again! This time making it completely unsafe and potentially fatal. I drifted as far as I could to the side as I was going up hill onto the freeway. More cars and extremely different speeds made this moment very concerning . Upon delivery to the dealership and having them offer expensive fuel pump replacements and flushes. I could only afford the $600 fuel pump wake up and having no information about any defects or recalls. I feel like a guinea pig to ideas of half ass fixes.

My 2014 F150 XLT experienced recall S4S37. I brought the truck in for the recall after experience a sudden downshift into 1st gear while driving at 70mph. The PCM software update was installed during my first visit to my local Ford Dealership (Team Fod in Steubenville, OH). The issue occurred once more after the PCM update and team ford dismissed me after they could not replicate the issue. The sudden downshift happened twice more and I was again dismissed as team ford could not replicate the issue. After the downshift had occurred 4-6x, team ford reached out to Ford Support AT MY REQUEST to resolve the issue. They informed me I should consider replacing the lead frame. With the ongoing recall issues of the 2011-2013 F150s (which included a lead frame replacement as part of the recall), this should have been recommended at my first appointment. The sudden downshift continued over the course of 6-8months prior to team ford recommending I replace the lead frame which then led to my transmission blowing. 1. The lead frame should be included as part of recall S4S37. 2. My transmission should be covered by Ford as the ongoing sudden downshift while Team Ford failed to inform me of the correct fix inevitably resulted int he gradual deterioration of my transmission. For reference, my vehicle has 65,000miles. Ford KNOWS the lead frame was the fix for the 2011-2013 models and cheaped out on 2014 (and potentially other years) due to the quantity of vehicles that experienced this recall

Either the brake calipers or the soft brake lines feeding the calipers are sticking/collapsing internally causing the brakes to drag/lock up. This has drastically decreased the driveability of the vehicle as brakes dragging is dangerous. Based on internet searches and forums this appears to be a consistent problem with these pickups as this is the most common issue mentioned. Ford needs to address this problem with a recall before someone gets hurt.

This truck only has 35,000 miles on it , so it's a baby! All of a sudden I get a warning light that says there is a problem with my anti lock breaking system. In the 10 years I have had this truck I have never even had the anti lock breaking system engage! The Ford dealership where I bought the truck said I had a DTC C1288. The DTC C1288 on a Ford F150 indicates a brake pressure transducer circuit failure. Specifically, it means the ABS module has detected a problem with the transducer, possibly due to a short or open circuit, where the pressure reading is too high when other inputs suggest a non-pressurized system. This often results in the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) light remaining illuminated. They said if I didn't pay them $3400 parts and labor, my breaks would stop working. This is crazy. The ABS system has never engaged yet they say it's broken. This is very dangerous. Most people don't have $3400 to flush down the toilet like I did. I should not have to pay for this repair. Ford should. The part was defective from day 1. Please help me.

I have taken it to Sugarloaf Ford in Winona Minnesota and they recommend replace. But they do not have it as a recall. Major transmission failure that causes sudden unintended downshift to first gear, even at high speeds. This occurs often and randomly without warning, causing the engine to "redline", rear tires to slide and the vehicle to come to a near sudden stop. This is an extreme safety concern, especially in slippery road conditions as the vehicle could overturn or slide off the road or at a minimum be rear-ended for suddenly stopping unexpectedly on a freeway. This is a widely known problem by Ford. The local Ford service manager admitted that his 2013 F150 has the same issue and he continues to drive it because he tried fixing it by replacing the Molded Lead Plate in the transmission and that didn't resolve the problem. Remember, I noted this is a Ford Service Manager! Ford has issued a recall (24S37); however, the prescribed solution is to have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software updated and that prescribed fix actually makes the sudden downshifting happen more often. This is the cheapest, band-aid solution that Ford hides behind so they can say that they are addressing this issue. A second Ford dealership down the road actually admitted that they have identified that the recommended software update actually makes the problem worse and they practically refuses to perform the software update for their customers. After several discussions with Ford's Recall Assistance Team and several discussions with a local dealership's service manager, Ford is not willing to do anything more, despite this major safety issue not only not getting resolved, but actually has gotten worse due to their band-aid approach of a software update. In my case, if further diagnosis is to be performed, I have to be the one that covers that cost and also I would be the one to cover the cost of repairs. To me, this is completely unacceptable. The rational that Ford uses to deny accountability is that the vehicle's computer doesn't register any DTC codes when the incident occurs.

Despite the software update, the failure worsened upon return of the vehicle. The contact then reached out to another dealer that stated that the software update was no longer performed due to the update worsening the failure. The dealer refused to service the vehicle and directed the contact back to the original dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and acknowledged that the failure was a known issue. The manufacturer also informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train) and a case was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.

After recall 24S37 was performed on my Ford F-150 to address potential sudden downshifting to first gear, my truck began experiencing serious transmission issues that had never occurred prior. The recall required PCM reprogramming, and immediately afterward, the vehicle started hard shifting and unexpectedly downshifting at highway speeds (one example 5th to 3rd gear and also while passing or decelerating). This was alarming and unsafe. Before this recall, the transmission operated perfectly with no symptoms, warning lights, or signs of malfunction. I returned the truck to the Ford dealership that performed the recall. Their road test confirmed the issue, and they diagnosed it as damage to the overdrive clutch. However, they stated the damage was “likely present before” the recall work—despite no prior symptoms—and recommended full transmission replacement at a cost of nearly $10,000, which I declined. The issue clearly began immediately after Ford’s recall remedy and fits the exact risk the recall was supposed to prevent. The vehicle is available for inspection. I believe the recall work either caused or triggered the failure and that Ford should be held accountable.

Truck randomly downshifts/ jerks really hard while driving all speeds. On 4/19 I was driving 65mph and truck felt like slamming brakes on, while speedometer pin bounces around, then a wrench showed up on the dash screen, I pulled over turned truck off sat for a few minutes, turned it back on, everything seemed finer and continued driving home, with no more issues. On 4/27 I was coming home from groccery store going about 30-35mph truck dropped down to first gear and then back to 4th gear. My pregnant wife and daughter were in the car when this happened. I've called local Ford dealership, and they ask me to come in for diagnosis, but I know this is a factory recall issue via 24V-444. I'm not sure if the truck is safe to drive, this randomly happens, but seems to be happening more and more frequently past 2 months or so

On [XXX], about 20 minutes into my 30-minute commute, while driving at highway speed, my trucks transmission suddenly downshifted dramatically, jerking and throwing me forward in my seat and causing the truck to slow down so abruptly that I was almost rear ended, putting drivers around and behind me at risk of high-speed collisions. Less than 5 minutes later it happened a second time. This is the exact same abrupt transmission downshift issue that happened to me in this vehicle a few times before in early 2024. I received a Safety Recall notice on this known issue about a week after the first incident in 2024. I took my vehicle into the AutoNation Ford Dealer in Littleton, Colorado immediately after I received that notice and they supposedly 'fixed' the issue under the recall 24S37. Obviously, the issue has not been resolved. I am asking for a deeper look into the safety issue as I am sure I am not the only one this is happening to. I am also concerned that there were no warning lamps or messages that would indicate a problem that needed to be addressed! The truck is currently back at the AutoNation Ford Dealer in Littleton and is available for inspection. They are telling me there is no current recall for this issue. How can that be true if it’s the exact same problem and their Safety Recall ‘repair’ didn’t work? I believe the repair was just a software patch, but I can’t be sure. Can you please help me find out what the recall (24S37) was supposed to fix and why it didn’t fix the problem? Their suggestion now is to replace the Valve Body with a cost of $2,554.63 (in addition to a $219.95 diagnostic fee). My concern is that even this expensive repair might not actually solve the problem, and I am truly afraid to drive this vehicle. The fuse block in question is the main fuse block located toward the front of the engine bay near the radiator. This resulted in a no start condition while parked in a parking lot. If this had happened while driving, I fear my truck could have resulted in an electrical fire with my family inside. Just seen about recall of f150 shifting problem. On a recent trip my 2014 f150 did exactly that. While making an right turn onto a street as it shifted it jerked pretty bad, scared the heck out of me. as I drove it would not shift out of 3rd gear. I had to drive several miles before I could pull over, My display showed a wrench on the screen. I turned off the engine and let it cool down, started it again. The wrench icon did not come on. It seemed to drive normal after that. I'm not sure this problem is with this year as well. I have not had it looked at by any shop.

Ford Motor Company issued a recall for my truck (the transmission could suddenly shift into neutral), stating that they needed to update the PCM, and my local dealership service center said they could send an employee out to fix it remotely. I had not experienced the shifting into neutral prior to the "fix". Less than a week later, as I was driving around 35mph, the speedometer dropped to 0 and the transmission stuck in 3rd gear. I waited until the next stop sign and turned off the engine and started it again and it went back to normal. The next day the same issue occurred. The speedometer would drop to 0 and the transmission would stick in whichever gear it was last in. This time is was 5th gear on a highway. I had to pull over and restart it 3 times before it resumed normal driving. I went back to the dealership and they said the electronic update wouldn't have caused the OSS to malfunction and that it was a coincidence that the exact issue I was having was the same as the cause and reason for the recall. I went to an independent Transmission mechanic to have the OSS replaced and it has now been over a month and the problem has not returned. I don't know if the cause of the OSS malfunctioning was a coincidence or if it was related to a faulty electronic update (like if the Ford mechanic didn't disconnect the battery or overloaded an electric charge when he updated the PCM). The warning sign of a wrench did appear each time the OSS would drop to 0. The check engine light went on the first time but not after that.

I received a recall (Safety recall notice 24S37 . NHTSA Recall 24v444 ) notice in the mail. I scheduled with the dealership to have the recall taken care of. When the recall issue was "fixed", I picked up my 2014 Ford f150 stx 3.7L truck and immediately noticed it was running vwry rough and the transmission felt like it was slipping. The truck ran great before going in for the recall issue and had even been fully serviced and tuned up two weeks prior. I called the Ford dealership and explained to them. The truck then would not start but it did continue to crank over. I plugged my computer to it and no codes. I called the dealership back and was told to have it towed (at my expense) back to the dealership so they could fix it and if the issue was under due to the recall service, which it was, I would be reimbursed the money for the tow and the money they charged for a diagnostics. They also found nothing wrong and couldn't start the truck. They recommended I allow them to perform work to it claiming the spark plugs showed that the engine was flooded but could tell they were new and correctly gapped. After another $700 (for 6 spark plugs to be replaced) it did not fix the issue and they're not sure what to do. I've called the dealership, spoke with the service manager Bill and the GM Bob. They claim there is nothing they can do. I have called Ford Motor customer service twice with no help to fixing the problem. I too my perfectly running truck in for a safety recall and received a broken truck Back. After over $1,200 out of pocket, I still have no truck and no answers and am stuck at the mercy of the dealership.

I received a recall notice on my F150 and took it to the dealership for repair even though I have not had any check engine lights or codes on my vehicle. 20 days After taking my vehicle to the ford dealership for the 24S37 recall on the OSS while driving on a two lane back road my truck experienced a hard downshift immediately followed by a check engine light. I lost all acceleration and had to coast to a safe place to pull over. I connected a code reader to the vehicle and immediately got a P0721 code for output speed sensor. I had the truck towed to the dealership and was told they drove it and could not get it to repeat the issue. The dealership only drove 2.9 miles while the had the vehicle for 5 days. I picked up the truck and drove 122 miles before the truck repeated the same issue only this time I was on the highway and luckily was able to exit the highway safely. I connected a code reader to the truck again and received a code for P0720 for the output speed sensor. The software update for this recall that FORD has pushed out as a repair has done nothing but cause even more substantial problems and safety concerns. I have reached out to Ford (at a manufacturer level) and have received absolutely no assistance from them.

The vehicle had a complete loss of control of the power steering. Thankfully, it happened in the driveway and not on the highway. The message said Power Steering Assist Fault. We took our truck to the local Ford dealership in regards to recall 24S37. There were no issues with the truck before we took it in. They say it was repaired on 1/7. A couple of weeks later the truck gets stuck in 1st gear and the now and at the same time the speedometer shuts down. We have read that if the program update doesn't fix it then they need to replace the leadframe but now they are saying that will be $2000 for them to fix the issue.

I have pictures of 5th gear going slow, the wrench appearing and engine toruble light on. See attached pictures.

Turned on rear window and heated mirror defrost. Rear window cracked loudly and broke in a spiderwebbed manner after about 10-15 minutes of the defrost being turned on. Tempered glass kept it from blowing completely out. May have caused injury if a passenger had been sitting in rear crew cab seat at the time. Spoke with Safelite auto glass repair, was told they see this frequently with F150 trucks and think there is a problem with defrost function not shutting off like it should, causing excessive heat to window which eventually breaks the glass.

When I took the vehicle to a Ford Dealership for servicing, I was told that the front passenger side seat belt pretensioner/retractor was shortened internally. I was told that unless the part was replaced, the Air Bags would not deploy upon impact. If I chose not to repair the part, I was told that the vehicle would pass our state's inspection. Received safety recall notice 24S37/ NHTSA recall 24V444 for my 2014 F150. Recall appears to address a safety issue resulting in the pickup downshifting into 1st gear while driving. My pickup was doing this back in 2022. It sat at the dealer for 3 months because it was too dangerous to drive (or sell) and needed a new Lead Frame to correct the problem, but Ford was unable to supply this part. I ultimately had to take it to a transmission shop, where they installed an after market lead frame that fixed the problem at that time (for around $1200). At that time there was a recall for 2015 models and up, but not 2014 models. Recently my pickup began going into safe or limp mode while I was driving, with a big wrench icon appearing on the dash. My mechanic said the engine code indicated the transmission was not communicating with the engine, and that it appeared to be related to this recent recall. Dealership updated the PCM, but this did not fix the problem. Ultimately, had to get a new Lead Frame installed ($1400). Error codes P0721 and P0722 were found, which would seem to apply to the recall. Supposedly the dealership was told that the truck was too old (2014) and and the mileage was too high (102,000) to cover the repair (although, this is a fairly recent recall). Ford customer service told me that the recall only covered the update, not any repairs to fix the underlying problem. Ford will not reimburse me for any of these repairs, but they appear to be related to exactly what the recall was for. Curious what the NHTSA's opinion is. I believe that I put in a complaint with NHTSA for this issue when it first happened. Thanks for your time.

On 1-15-2025, I filed a follow-up complaint number 11636086 regarding the random downshifting of my F150 from the 4th or 5th gear down to 2nd gear while accelerating to get on a roadway or highway. This defect was supposedly fixed at a Ford dealer per recall in July of 2024. As of this writing, my 2014 F150 is continuing to randomly downshift, and I have heard nothing from the NHTSA regarding this safety issue that the recall failed to correct. Ford tells me that the software update should have fixed the issue. Obviously, it did not. What recourse do I have? Please reply to the email address listed on both my original complaint and the second complaint listed above. Thank you.

Took vehicle to dealer for safety recall in reference to the transmission issue of downshifting to a lower gear while driving at highway speeds. Dealer did a software reprogram and indicated that would revolve the issue. Within six months I had encountered the same issue. I notified Ford corporate and they instructed me to take it in to diagnose the issue, to which I did. They notified me that the lead frame was defective and would need to be replaced. they indicated that I would be charged close to $1700.00 for the service. contacted Ford Corporate and they claimed that it was not part of the recall. My problem with this that the software reprograms did not resolve the recall issue. It is known that the lead frame had manufacturing faults.

My radiator cracked and was replaced by Firestone in Nashville, TN. Firestone Address 7644 Hwy 70 S Nashville, TN 37221 Immediately after a loud screeching sound began. Which intermittently turns into a metal on metal and chirping sound with mild vibration. Subsequently I left the vehicle with Firestone for 1 additional week after the repairs were completed, including a 5 point inspection which did not illustrate any additional problems or recommended repairs. They said they were unable to diagnose the issue without the store managers opinion who seemed to be on an indefinite leave of absence and no specific estimated time frame. Several months later I went back into the same location to talk about my concerns with a manger On 1/16/2025. The manager personally setup an appointment for 1/18/2025. 15 minutes before they closed for the day I called. They said they didn't have time to it and that they will not be able to tomorrow either. I cannot comprehend how a licensed shop can operate this way. They're not prioritizing revisiting their previous repairs which have caused an extreme burden on my ability to care for multiple kids with severe disabilities. had a recall on my truck to replace master brake master cylinder on October 2014, my truck lost braking power on [XXX] before I was able to leave my community almost resulted in me driving to a pond with toddler in the backseat. I was eventually able to bring truck to a full stop using extreme force to push brake to the floor. Upon discussion with Ford service representative, it is highly likely due to premature brake booster failure as a result of recalled brake cylinder. Upon further research on Kelly's Blue Book, it states that the brake booster should be replaced "as necessary" as a part of the master cylinder recall but was not in my case. this failure could have resulted in catastrophic failure ending 2 lives and Ford refuses to warrant the repair. My 2014 F150 was recalled for a software patch pertaining to the lead frame in the transmission because the vehicle would abruptly downshift at any speed. After having the recall performed by a dealership, it continued to have the same issue. I was told by the Service Manager the lead frame was bad but the recall did not cover the repair. For my safety I had the repair done and it cost me $1869.64. I contacted NHTSA and was told the dealership would have to contact Ford Motor Company for a warranty code to cover the cost of the repair. Ford Motor Company said the dealership should pay for the repair up front then get reimbursed by Ford Motor Company. The dealership said only NGTSA can include the lead frame in the recall so I was responsible for the cost of the repair. As of this date (1/7/2025), I'm still out $1859.64. I have the lead frame that was removed from the truck and there are no obvious defects (cracks, buildups, etc) so the issue has to be with the control mechanism within the lead frame that the software patch should have corrected. Why has the recall not been upgraded to include replacing the lead frame?
