ID: 2127226FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
July 17th on highway going near highway speed of 65-70mph in congested heavier traffic, person merging from on ramp caused abrupt slow to stop and rear ended a F250 truck causing MAJOR front end damage, couldn’t get front doors open, frame bent, vehicle totalled with $22k or more in damages. Seatbelt locked and air bags NEVER deployed. Ford dealership and insurance company very very suprised that given impact, speed, etc airbags never went off. Also emergency braking system did give collision detection warning and then seemed to entirely take over braking as I attempted to brake very hard nothing seemed to be happening for brakes. Seemed crash could have been entirely avoided. Vehicle totalled and gone to salvage yard. Thank goodness no injury very badly bruised

I purchased my 2019 Ford Expedition Max Limited on [XXX]. When we purchase the vehicle we signed a notice that we would have the recalls completed within a reasonable time. I took my vehicle for the recall to Feyer Ford in Edenton, North Carolina on May 30th. Prior to the recall I was having no issues at all with the vehicle. Once I pick the vehicle up on [XXX] and started my traveling home. Within 10 minutes of leaving, the vehicle made a loud screeching noise. The wrench light came on, and the vehicle seemed to not accelerate forward. I was able to pull off the road and turn the vehicle off. I called Feyer Ford to make them aware of the problem and they told me that it was because the PCM had been reprogrammed and would need to relearn how I drive. I had the same issue happen again further down the road, this is a very serious safety hazard that my vehicle suddenly stopped moving forward in traffic. I called Feyer Ford once again and was told that I had to drive the vehicle 1,000 miles before the PCM would relearn my driving patterns. I took the vehicle in on June 4th to have it checked out and was told that I would need a valve body replacement and torque converter replacement. That essentially my transmission was bad. Since that date the vehicle has gone into reverse numerous times when I put it in Drive, it will also get stuck in 4th 7th or 10th gear when you are trying to drive it in a parking lot or going slow on the road. When it gets stuck in those gears the vehicle will not go forward it will only allow you to go backwards. My car has been at Feyer Ford since July 29 trying to have the warranty cover the fix, but it was denied for warranty coverage because they stated the vehicle was broken by the recall. We were told we could pick up our un-fixed vehicle on Aug 27. We got the key and proceeded to leave only to find the car not put back together from a different seat belt recall. It is still at Feyer Ford today, September 6th 2025. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA),

Yesterday, while I was driving to pick up my kids from school, my 2019 Ford Expedition, the driver’s side seatbelt literally exploded — it went off like it would in a crash (but there was no crash). I was driving when it exploded and tightened so tight on me. Now the seatbelt doesn’t work at all. It was terrifying, so loud and painful. This is part of a known recall issue. When the dealership had my car back in May to replace my cam phasers, they told me the seatbelt recall parts weren’t available yet. Fast forward to now — the seatbelt has gone off, the vehicle can’t be driven safely, and Ford (both the local dealership and customer service) is saying there’s nothing they can do for me right now. The dealership told me I would have to pay to have it towed and pay for a rental. Also, they aren’t sure how fast they can get parts or diagnose it. I’m honestly at a loss. This is a safety recall, and I can’t use my car because of it. I literally just paid $2400 in may for my cam phasers and now this.

The transmission is clunking and hard shifting causing the car to not just go when you accelerate. The car stutters and takes a minute to actually go when you press the accelerator. This has caused multiple times where pulling out of a parking lot has been dangerous since I can’t properly get up and go when need be. I had a mechanic look at my car and he confirmed my transmission needs to be replaced. There was no warning signs or messages about the failure.

The 10 Speed Transmission, also known as 10R80, is absolutely horrible and should be banned. I have had Ford rebuild the transmission more than once and also fully replaced with multiple shop visit with other trans issues. Constant jerking, poor shifting, delayed gear recognition, slipping gears while going highway speeds, are all causes for great concern. I am worried all the time that I may get in an accident with one of the skipping that occurs several times monthly. This Trans must be fully recalled due to its safety! This is a major safety issue. Who wants to pay $90,000.00 on a car to have constant transmission issues and jerky driving? This jerking has been worsening again lately and worried I need another trans repair. This happened again today which brings me to this complaint as Ford wont fiix the issue, needing a new style trans altogether!

Issues with the transmission (10R80) started in May 2025 around 79,000 miles, and lasted a few weeks before we could get to the Ford dealer. We have not towed anything or taken the vehicle off roading. We experienced very hard shifting, delayed acceleration, lurching, and loss of power. We were unable to drive the vehicle without one or more of these things consistently happening. One lurch was particularly violent where our momentum carried us forward while the vehicle slowed dramatically. The loss of power was particularly dangerous because I pulled into traffic and then shifting failed and I couldn’t move. I was stuck in the middle of the road until the gears cycled and eventually started working again. The loss of power also happened to my wife. The transmission issues appeared quickly and then rapidly became worse. We took it to Ford and they said the transmission needed replaced. This would allegedly be better than trying to fix it piece by piece. Apparently Ford could potentially help with costs if I submitted a case, but they would want to try to diagnose and fix it first. This meant being without the vehicle for an extended period and then having to return it to the shop if the part fixed didn’t solve the issue. This is unreasonable given that others online reported similar issues and the “fixes” often did not work. We did not have any dashboard lights illuminate as part of our issues. We had the transmission replaced.

On [XXX], the seatbelt pretensioner on my 2019 Ford Expedition MAX Platinum suddenly discharged without warning while the vehicle was stationary. It emitted a loud noise, caused the seatbelt to lock, and released a strong burning smell, consistent with prior reports linked to recall 24V099 / 25V197000. I purchased this vehicle used on [XXX] from Taverna Infiniti of North Miami (FL). At the time of sale, the dealership: •Did not disclose any active recalls •Provided an inspection form stating the seatbelt and warning systems were “OK” •Sold the vehicle with an illuminated airbag (SRS) warning light •Delivered the vehicle with a non-functional driver-side tail light Four days later ([XXX]), the dealer sent me a Carfax report showing the vehicle had an active NHTSA safety recall (24V099), issued in February 2024, with a known remedy available. The dealership knowingly sold a vehicle with an unrepaired safety defect, and the defect has now resulted in an actual pretensioner discharge — which could pose a fire risk and compromised occupant protection. I am currently working to have the vehicle serviced at a Ford-authorized dealer. I am reporting this event to document: •The failure of the seatbelt pretensioner •The dealer’s noncompliance with safety disclosure obligations •The risk posed to other consumers INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

At 60k miles the car started making noises when I start it. I took it in and they said it was the timing chain. Also my engine light keeps coming on and it says Emissions Error. Catalytic converter signaled efficiency is low after the Emissions Recall 24 E 13 had been fixed 2025. There are 5 other expeditions in the dealership with the exact same problem. Had recall fixed one month later check engine light came on. Same problem emissions signal. Ford won’t fix it as they claim “it would have been caught during inspections of the vehicle when they run codes during any kind of service.” Even though it would not have been because the recall just came out May 2025 for it to correctly issue said signal.

While attempting to accelerate and change lanes on the freeway, the vehicle unexpectedly slipped out of gear and appeared to shift into neutral. During this time, the gas pedal became completely unresponsive, leaving me unable to control the vehicle’s speed. Multiple warning lights and audible alerts activated briefly before disappearing. I released the gas pedal and attempted to accelerate again, at which point the vehicle re-engaged and resumed normal function. This issue first occurred approximately one month ago and has now happened two additional times. Each incident lasted several seconds during active freeway driving, creating a highly dangerous situation where I had no control over acceleration. This poses a serious safety risk, especially when merging or maneuvering in high-speed traffic. Although no accident has occurred yet, the potential for one is significant and deeply concerning.

Transmission failure, skipping, and stalling. It can be inspected. My family and Is safety was put at risk when the transmission started stalling out while leaving the exit ramp to turn onto a busy road with constant traffic. As soon as the acceleration pedal was pressed after leaving the stop sign stalling occurred and again at the following stop light upon acceleration. Yes the problem has been confirmed by a dealership. It has not been inspected by the police, insurance, or others. No warning before hand other than it would skip certain gears and jerk really hard.

During a recent visit on 6/6/2025 to the Ford dealership in Torrance for an oil change, I've informed the service staff of my concern for the diminishing coolant levels. Upon completion of the oil change, they've informed they did not find any issues with the coolant and did not find any signs of leaking. Today is June 30, 2025 and I've come to a local mechanic for a different concern of vehicle shaking and they found that the coolant was indeed leaking.

I noticed that the car would make a clunking noise changing Drive to Reverse (vice versa) and had informed the dealership upon getting car checked up for cold start rattle issues that sounded like stemming from cam phaser. Dealer didn't comment on it. Over time, I felt it getting worse. Now at about 51,400 on my drive home on the freeway close to my exit, luckily, I felt the car vibrantly shaking (during drive and slow down). After exiting the freeway, I noticed car (and steering wheel) shaking vibrantly when going 25 mph and over. After taking it to a local mechanic, they found that the driveshaft was about to come off missing a part.

I took it to the tire shop to see if it was a tire issue or a balance issue, but the shop informed it wasn't a tire issue but possibly a CV related. Because I'm feeling the vibrations more from one side of vehicle, thinking it could be related to the toe link. Seeing car parked on driveway, it does seem to be leaning more to the right in the rear of the vehicle

We purchased the 2019 Ford Expedition Limited from Interstate Ford in Miamisburg, OH, for $49,500 in 2023. The vehicle had roughly 47k miles on it at the time; it now has 69k. I started noticing that it was downshifting when I pulled out of my driveway and got about a block away from home shortly after our purchase. I reported this to the dealership several times, and they said they could not get it to replicate the problem. I explained that it was only happening when the engine was cold. Fast forward to June 2025, I was at the intersection one morning, and the vehicle would not move forward. Then it lurched forward suddenly, from that point, I started having more issues with 1st & 2nd gears. I took it to Germain Ford in Beavercreek, and they evaluated the issue and determined that I need a new transmission. This was submitted to Ford, and the replacement was approved, but it appears my extended warranty will have to cover the charges. I have noticed that several other people have reported the same issues with their 2019 models. Ford should cover this repair at no cost to us; that's just my opinion.

Transmission 10R80 2017-2023 is prone to jerking, sudden power loss, complete failure, hard shifts and random downshifts. Ford knows that this issue exists but fails to issue a recall. The main issue is with the CDF drum. Ford came out with a new CDF Drum in 2023 to remedy the issue. But fails to cover any costs to fix it. To get to the CDF drum a complete transmission tear down is required. Ford is involved in multiple class action lawsuits and has even issued a TSB (22-2428) but again, fails to cover any costs.

While driving the 2019 Ford Expedition the transmission intermittently has an issue where there is harsh or extreme delayed engagement and loss of power. This has occurred while attempting to merge on the highway in traffic and put myself and highway drivers at risk when it suddenly was not possible to accelerate to merge safely. The component was inspected by the Ford dealer and their response was to re-program the transmission software, however this has not resolved the issue and it still occurs. There were no warning lamps or indicator to show that the vehicle has a problem.

Traveling at approximately 65 MPH and the transmission slipped into neutral and we began to lose speed while the engine freely revved, then it slammed back into gear violently. Then about an hour later on the same trip it did it again, except this time when it slammed into gear the rear tires lock up and we were nearly rear ended, luckily they swerved over in time. The wheels then unlocked and the vehicle drove mostly normal after that. The shifts were of poor quality from time to time, and we are out of state with no choice but to continue for the week. It seemed to happen when trying to increase speed, so now I am very gingerly speeding up when needed. We will get it in for service as soon as we get home next week.

While driving the vehicle will all of a sudden will come out of gear, he can hear grinding, when the rpms eventually slow down will go into neutral and can then be put back into gear. This happens in normal driving conditions, it happens while at cruising highway speeds bit more often happens while stepping into the gas to pass someone. You lose all power and is extremely dangerous! This has been happening since at least 2022 with vehicle since around 55k miles and continues now at 105k. During city driving it usually is just a harder shift which always seems to be around 4th,5th 6th gear which is same on hwy when it downshifts to around the same to pass someone. For ford to issue a tsb and not be recalled yet is unfathomable with how dangerous this can potentially be! Pictures attached is from around time we first started to experience the issue with 56k 04/10/2022 and 59k 06/06/2022 on vehicle. Other two are from me having them look at it for said issue with no resolution! Last is most recent with them recommending me to get transmission flushed.will be returning to shop on 5/23/2025 for same issue. There are numerous times in between these that this issue has happened as well but with wife driving and this happing definitely angered me and scared her to not want to drive it anymore with most recent event on Friday 5/9/2025!

Most of the hard downshifts happen at highway speeds, but also occur at other times. I've taken it in at least 6 times for this issue with no remedy before the transmission failed at 102000 miles. That cost me $7100 to repair the transmission and $1000 in rental car costs. I have 113000 miles now and the same issues are occurring.

When driving the vehicle shifts very hard and has a loud clanging in second and fifth gear. It skips those gears and will lag in intersections and on roadways because of the skip. Had it diagnosed by a transmission shop and they said it needed cam phasers. Took it to the dealer and the said it needed a new valve body as the issue was repeatable. Had the valve body replaced and it is still doing it and even worse. No lights came on, and we bought the vehicle used with 81k miles on it and we noticed it right away, so the dealer did a “reprogram” of the software and said it was fine. It started to do it again right away and we called the dealer and they would not return our call. We drove it because we had too until it got bad enough we didn’t feel safe driving it anymore and now it is waiting for the hopes that a new transmission will fix the issue.

My 2019 Ford expedition started making a rattling noise when starting the engine, the noise continued to get louder and the engine beagn to make a knocking noise when idling, and trouble starting when cold. I was ouyt of warrenty by a few thousand miles when I had to bring it to be repaired and I was told the cam phasers were faulty and it was a known issue even though Ford not issuing a recall. In my vehicle there was a spring missing and parts loose that dislodged into the engine that could cause it to get caught distroying the entire motor while driving which could seriously injure not just the driver but loose control of car and cause major accident. Doing research this seems to been a common issue in the Ford expedition 2018-2020. There should be a recall for faulty part not just if your still covered under warrenty, it is a serious malfuntion that can really cause bad accident that is not a service or operator error that causes a malfunctioning/breaking of cam phasers.

SIX WEEKS AGO MY TRANSMITION START JUMPING WHEN IT SHIFTED GEARS. THE EXPEDITION ONLY HAS 82, 212 MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE RAN A DIAGNOSTICS TEST AND GOT A CODE P2701, WHICH IS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. HE SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR REBUILT. I TOOK IT TO A SECOND MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING. HE SUGGESTED REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER FIRST TO SEE IF THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM. HAD HIM DO A FULL TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER REPLACEMENT. THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IT HAS GOTTEN WORST AND NOW JUMPS AND HESITATES WHEN SHIFTING GEARS ALL THE TIME, WHICH IS DANGEROUS. CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DELIVER AND THEY SAID THERE WERE NOT ANY RECALLS AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO UNDER ANY WARRENTIES. THEY ALSO STATED THEY WERE AWARE THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION BUT THERE WAS NOTHING COULD DO WITHOUT A RECALL FROM FORD. THEY SAID THEY COULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSIN FOR AROUND $8000-$9000 DOLLARS. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND A NUMBER OF VECHICLES WITH THIS TRANSMSSION HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION JUMPING AND HESITATING. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND COULD CAUSE A DIFFINITE SAFETY PROBLEM AND EVEN CAUSE A WRECK AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH WITH THIS PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL FOR ALL THESE TRANSMITIONS.

1. My Transmission failed and the car came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway, ford could not assist in replacing the Transmission and I have heard so many complaints about the 10 speed transmissions failing just after reaching 100,000 mileage. Mine failed under 108,000 mileage and this has been going on for years and consumers end up spending thousands of dollars on a $70,000 vehicle. This issue needs to be addressed. I paid over $8,000 to replace the transmission. 2. Ford Expeditions and F150 have a trim piece on the center console that's covered by an aluminum wrap which pops off and it's very sharp, so many ford owners have been cut by that piece and ford only replaces the whole center console if the vehicle is under warranty as there's no other solution to replace only the trim but you get to replace the whole center console which's Expensive. 3. For 3.5L engines have continued to have cam phaser failure for the past few years but Ford doesn't seem to address this issue which cost customers millions of dollars every year, we the customers do know that Ford benefits from selling parts and Ford 100% knows how expensive it's to replace a cam phaser which cam cost anywhere from $4,000 in parts and labor. We hope that NHTSA can step up and have ford address these issues.

When driving on a highway we went to pass a slower moving vehicle. When pulling out into the oncoming lane to accelerate the automatic transmission slipped into neutral. This situation became dangerous because there was a vehicle coming at us and we had to break to get back behind the slower vehicle. However the transmission did go back into gear causing us to become a hazard to the vehicles behind us. Again this happened on the interstate when accelerating to get on the interstate. This is a known problem by Ford and has been documented many times. Ford claims that since the vehicle is past the warranty period they aren't responsible to repair.
