Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Bronco, F-150, 2021-2024 Edge, 2022-2025 Escape, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600, 2022-2024 Expedition, 2022-2025 Transit, 2021-2023 Mach-E, 2024 Ranger, Mustang, 2021-2023 Lincoln Nautilus, 2022-2024 Navigator, and 2023-2024 Corsair vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse.

Risk: A frozen or missing rearview camera image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the hatch of the vehicle was designed to close automatically while the user owned the key fob, with the user's foot underneath the hatch. The contact stated that the hatch had been closing prematurely while the key fob was not near the hatch, and the hatch had hit both the contact and family members on the head. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and had sent engineers to diagnose the vehicle, but the engineers could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a backfire coming from the engine. The contact stated that the engine overheated and seized. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that failure had occurred within 30 seconds. The vehicle was restarted; however, the engine seized within 30 seconds. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle was restarted, and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The failure was not duplicated. The contact requested that the dealer keep the vehicle to continue diagnostic testing. The contact stated that previously the vehicle was taken to the dealer because of an abnormal fuel odor. The vehicle was diagnosed with purge valve failure. The purge valve was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, several warning lights illuminated, and the contact heard a ticking sound coming from the vehicle. In addition, the contact noticed a burning odor before the engine seized. The vehicle failed to restart as intended. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with serpentine belt and pulley failures. The serpentine belt and the pulley were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact was informed that the serpentine belt had been shredded to pieces. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. In addition, the contact requested a buy-back. The failure mileage was 19,037.
