The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.

Risk: A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Risk: A brake fluid leak can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:GEAR POSITION INDICATION (PRNDL)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Risk: A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, 2015-2016 Ford Edge, and 2016 Lincoln MKX vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.

Risk: If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist, requiring a greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, and increasing the risk of a crash.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 9, 2015, to August 12, 2016. During dealer servicing, the affected vehicles may be have been updated with incorrect Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software. This software can cause the ESC system to lose engine torque control, and not provide any warning lamps to warn the driver if there was an ABS or ESC system malfunction. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems" and number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk: If the operator is not warned of an ABS or ESC malfunction and the ESC loses engine torque control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH and attempting to depress the brake pedal, the brake pedal was mushy. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the brake hose was faulty and needed to be replaced, along with the rear brake rotors and brake pads. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

The contact's mother owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact performed a minor service on the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was idling roughly, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact replaced the spark plugs and the valve cover gasket; however, the vehicle was still idling roughly with a misfire coming from cylinder #3. The contact checked the spark plug in cylinder #3 and became aware that engine oil had fouled the plug. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming engine oil, and 1 quart of oil was added after an oil change. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the pistons and piston rings had damaged the cylinders, and recommended that the engine be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

The vehicle was previously diagnosed with a cracked flex plate, and the flex plate was replaced twice; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormal knocking sound and lost motive power upon depression of the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. ENGINE

Had a misfire when starting the vehicle so took it to a mechanic. There is a coolant leak in the engine block which appears to be a major problem with this year and make. Can cause engine failure and other problems.

POWER TRAIN

ENGINE

Recently my Check Engine Light came on and I had the vehicle diagnosed with a local repair shop. The code P0301:00-EC was pulled from the vehicles scan. Upon further research this code is linked to TSA 19-2208 issued 06/27/2019. Ford knew that the engine design was flawed and only issued a TSA bulletin. This issue could cause catastrophic engine failure and fire. This issue is not a maintenance issue but a serious flaw from the manufacturer. There is also a class action lawsuit, Miller, et al. vs. Ford Motor Company - Case No: [XXX] filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. I am hoping that you will take interest in this, as there are probably many 2nd or 3rd owners of these vehicles that are unaware of the severity of the engine flaw. My vehicle has been at the Robinson Ford in Baton Rouge LA since 06/17/2025, and the cost of the new engine is 9600.00. I'm thankful that driving the vehicle from NC to LA no incidents occurred and I was able to have the issue diagnosed before there was. SERVICE BRAKES

Brake pedal sank to the floor while driving. Pressure resumed temporarily. Brake fluid continued to leak aftrr being parked. This is third incident of this occurance.

SEAT BELTS

From my personal experience and other edge owner on forum complaints. The rear seat belt that inflatable have a problem to retract and get stuck. The seat belt is back ordered. I place an order to get mine replace almost a year and still waiting. There is a defect in the seat belt as lot of people complain of the same issue with the edge. As a result the car cannot pass state inspection since the rear passenger seat belt do not pull out. This is a manufactured defect as several people have experienced this problem with their edge

The rearview camera has malfunctioned many times. The camera image will delay, freeze or not display when the vehicle is in reverse. This same issue has been reported on newer Ford products and they are under recall.

My ford edge has a 2.0 ecoboost engine 2015 model year they are known for having head gasket problems It just occurred to me at 115 thousand miles ford knew for the problem early on and kept building the same engine all the way up until 2019 model year There should be a head gasket replacement recall at least, so many people with so many head gasket problems the internet is full of reports

Brake line has ruptured causing brakes to fail while driving for the second time in 2 years. I was almost killed in both of these incidents as it happened suddenly while on the road. The first one was fixed under a recall but it has happened again with no support from ford. this is dangerous and should be looked into.

*The weatherstripping on the Ford edge has been an ongoing issue since new and there should be a formal recall. The noise from the freeway is extensive and the weatherstripping needs constant attention. *If you search ford edge weather stripping issues, there's a gazillion forums with people with the same issues. This needs to be a formal recall so that I don't have to keep replacing or adjusting my weather stripping or having it hang loose driving down the freeways.

POWER TRAIN

My car was in parked position on the shift. I exited the vehicle to put my dog in the house. Upon exiting the vehicle the car began to roll down a hill/mountainside with my children still in the vehicle. The car hit a large tree stopping it from rolling all the way down the hill. The open recall on this car was not disclosed upon purchased from used dealer in 2024.

SERVICE BRAKES

Brake hose failure causing loss of braking ability. Confirmed by independent service center that brake hose ruptured and required repaired. No warning lamps or messages. Braking required holding pedal all the way to the floor. Occurred today, 04/02/2025.

ENGINE

My Vehicles Engine had a Cylinder #2 Misfire that was a result of Coolant Intrusion. This issue seems to be a known issue and Ford did correct for post 2019 vehicles, but I had to pay over $8,000 in repairs to get a new motor because that Coolant Intrusion issue ruins motors. I don't understand why I am responsible for this egregious problem Ford never corrected for 2015-2019 Ford Edge Owners. In no way should a person be responsible for over $8,000.00 in repairs on a vehicle that failed from a Manufacturing defect/error/issue. This expense is now a financial burden on not only myself but my family. I had to take a personal loan out to cover the cost. Certainly unfair. I have owned this car since it was brand new. only owner and it's been wonderful until this issue has appeared. i'm begging the NHTSA to force Ford to reimburse owners of these repairs. I did not do anything by driving my vehicle to cause this issue when there is a identified flaw. Thank you

On 12/31/24 my rear windshield exploded. I had it replaced and on 2/28/25 the rear window has exploded AGAIN!

Kept up regular maintenance on car. The vehicle began to lose power while driving and took in to shop, was told the cylinders were misfiring. Had replaced twice and was told there were leaks. Engine failure.

vista roof has spontaneously cracked in 2 different areas. i did have my insurance company look at it. they did cover it sorta. but it has cracked again.

The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that there was coolant leaking into cylinder #1 causing the engine to fail. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The water pump, reservoir, and ignition coils had been replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact learned of a class action lawsuit for the 2.0 EcoBoost engine failing at approximately 100,000 miles. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer had referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. AIR BAGS

I received notification that my vehicle had a recall for related to emissions. At the dealership for repair, I was also informed of a second recall concerning airbags and they may no deploy if needed. The emissions recall was completed however the airbag recall procedure could not be performed due to what the technician described as a "weak" battery in my vehicle. If my vehicle’s battery was insufficient for completing the recall, I believe it is the dealership's responsibility to have the necessary tools, such as a service battery, to perform recall-related repairs. My understanding is that all recall procedures are to be carried out at no cost to the consumer, yet Bill Knight Ford is asking me to pay up wards of $200 to address the battery issue before the recall can be completed. Additionally, after checking the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website with my VIN, I did not find any other recalls listed. With this in mind, I have a few questions: Could you confirm whether there are any open recalls for my vehicle, particularly regarding the airbags? Am I correct in assuming that I am not responsible for ensuring my car is "ready" for recall procedures, such as replacing the battery? If there is an open airbag recall, how can I ensure the dealership completes the necessary repairs at no cost to me?
