Recalls
  • Front Suspension Ball Joints. NHTSA recall 15V560000 affects 8 vehicles. Loose lower and upper ball joints in the independent front suspensions may separate from the steering linkage resulting in loss of steering control and increased crash risk. Dealers will inspect and replace faulty components free of charge. The recall started in October 2015.
  • Pressure Relief Valve. Recall 18V094000 involves 66 vehicles. Corrosion on rings securing Hale pressure relief valves in fire pump water systems may cause valve failure and reduce water pressure available for fire fighting. The risk involves impaired fire fighting efforts and potential injury. Ferrara will replace the retaining ring with stainless steel versions at no cost. The recall began February 2018.
  • Power Control Modules. Recall 16V534000 covers 2 vehicles with Hale ES-KEY power control modules dated from 2014 to 2016. Insufficient circuit protection may cause short circuits leading to electrical component damage, including loss of headlights, increasing crash and fire risk. Dealers will upgrade software or retrofit fuses starting August 2016 free of charge.
  • Touchscreen False Activations. Recall 16V544000 affects 24 vehicles equipped with Hale Ultraview Touchscreens. False switch activations may occur without operator knowledge, causing unintended accessory activations or deactivations that can affect vehicle performance and increase crash risk. Units will be reprogrammed free of charge since August 2016.

Owners coping with repeated repairs linked to these recalls or unresolved safety defects may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting with an attorney specializing in consumer protection and lemon law may provide guidance on available remedies.
