2014 FCCC XCM Complaints and Recall Information
The 2014 FCCC XCM has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to vehicle performance and safety systems based on recall data, though no direct complaints have been filed.
There are six recalls affecting the 2014 FCCC XCM. These recalls primarily involve steering, suspension, and braking systems. The recalls address defects that could impact vehicle handling, brake function, and the risk of fire.
Recalls- Power steering hose routing. NHTSA recall 18V163000 affects 9,480 vehicles. The power steering hose may rub against the starter motor causing electrical arcing and fluid leaks, which poses a fire risk. Dealers will reroute the hose to prevent this issue free of charge.
- Front stabilizer bar mounting. NHTSA recall 16V208000 impacts 822 vehicles. Improper fit of front sway bar brackets can bend or loosen bolts, risking detachment and compromised handling. Dealers will modify the sway bar mounting at no cost.
- Steering sway bar bolts. Covered under recall 16V208000 with the same affected vehicles and fix as the stabilizer bar issue, addressing the risk of handling loss due to loosening bolts.
- Service brake activation. Recall 16V204000 includes 2,989 vehicles. Brake signals to towed devices may not deactivate, causing brake drag, potential overheating, and fire risk. Dealers will modify brake assemblies free of charge.
- Throttle pedal sensor malfunction. Recall 16V321000 affects 2,275 vehicles. The throttle pedal sensor may fail to return to zero, preventing engine brake activation and reducing deceleration ability. Dealers will replace the throttle pedal at no cost.
- Brake activation signal on foot pedal. Recall 16V654000 impacts 1,881 vehicles. Similar to recall 16V204000, the brake signal to towed devices may remain active, risking brake drag and fire. Dealers will modify brake assemblies free of charge.
Owners facing repeated repairs, unresolved recall issues, or defects affecting safety should review their rights under their state’s lemon law for potential protection and remedies.

STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2011-2017 Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) XBR, XCL, XCM, and XCR recreational vehicle chassis, equipped with Cummins ISL engines. The power steering hose on the affected vehicles may be routed incorrectly, and, as a result, the hose may rub against the power stud on the starter motor, possibly causing electrical arcing and a power steering fluid leak.
Risk: Electrical arcing in the presence of leaking power steering fluid can increase the risk of a fire.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) XCM, XCR, and XCL motorhome chassis manufactured December 21, 2012, to December 22, 2015. On certain motorhome chassis built with a heavier, adjustable, straight foot pedal, the brake activation signal to certain towed devices may not deactivate when the motorhome service brakes are released.
Risk: If the brake activation signal to a towed device remains active when the motorhome chassis service brakes are released, the brakes on a towed device may remain engaged depending on brake configuration of the trailer. As a result, the brakes would drag and possibly overheat potentially resulting in a fire. Additionally, following drivers may be confused by the motorhome's actions, increasing the risk of a crash.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 FCCC XCL, XCM, XCP, and XCR motorhome chassis manufactured January 23, 2012, to April 10, 2014. The throttle pedal position sensor on the affected vehicles may not return to zero, causing the engine brake to suddenly not activate as expected, reducing the vehicle's deceleration ability.
Risk: A sudden loss of an engine brake without warning on a motorhome may lead to a reduced brake ability, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 FCC XCS, XCM, XCR, XCL, XCP, XBS, XBR, and XBP trucks manufactured from January 7, 2013, through June 1, 2015. On certain motorhome chassis built with a heavier, adjustable, offset, foot pedal, the brake activation signal to certain towed devices may not deactivate when the motorhome service brakes are released.

STEERING
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 FCCC XBS, XCL, XCS, XCR and XCM motorhome chassis manufactured from March 10, 2015, through January 14, 2016 and equipped with Detroit front axles. The front sway bar mounting brackets may not fit properly on the axle causing the mounting bolts to bend or loosen.
Risk: If the sway bar bolts loosen, the sway bar may detach from the axle, affecting the handling and increasing the risk of a crash.
