The 2016 FCCC XCL has 0 complaints and 75 recalls filed with NHTSA. No owner complaints have been reported. The recalls primarily involve defects related to exterior lighting, electrical systems, steering components, suspension, and service brakes.
Seventy-five recalls affect various systems of the 2016 FCCC XCL. These recalls address safety-related defects including issues with lighting functionality, power steering hose routing, suspension bolt tightness, and brake signal activation to towed devices.
Recalls- Exterior lighting and electrical system. Recall 20V404000 and related campaigns (e.g., 21V00H000, 18V582000) cover about 16,776 to 24,869 vehicles. The rear mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM) may be damaged or have internal issues, causing rear marker lights, brake lights, or turn signals to fail. This increases crash risk due to reduced visibility. Dealers will replace the PDM or install a secondary fused harness at no cost. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisories apply. The recall numbers include FL-856 and FL-917.
- Power steering hose routing. Recall 16V809000 and 18V163000 impact roughly 1,827 to 9,480 vehicles. The power steering hose may rub against the starter motor power stud, causing electrical arcing and fluid leaks. This raises the risk of fire. Dealers will reroute the hose to correct clearance free of charge. Recall numbers are FL-727 and FL-762. No driving restrictions apply.
- Suspension mounting bolts. Recall 18V442000 affects 512 vehicles with V-Ride suspension. Insufficient tightening of suspension mounting bolts can lead to loosening and detachment of rear axle track bars. This can impact handling and stability, increasing crash risk. Dealers will inspect and tighten bolts as needed for free. No "Do Not Drive" warnings issued. Recall number FL-776.
- Service brakes electric activation. Recalls 16V204000 and 16V654000 involve 1,881 to 2,989 vehicles. Heavier or adjustable brake pedals may cause brake activation signals to towed devices to remain active after releasing motorhome brakes, potentially causing brakes to drag, overheat, or cause fires. Dealers will modify brake assemblies at no charge. No driving prohibitions are in place. Recall numbers FL-704 and FL-723.
- Steering system defect. Recall 16V366000 covers about 1,385 vehicles equipped with independent front steering axles. Bosch 8018 steering boxes have faulty internal spacers causing premature wear. Steering wheel connection can fail, resulting in loss of steering. Owners are advised not to drive until inspection and repairs are completed. Dealers will replace steering boxes if needed free of charge. Recall number FL-712 carries a "Do Not Drive" advisory.
Owners with repeated repairs, unresolved recall issues, or defects affecting safety systems may have protections under state lemon laws. They should consult legal resources to understand their rights.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) XBR, XBS, XCR, XCM, XCL, and XCS recreation vehicle chassis. The rear mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM) may have been damaged during manufacturing, possibly resulting in the rear marker lights, brake lights, or turn signals not functioning.
Risk: Nonfunctioning lights can increase the risk of a crash.

STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2011-2017 Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) XBR, XCL, XCM, and XCR recreational vehicle chassis, equipped with Cummins ISL engines. The power steering hose on the affected vehicles may be routed incorrectly, and, as a result, the hose may rub against the power stud on the starter motor, possibly causing electrical arcing and a power steering fluid leak.
Risk: Electrical arcing in the presence of leaking power steering fluid can increase the risk of a fire.
2016 FCCC XCL
512 vehicles affected
SUSPENSION
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) XCL Chassis equipped with V-Ride suspension. The suspension mounting bolts may have been insufficiently tightened, which can result in the bolts loosening.
Risk: If the mounting bolts loosen, the track bars that maintain the positioning of the rear axle may detach, affecting the vehicle's handling and stability and increasing the risk of a crash.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) XCM, XCR, and XCL motorhome chassis manufactured December 21, 2012, to December 22, 2015. On certain motorhome chassis built with a heavier, adjustable, straight foot pedal, the brake activation signal to certain towed devices may not deactivate when the motorhome service brakes are released.
Risk: If the brake activation signal to a towed device remains active when the motorhome chassis service brakes are released, the brakes on a towed device may remain engaged depending on brake configuration of the trailer. As a result, the brakes would drag and possibly overheat potentially resulting in a fire. Additionally, following drivers may be confused by the motorhome's actions, increasing the risk of a crash.
