Unit ceased working. Upon opening it up, it showed evidence of electrical malfunction which appears as thought it could have led to a fire.

Juicebox EV charger failed causing a fire in the electrical outlet

Last week my charger was beeping and flashing red at the end of charging my 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 1st Edition. I cut the power at the breaker and unplugged the device to reveal there had been a fire in the outlet. The plug and outlet had melted together. My certified electrician was called out to diagnose the issue. They ran multiple tests and even replaced the outlet and plug. There are no issues with the electrical setup, however issues with JuiceBox persist. When powering the device back up the machine continued to blink red. We had tried to power the device with the car connected without luck. Later in the evening I received a notice on my car "Electrical system not working correctly. Please service the vehicle." We have cut power to the JuiceBox and will be disposing it. There were no electrical storms that week and all electronics in the house are working. JuiceBox could have burnt down my home and may have caused serious damage to my car's electric system. I'm happy to provide the JuiceBox serial information, receipt from Amazon in August 2021, and vehicle information if it is helpful.

The charger fails to charge. Nothing happens when it is plugged into the vehicle. The dealer has confirmed the vehicle can be fully charged using the dealer’s level 2 charger. I am able to fully charge the vehicle using the level 1 charger supplied with the vehicle. Enel X Way has discontinued support. Even though I still have one year warranty left on the charger the support page indicates support is no longer provided and Enel X is no longer accepting claims.

The Charging unit made by Enel X called a JuiceBox 40 failed to complete a charge. Upon examination of the charger it was determined that the plug from the unit to the 240V receptacle was fused to the outlet and could not be removed. When my electrician opened the box he was able to force the plug out of the outlet. He found that the plug was burned as well as the copper wire that went to the plug from the electrical box.
