Recalls- Wheelchair lift interlock. Recall 10V351000 affects 1167 vehicles. The interlock feature on certain Ricon public use wheelchair lifts may malfunction, allowing operation without the buckle being latched. This defect risks injury by permitting the wheelchair to move during lift operation. Ricon provides a warning decal and training aid as remedy.
- Lift software defect. Recall 10V352000 impacts 457 vehicles. Faulty software on certain Ricon L-series wheelchair lifts causes the lift to travel upward past the floor level cutoff if the control switch is released prematurely. This may cause tipping or falls. Authorized Ricon dealers will perform repairs and provide training materials.
- LED marker lamps. Recall 10V038000 covers 1227 vehicles. Moisture intrusion in Grote Industries LED marker lamps causes failures including overheating and melting, raising fire risk. Dealers will replace affected lamps at no cost.
- Evaporator resistor fire risk. Recall 10V532000 involves 76 vehicles. A short circuit in the blower speed control resistor of Trans Air TA 73 evaporators can cause overheating and possible fire. A thermal shutdown device will be installed free of charge.
- Air conditioner fuse arcing. Recall 11V243000 applies to 4333 vehicles. Carrier GENV EM-1 evaporators may develop loose fuses causing arcing and possible fires. Carrier will provide retrofit kits and repair instructions at no charge.
- Roll stop latch damage. Recall 12V356000 affects 2215 vehicles. Braun Century-2 and Vista-2 wheelchair lifts on these buses may have bent or misaligned roll stop latches over time. This can allow a wheelchair occupant to fall from an elevated lift platform. Dealers will perform repairs free of charge.
- Wheelchair lift platform cracks. Recall 14V610000 covers 178 vehicles. Ricon wheelchair lift platform side plates may crack, causing the platform to separate from the lift and fall when doors open. Owners will have supplemental support bumpers installed and cracked platforms replaced.
- Folding link arm defects. Recall 15V750000 involves 2978 vehicles. Pivot holes in some Ricon wheelchair lift folding link arms may be oversized, allowing bearings to shift position which can cause platform failure and falls. Inspections and replacements of damaged parts are performed free of charge. This recall follows a similar one from 2014.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs or safety issues related to these recalls may have rights under state lemon laws. Consulting a consumer protection attorney could provide guidance on possible remedies or actions available.

Eldorado National- Kansas (Eldorado) is recalling certain model year 2006-2015 Aerotech, AeroElite, Aerolite, Advantage, Transtech, and Krystal shuttle buses and model year 2006-2014 VersaShuttle shuttle buses manufactured January 1, 2006, to August 25, 2014, equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts manufactured by the Ricon Corporation. The affected lifts are equipped with folding link arms that may have pivot holes that are too big, allowing the bearings to move out of position.
Risk: If the bearings move out of position, the stowed platform may have excessive movement resulting in failure of the platform mounting. This failure could cause the wheel chair lift platform to fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, increasing the risk of injury for the lift operator.

EQUIPMENT
ELDORADO NATIONAL IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2008 AEROTECH BUSES EQUIPPED WITH TRANS AIR TA 73 EVAPORATORS. THE EVAPORATOR UTILIZES A POWER RESISTOR TO REGULATE BLOWER SPEED. SHOULD A SHORT OCCUR IN THE "LOW OR MEDIUM SPEED" CIRCUIT WHILE THE BLOWER IS IN HIGH SPEED, THE SHORT WILL CAUSE THE SUPPLY VOLTAGE TO FEEDBACK THROUGH THE RESISTOR TO GROUND, NOT DRAWING ENOUGH CURRENT TO TRIP THE FUSE.
Risk: THIS WOULD CAUSE THE RESISTOR TEMPERATURE TO RISE TO A POINT WHERE IT WILL MELT AND POSSIBLY IGNITE THE PLASTIC BLOWER HOUSING TO WHICH IT IS MOUNTED. THE OVERHEATING CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.
