Recalls- Wheelchair lift restraint buckle. NHTSA campaign 10V351000 affects 1,167 vehicles from 2008-2010. The interlock feature may fail, allowing the lift to operate without the buckle latched. This risks occupant injury due to unexpected wheelchair movement. The fix involves a warning decal and a DVD training aid provided by Ricon starting August 2010.
- Wheelchair lift software defect. NHTSA campaign 10V352000 affects 457 vehicles from 2008-2010. Defective software can cause the lift to continue moving upward about 1 second past its stop point. This may cause wheelchairs or standing riders to fall, risking injury. Ricon dealers will perform repairs and provide training aids starting August 2010.
- Air conditioner fuse holder. NHTSA campaign 11V243000 affects 4,333 vehicles from 2007-2011. The fuse may loosen causing arcing and potential melting of the fuse holder, increasing fire risk. Carrier provides retrofit kits and instructions free of charge. The recall began April 29, 2011.
- Wheelchair lift roll stop latch. NHTSA campaign 12V356000 impacts 2,215 vehicles from 2007-2011. Roll stop latches may bend or misalign over time, allowing a wheelchair occupant to fall if the lift is elevated. Dealers will repair free of charge. The recall started September 14, 2012.
- Wheelchair lift platform side plate. NHTSA campaign 14V610000 covers 178 vehicles from 2006-2014. Cracking of the platform side plate could cause the lift platform to separate and fall when the door opens, risking operator injury. Owners must have supplemental support bumpers installed or cracked platforms replaced at no cost. The recall began October 20, 2014.
- Wheelchair lift folding link arms. NHTSA campaign 15V750000 affects 2,978 vehicles from 2006-2015. Oversized pivot holes cause bearings to move out of position leading to excessive platform movement and possible platform detachment. Repairs include inspection and replacement of damaged parts. This recall began December 15, 2015, and includes vehicles that previously received 2014 recall remedies.
Owners facing repeated repairs or unresolved safety-related recall issues with wheelchair lifts or related equipment may have rights under state lemon laws. Consulting with a qualified attorney could help evaluate potential claims involving persistent defects or safety concerns.
