Recalls
  • Seat belt buckles. NHTSA recall 13V601000 affects 10 vehicles. The seat belt latch plate can partially engage, making the belt hard to unlatch and risking hindered emergency egress. E-One will inspect and replace buckles if needed.
  • Vehicle input module software. Recall 14V217000 affects 112 vehicles. Faulty software may cause brake lights to illuminate incorrectly and prevent idle increase when auxiliary equipment runs, risking crashes and reduced tool performance. Dealers will update the software.
  • Front suspension ball joints. Recall 15V598000 affects 9 vehicles. Loose ball joints may separate, causing loss of steering control and increasing crash risk. Repairs include inspection and necessary fixes to suspension assemblies.
  • Front shock mounts. Recall 19V598000 affects 57 vehicles. Shocks may detach from upper mounts, damaging steering gear housing and causing power steering fluid leaks, risking steering failure. Dealers will install new mounting hardware.
  • Starter solenoid circuits. Recall 19V730000 covers 1603 vehicles. Lack of diodes in starter relay circuits causes damage that may prevent vehicle starting, delaying emergency response. Repairs involve installing diodes and relay replacements.
  • Lower front suspension ball joints. Recall 17V231000 affects 29 vehicles. Loose ball joints may cause partial steering loss and crash risk. Dealers will inspect, clean, and secure the joints at no cost.
  • Upper front suspension ball joints. This is also covered under recall 17V231000 with the same scope and remedy as the lower ball joints.
  • HVAC electrical relays. Recall 18V747000 affects 86 vehicles with relays that may melt due to high current load, increasing fire risk. Dealers will replace relay assemblies free of charge.
  • Starter assembly wiring. Recall 18V019000 impacts 1147 vehicles. Accumulated damage to the starter lock-out relay circuit due to missing diodes can prevent starting, hindering emergency response. The fix is diode installation and relay replacement.
  • Front axle spindles. Recall 18V171000 involves 36 vehicles. Fatigue cracks may develop in front axle spindles, risking wheel separation and crash danger. Axle spindles will be replaced by dealers.
  • Fire pump pressure relief valves. Recall 17V739000 affects 298 vehicles. Corroded retaining rings may fail, causing reduced water pressure during firefighting efforts, increasing injury risk. A stainless steel retaining ring will be installed.

Owners facing repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues involving steering, electrical systems, or safety equipment may have rights under state lemon laws. Those dealing with serious defects should consult legal expertise to understand their options.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:STARTER ASSEMBLY

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Typhoon and Cyclone 2, 2013-2014 Cyclone 3, 2014-2019 Quest 2 and 2017 CHSH emergency vehicles equipped with a Cummins ISL, L9, ISX12, X12, ISX15, or X15 engine. The engines do not have a diode in the starter solenoid circuit to improve the longevity of the lock-out relay, resulting in accumulated damage over time.

Risk: The damaged starter lock-out relay may prevent the vehicle from starting, hindering personnel from responding to emergencies, increasing the risk of an injury.

57 vehicles affected

19V598000

SUSPENSION:FRONT

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Cyclone II, 2013-2014 and 2016-2019 Typhoon, 2015-2017 Quest fire trucks. The front shocks may separate from their upper mount on the front suspension. The loose shock may contact and damage the steering gear housing, possibly causing a steering fluid leak and a loss of power steering assist.

Risk: A loss of hydraulic steering assist can increase the risk of a crash.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:STARTER ASSEMBLY

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain 2013-2017 Cyclone II, Typhoon, and Quest II emergency vehicles equipped with a Cummins ISL, L9, ISX15, or X15 engine. The affected engines do not have a diode in the starter solenoid circuit to improve the longevity of the lock-out relay, resulting in accumulated damage over time.

Risk: The damaged starter lock-out relay may prevent the vehicle from starting, hindering personnel from responding to emergencies.

18V747000

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain 2012-2015 E-One Cyclone II, Cyclone III and Typhoon emergency vehicles. High current load in the HVAC system can cause one of the relays to melt.

Risk: A melting relay can increase the risk of a fire.

2013 E-ONE TYPHOON

36 vehicles affected

18V171000

SUSPENSION:FRONT

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain 2008-2015 E-One Typhoon, Cyclone II, and Quest II vehicles, equipped with Timoney Independent Front Suspensions. Inconsistent machining may result in fatigue cracks developing over time in the front axle spindles, causing failure of the spindle and the possible separation of a front wheel from the vehicle.

Risk: A wheel separation from the vehicle can increase the risk of a crash.

SUSPENSION:FRONT

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Typhoon, Cyclone II, and Quest emergency vehicles manufactured August 2, 2013, to December 16, 2014. The affected vehicles have front independent suspension assemblies that may have loose ball joints which could separate causing a loss of steering control.

Risk: A loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash.

2013 E-ONE TYPHOON

112 vehicles affected

14V217000

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Emergency One Typhoon, Cyclone II, and Quest Fire Fighting Chassis manufactured March 19, 2013, through April 15, 2014, and equipped with Vehicle Input Module (VIM) part number 508875. The VIM, used to supply programming inputs that monitor and control some vehicle functions such as lights, warning indicators and some interlock functions of the vehicle electrical system, has software that may experience a defect that affects the operation of the brake lights and other electrical operations of the vehicle.

Risk: The VIM software may cause the vehicle's brake lights to be illuminated even when the vehicle is not braking and may prevent the vehicle's ability to raise its idle when auxilliary equipment is being used. If the brake lights are illuminated while the vehicle is moving it could make other motorists think the vehicle is stopping/slowing down and increase the risk of a vehicle crash. If the vehicle cannot raise its idle when auxilliary equipment is being used, equipment such as aerial devices, electrical generators and rescue tools may have reduced performance.

2013 E-ONE TYPHOON

13V601000

SEAT BELTS:FRONT:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain model year 2013 model Typhoon and Cyclone II fire fighting vehicles equipped with IMMI-brand L9 seat belt buckles. When the button is pressed to release the seat belt, the latch plate can become partially engaged with the buckle, making the seat belt difficult to unlatch. Thus, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies."

Risk: If the latch plate remains partially engaged after the button is pressed, egress from the vehicle could be hindered which would increase the risk of injury in the event of an emergency.
