2006 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN Complaints and Recall Information

The 2006 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN has 3 complaints and 2 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report the vehicle stalling at low speeds while the engine continues to run. There are also reports of sliding doors failing to close and lock automatically and windows that fail to roll down.

Common Issues
  • Stalling while driving. Vehicle stalls while moving at 5-10 MPH despite the engine running, requiring coasting to a stop.
  • Loss of accelerator response. Engine runs but does not respond when pressing the accelerator pedal, affecting vehicle control.
  • Sliding door malfunctions. Sliding doors fail to close and lock automatically and can open unexpectedly while driving.
  • Window operation failure. One or more windows fail to roll down as intended.

Two recalls affect the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with systems related to seating and airbag sensors. The recalls cover potential safety hazards involving seat base welds and frontal crash sensor malfunctions that may reduce airbag effectiveness.

Recalls
  • Seat base defect. NHTSA recall 10V338000 affects 2 vehicles from 2006 and 2007 with VMI/Ricon 6-way power seat bases. A defective weld may cause the seat base pin to break, risking occupant injury. Repairs are performed free of charge by Driving Specialties, which will notify owners starting July 28, 2010.
  • Frontal airbag sensor failure. Recall 10V008000 impacts 308,950 Dodge Caravan, Grand Caravan, and Chrysler Town & Country vehicles from model years 2005 and 2006 originally sold or registered in multiple states. Front crash sensors may crack and allow water intrusion, rendering sensors inoperative and illuminating the airbag warning light. This condition may reduce enhanced airbag protection during certain frontal crashes. Chrysler will replace the sensors for free starting in June 2010.

Owners dealing with repeated stalling, unresponsive controls, safety defects, or unresolved recall repairs may consider reviewing their rights under their state’s lemon law for potential remedies.
