Recalls- Air conditioner fuse defect. Recall 11V099000 affects 1320 vehicles manufactured 2006-2010 with Carrier GENV EM-1 evaporator units. The fuse may loosen causing arcing, which can melt the fuse holder and cause flame, smoke, or fire. Diamond Coach will provide a retrofit kit and repair instructions at no charge. The recall began February 24, 2011.
- Ricon lift restraint belt issue. Recall 10V109000 affects 26 VIP coaches from 2007-2009 with Ricon public use lifts. The restraint belt tongue can appear latched without fully engaging, allowing the lift to run with the occupant unsecured. This poses an injury risk if the lift moves improperly. Ricon issues a warning decal and training DVD. The recall began March 15, 2010.
- Braun lift roll stop latch failure. Recall 12V263000 covers 278 buses from 2008-2010 with Braun Century-2 and Vista-2 wheelchair lifts. The roll stop latches may bend or misalign, allowing wheelchair occupants to defeat or ride over them, risking falls from elevated lifts. Braun dealers will repair at no cost. The recall started June 2012.
- Ricon lift folding link arm defect. Recall 15V724000 involves 49 buses from 2006-2011 with Ricon S2010 and S5510 wheelchair lifts. Oversized pivot holes may let bearings move out of position, causing excessive platform movement and possible platform failure when doors open, risking injury. Inspections and part replacements are free. Recall began December 17, 2015.
- Ricon lift platform side plate cracking. Recall 14V611000 affects 45 buses from 2006-2011 with certain Ricon wheelchair lifts. Cracking side plates may separate the platform, which can fall when doors open and injure operators. Supplemental support bumpers are installed free, or platforms replaced if cracked. Owners were notified to have repairs done starting November 2014.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or unresolved recall issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a qualified attorney familiar with consumer protection and vehicle defect claims is advised for further assistance.

Diamond Coach Corporation (Diamond) is recalling certain model year 2006-2011 VIP and PT 2000, 2200, 2500, 2800, 3200, and 3201 transit buses manufactured January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2011, and equipped with certain Ricon model S2010 and S5510 wheelchair lifts. The affected lifts are equipped with folding link arms that may have pivot holes that are too big, allowing the bearings to move out of position.
Risk: If the bearings move out of position, the stowed platform may have excessive movement resulting in failure of the platform mounting. This failure could cause the wheel chair lift platform to fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, increasing the risk of injury for the lift operator.

DIAMOND COACH HAS NOTIFIED NHTSA ABOUT A DEFECT IN CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2009 VIP COACHES FITTED WITH RICON PUBLIC USE LIFTS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN DECEMBER 1, 2007 TO DECEMBER 18, 2009. THE RESTRAINT BELT ON THESE LIFTS WAS DESIGNED TO PREVENT THE LIFT FROM MOVING, UNLESS THE TONGUE OF THE BELT IS FULLY ENGAGED AND LATCHED IN THE BUCKLE. RICON HAS DISCOVERED, HOWEVER, THAT IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE OPERATOR TO INSERT THE BELT TONGUE INTO THE BUCKLE WITHOUT FULLY ENGAGING THE LATCHING MECHANISM. IN THIS CASE, THE RESTRAINT BELT WOULD APPEAR TO BE LATCHED, AND THE OPERATOR COULD RUN THE LIFT. IF THE RESTRAINT BELT TONGUE IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED INTO THE RESTRAINT BELT BUCKLE, AND LATCHED, THE LIFT MAY OPERATE WITH AN OCCUPANT ON THE PLATFORM.
Risk: THE USER OF THE LIFT COULD BE INJURED SHOULD THE LIFT MOVE WITHOUT THE RESTRAINT BELT PROPERLY BUCKLED.
