I am driving a 2023 Suburban Z71, continually on and of of the engine light and "reduction in acceleration, drive with care" this truck has the same issue and same engine as the recall, but is not included. Yesterday i was almost t boned at an intersection because the vehicle would not develop enough power to get across a street at a stop sign. one of the scariest and near disastrous occurrences of my life. this truck is deadly

Transmission malfunction. This has appeared several times at highway speeds and low speeds. We have dad to limp along in the slow lane to exit ramp and take back roads to the nearest dealership. The current problem has been confirmed with error codes P0747. The dealership has scanned this vehicle and detected error codes in the past on two different occasions and found P176C in TCM on 08/01/23 and P17D6 on 10/24/24. Check engine light comes on with a screen prompt âĂĂşReduced Acceleration Drive with CareâĂĂš. The transmission valve body has already been addressed once because of triggering limp mode.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - Initially, the vehicle began making loud 'clanking' sounds from the engine, which immediately affected the ability to drive the vehicle. Upon further inspection by a third-party mechanic, it was determined that the Crank Shaft had malfunctioned. This is a known recall for our vehicle type (model, year, engine), however, no recall notice has been received at this time. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - The vehicle was slowing abruptly while in drive mode, potentially causing a vehicular accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - Yes, we did not deliver the vehicle to a dealer, as no assistance was initially offered when we made an attempt to call and inquire. However, a third-party mechanic was able to determine the issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? - Not at this time, as the dealer we initially inquired with did not seem inclined to assist. We consulted with a third party. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -No. Failure messages or icons came on after the engine failure began

My vehicle suddenly stalled while driving. I later replaced the battery and discovered the telecom module was damaged, making the OnStar system inoperable. GM disagreed with my warranty claim and required me to replace the module at my own expense. I discovered the same issue is common in various GM models from 2023-2025. My Suburban and Yukon both have the same issue, making them defective. However, GM will not provide a free replacement under warranty.

Not sure the exact cause yet. But another big leak of coolant from the car. This is the 4th big problem with the same issue. I have been dealing with engine/radiator/coolant problems with this car since April 2024. It has been in the shop 2 separate times for 9 weeks total. With other visits in between. There is something wrong with this car.

This vehicle shifts hard and was identified to have a transmission valve issue. It should be under the same recall that other Chevrolet vehicles have with same issue. On top of this, Chevrolet cannot keep up with demand for this part making only 500 per week. IâĂĂ´ve been told it may be 2 months before I have my vehicle back.

Its been over a month and the dealership is unable to remedy this defect. I also called GM and they said the recall in incomplete and its in the preliminary stage. We are concerned that this is a serious safety recall and GM will not offer alternative solutions in a reasonable time.

Our Chevrolet suburban has 57,000 miles on it. We have started getting a check engine light and IâĂĂ´m getting code P1098 for the cooling control valve. This is a very common issue on these vehicles IâĂĂ´m noticing now. From what IâĂĂ´m reading in February of this year (2025) gm gave this issue an e code so these valves would no longer be covered pay the powertrain and they would now fall under emissions for a much shorter warranty coverage. This has been and ongoing issue since 2020. These valves are also commonly found to be on national back order causing long lead times and driving of the vehicles without properly functioning. GM knows these are and issue and shortening the warranty is not the fix. These vehicles werenâĂĂ´t bought with a short warranty and shouldnâĂĂ´t be able to be reduced to a short warranty.

Issue: The vehicle intermittently displays a âĂĂşKey Not FoundâĂĂš or âĂĂşNo Key DetectedâĂĂš message on the dash and refuses to start, despite both original factory-issued key fobs being present and having fresh batteries. The issue began in summer 2023 and has progressively worsened. The vehicle has stranded our family multiple times, sometimes requiring a tow, family impact, missed obligations. Luckily for all urgent needs like trips to the ER or Urgent care, we were able to use our other vehicle, but we no longer have that vehicle and it is important that our sole vehicle be a reliable one. Impact: âĂ¢Two emergency room visits and multiple urgent pediatric appointments affected âĂ¢Forced to rely on one family vehicle for months âĂ¢Paid for tow and fob batteries âĂ¢Multiple instances of no rental coverage âĂ¢GM and dealers often declined documentation or action due to the issue being âĂĂşintermittentâĂĂš ââÂŞ Request: We believe there is a systemic defect in the SuburbanâĂĂ´s keyless entry/ignition system (likely receiver or antenna module). We request that NHTSA investigate and that GM be required to issue a recall or permanent repair for affected models. This issue poses a safety concern and has created financial and logistical hardship for our family.

I was driving down the road at roughly 30 mph when my fuel tank dropped. The front fuel tank strap fell off and the bolt was gone. The fuel tank drug on the road, which prompted me to stop driving. There are scrapes on the front of the fuel tank and the strap was bent. This is a huge safety concern because had the fuel tank cracked or fell off completely this could have caused a fire. Had we been traveling at higher speeds, this could have been a very serious accident. The potential for gasoline or diesel to ignite was absolutely present. It could cause a fire or even an explosion, potentially injuring occupants and causing damage to the vehicle. I was travelling with my kids and mom, so the risk of injury to multiple people was present. The manufacturers only response so far is that it was not an open recall issue so it is not covered. No warning lights came on when this happened.

IâĂĂ´m filing this complaint regarding a serious safety concern with my 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle is affected by NHTSA Recall 25V274 related to a potential defect in the crankshaft or connecting rods. GM has confirmed the recall, but there is currently no fix available, and dealerships are not equipped to inspect the engine to determine if itâĂĂ´s defective. This leaves us driving a vehicle with a known risk of sudden engine failure, especially at highway speeds or while towing. In addition, my vehicle is also experiencing a transmission issues and is expected to be in the shop for up to three months for repairs. The combination of an unresolved engine recall and a failing transmission makes this vehicle unsafe and unreliable. We are a family of six with four small children (two in car seats, two in boosters). We purchased this Suburban specifically for safety, towing capacity, and long-distance driving. Right now, we are left without a safe or functional vehicle. GM refuses to provide a comparable rental and has offered only $44/day, which doesnâĂĂ´t cover anything close to what we need. WeâĂĂ´ve attempted to work through GM and our local dealership to resolve the issue, but weâĂĂ´ve been passed back and forth with no solution. IâĂĂ´m concerned that GM is knowingly allowing vehicles with unresolved safety defects to remain on the road with families inside them. IâĂĂ´m asking NHTSA to investigate the handling of this recall and the delays in the transmission repair that are putting families like mine at risk.

Brand new 2023 suburban radiator ruptured at 14,000 miles. Radiator and hoses replaced April 2024 and the car has ongoing issues since then. Most recently the car has a strong coolant smell and the dealership states they cannot find a leak or source of the smell. I have worked with 2 different dealerships on this matter. I was told that the radiator was a âĂĂşpoorly manufactured partâĂĂš when it originally ruptured. No safety warnings ever appeared even when the oil was dripping out of the bottom after the original rupture. Oil and coolant had mixed in the coolant reservoir and no warning light ever signaled. The most recent coolant smell poses a safety risk to my families respiratory system as the manufacturer states they cannot find the source of the smell and have tried to return to vehicle to me twice with the strong odor coming out of the vents. We have had the coolant reservoir flushed several times as oil remains in their, hoses replaced, and ongoing service visits for a year for the same thing since the original rupture in April 2024.

My 2023 High Country Chevrolet Suburban's V8 6.2L engine failed 6 hours from home while our family was en route to Colorado. It was towed to the closest city and the dealership informed me the engines are on a nationwide backorder and it could be months before one is made available. The dealership stated that GM will not release information as to where the customer is on "the list" of recipients. My car has 44,000 miles and is well maintained. It has been in the shop for other repairs - suspension issues, tech package problems (wifi, onstar, google and navigation not working properly). Spoke with GM representative and was told if the engine makes it onto the recall list the repair will be expedited. Not sure how that is possible with so many engines failing. Maybe GM/Chevrolet will be forced to increase production.

Middle of engine started making a tapping sound. Went to closest dealership service department. They said it was most likely an issue with the valve train but we should be able to get home. They said it was going to need a new engine just as soon as they could find one.

6.2L L87 Engine Failure with 36,000 miles on it. While driving on the highway and attempting to pass another vehicle that was traveling on a 2-lane highway the car suddenly died, and the transmission shifted into neutral. When I noticed the vehicle would not accelerate, I looked down and saw the push to start warning and tried to restart the vehicle with no response. I had to allow the vehicle I was passing to get ahead of me before I could swap back into that lane to get out of the way of oncoming traffic eventually coasting onto the side of the road to a complete stop. The vehicle I was passing slowed down after the engine died not knowing what I was doing and drove right beside me blocking the lane until I signaled for them to go ahead so I could get back into the lane. If the vehicle in the oncoming lane had not slowed down to allow me time to get back into the proper lane a head on collision would have occurred. This 2023 vehicle was purchased used 14days prior from a GM certified dealership and had no warning lamps on the dash and showed no indication a failure was about to occur. The vehicle was driving perfectly normal until the failure occurred. Once the vehicle was towed to the dealership it was determined the engine had failed due to crankshaft bearings. The dealership explained there were no available replacement GM engines and could possibly be a lead time of 6 months before a replacement engine could arrive. I purchased the vehicle for $60,000 and the engine fails 14 days later and now I could be without a vehicle for 6 months and the dealership did not have any loaner vehicles available.

I pulled into a parking spot and the car died right before I shut it off. I came out and restarted it to leave and it backed up about 5 feet and died and would never start again. There was never any prior indication that it had any problems. I bought it new and always had a Chevy dealer do the required maintenance. I was told today that it would need a new engine because the engine has seized up; however, until they do a full tear down of the engine, they said they cannot tell me exactly what has cause the problem. I have heard of others having problems with the 6.2 engine so I thought I would report it. I don't have any paperwork yet from the dealer to upload.

The vehicle was towed by Manning's Towing of Gillette, Wyoming to White's Frontier Motors, 444 Skyline Drive, Gillette, WY 82718. After 10 days in the shop, the service department diagnosed the engine was inoperable and the vehicle would need a new engine. There was no indication of the engine failure prior to its failure. In October 2024, the vehicle just shut off while we were driving down the road. Had to pull off to the side and got it going after about 5 minutes. Couldn't get the vehicle to replicate the problem so nothing chevy could do. No check engine light. No codes were given. On January 4th the vehicle started making a horrible noise. But then stopped making the noise on January 5th. Called Olympia, Washington Chevrolet to get it in to be looked at. Soonest appointment they had was February 5th. I made the appointment. February 11th, the engine seized and quick working completely. February 13th, had the vehicle towed to the nearest Chevrolet. Getting the vehicle into neutral and on the tow truck was terrifying. Makes me question the transmission. My vehicle has been at Chevrolet since January 13th. Today is March 11th. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle once it does get fixed. It has left me stranded twice. Once when it just shut off and another when it actually broke down for good.

I was on [XXX] in Athens, Ga. Going about 65mph in the left lane, casually passing a slow truck. it was rainy, in a construction zone, heavy traffic. With no warning lights or indication there was a problem the engine suddenly died and shifted itself into neutral. I had just started going up hill, no left lane median but I managed to barely make the right shoulder, when the vehicle came to a stop it shifted into Park, from that point forward the vehicle was locked down. I was so close to the traffic I had to fold the drivers mirror. I literally sat on the passenger side of the truck with my seat belt fastened because I expected to be hit. Took about 1.5 hours for tow truck. The tow truck driver was nearly hit trying to load the truck, several accidents were narrowly avoided by people trying to move over. Truck taken to Auto Gallery Chevrolet in Commerce GA, after three weeks they confirmed the engine had to be replaced and it would be done under warranty. I have not been told the exact nature of the failure, but they did confirm the engine could not be rotated. They could not tell me how long it would take to find and engine but there was another vehicle with the same issue that was ahead of me. To the best of by knowledge Chevrolet has accepted the failure report completed by the technician but have not otherwise engaged. I have not been provided any documentation from the dealership. Without any warning driving 65 mph down a freeway the suburbans motor totally shut down. We had to cross over 2 lanes without getting hit by all the traffic. No dashboard lights ever came on until after we got onto the shoulder and sat there for an hour then the check engine light came on. We got stranded 2 hours from our vacation spot in AZ and now weâĂĂ´re stranded 1,600 miles from our home in MN. After 5 hours in the middle of the desert the tow truck finally showed up and towed the vehicle to Sands Dealership in Surprise AZ. We have never had any other problems before this happened. Never thought At 2023 vehicle with 30,000 miles would blow Motor. Waiting to hear from GM on what our options are to get it fixed and get us back home!

Traveling [XXX] on [XXX] through Pascagoula, Ms at approximately 70mph. The engine revved high then put itself into Neutral and shutdown. I was able to coast safely to the shoulder of the road. There had been no prior warning of potential problems. The vehicle engine seized up and could not be placed into neutral for the tow service to safely load it. I was cruising at 45 - 50 mph and the vehicle went into NEUTRAL, shut off, would not restart, and would not shift into drive. I pulled into a Publix. I pressed the start /Stop button and the dash turned off. I turn pressed the brake and pressed the ignition button and the Suburban started up. Drove out of the parking lot and began accelerating when the vehicle shut off again. I could not restart the vehicle. I was able to coast into a gas station parking lot, but half of the vehicle was sticking out into the road. The vehicle would not go into neutral and would not start. The vehicle was towed to Palm Chevrolet in Ocala, Florida.

I was driving on [XXX] in rural Montana (zero cell phone coverage) on [XXX] (freezing weather, snow packed roads). Without warning the suburban just shut down. It seemed to still have "power". interior lights worked ect. but the engine just died. I tried to pull mostly off of the road but I couldn't get it entirely off of the road because of the snow pushed off of the road by snow plows. I tried to restart the vehicle several times but it would not turn over. I assumed it was an electrical issue at the time. There was zero warning that there was any engine issue. When a mechanic finally had the opportunity to look into the issue he told me the engine has seized up. I had to walk several miles in the cold hoping to get cell phone service to get to a place to warm up. I also couldn't get the vehicle off of the road and I was sure the vehicle was going to be hit or cause an accident on the narrow highway. Traveling at high speed on major highway and engine stopped. Unable to get car restarted and in fact the instrument panel and information center blanked out. Was forced to have vehicle towed approximately 60 miles to purchasing dealership for diagnosis. Dealer indicates engine is seized and will require replacement. Vehicle has had excellent, verifiable, maintenance record. We have owned this vehicle for approximately 18 months and currently has approximately 62,000 miles. Upon research, I have learned that our vehicle is not the only GM product to have this premature failure.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the message to "Please Restart Engine" was displayed before the vehicle stalled. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to restart. The contact coasted the vehicle off to the shoulder before the vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
