2024 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500 Complaints and Recall Information

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:TAILGATE:LATCH

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in park.

Risk: An unlatched tailgate may open while driving and result in a loss of unsecured cargo, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP:CONTROL/DRIVE MODULE

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated, and the transmission failed to properly shift. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who discovered metal shavings inside the fuel filter and diagnosed that the High-Pressure Fuel Pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The high-pressure fuel pump was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. Later, while hauling a trailer on the highway, the vehicle unexpectedly stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed that the fuel pump control module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 19,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH and attempting to depress the brake pedal, the message “Trailer Brakes Disabled” was displayed. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed the contact the vehicle was operating as designed, and that neither the vehicle nor the trailer would be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.

SUSPENSION

I keep getting a chunking noise coming from the rear of vehicle. Twice I have taking in to the dealer and I was told this condition may be caused by movement between the anchor plate and axle assembly. They have re-torqueing the joints of the leaf springs assembly. it coming loose. It has happened after 4,000 miles. This tells me that it can come loose while I am driving! GM has a service document ID: 5501065. It has been happening since 2020!

POWER TRAIN

10-speed automatic transmission valve body failure at 41k Parts are unavailable nor are replacement transmissions. Dealership says 3 months

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

When driving my truck and towing a trailer which has elec. over hyd. brakes and trying to stop. My truck will disable my brakes on my trailer, which may weigh 3+ times the weight of my truck. GM had a recall on the truck brake module which fixed my problem. Then l took my truck back for an oil change a few months later and they said that there is a open recall on the brake module (NEWER UPDATE) which once again caused my brake issues again with the newer recall. l have opened up a complaint with GM and they say take it to a GM dealer. The dealer checks the truck out and says there is no problem with the truck. They tell me that l need to install a module on my trailer ,which l did early on with the problem. l did own a 2017 chevy and pulled that trailer with NO issues. The trailer dealer hooked the trailer to a 2018 GMC and a 2016 Dodge pick-up. And had NO problem with the trailer brakes and put a NYS inspection sticker on my trailer LAST MONTH. We !! the trailer dealer and myself have spoken to the company ( brake module) that GM says that l need. This trailer brake module which the trailer dealer installed in Feb 2024 still did not fix my problem. The brake module company told me GM has His words a HORNETS NEST problem with this issue. SERVICE BRAKES

The brakes on this vehicle are very spongy, they have to be pushed all the way to the floor to get the vehicle to stop. When pulling a trailer you are on pins and needles wondering if you can get the truck to stop. The trailer brakes are doing most of the stopping. I have owned many trucks and the brakes on this 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 are the worst that I have ever experienced. This is a Safety hazard with serious implications. I have talked to many other people with the same truck and they also claim that the brake system is faulty and/or sub standard. I have taken my truck back to the dealer and they claim that the brakes are working normal (test driving around their service lot). This is a serious problem that needs to be investigated by your orginazation. Thank you in advance for any insight on this serious brake issue.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

During the failure, the audible turn signal was inoperable and the warning messages from the infotainment center could not be heard.
