The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and decelerated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the transmission valve body was faulty. The valve body was replaced and reprogrammed, but immediately after retrieving the vehicle, the failure reoccurred while driving approximately 45 MPH. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 62,000.

The fuel pump inside the tank shorted out and left us stranded. This is the same pump that was used on the the 2022 Duramax systems however they upped the fuel pressure on the 2024 refresh and it has become a known problem of shorting out.

The differential, front right axil "housing" is rusted to the point that it is pitting. The rust completely covers the entire right axil housing and does not come close to matching the light corrosion when compared to the rest of the differential or anywhere else on the vehicle. These indicators lead me to believe the housing was in a corrosive environment prior to being installed onto the differential where both the internal and external surfaces of the housing were exposed to same corrosive environment. Several concerns: If the inside of the axil housing is rusted as bad as the outside, the integrity of the axil has been compromised; Internal rust contamination will lead to premature failure; the housing was not properly heat-treated; no vehicle should be delivered brand new with this level of rust on any part. The issue was pointed out to GM shortly after purchased new. The vehicle has been kept in a non-corrosive environment since it was purchased, and GM refuses to assess the internal integrity of the axil housing and refuse to install a new housing. I am cautious about towing heavy loads since I do not want risk towing 21,000 lbs. if or when the housing fails. I have seen other Silverado, 2500 HDs with the same issue. As an experienced Airframe and Powerplant mechanic with automotive experience, I would never allow a vehicle to operate with this level of contamination unless I could confirm the integrity of the housing via nondestructive inspection and thickness measurements. Or should I just start towing and wait to see if it fails?

My truck had approximately 55,000 miles on it when the incident happened. I pulled out of a store and began going down the road and the rear wheels locked up slamming everything forward and the truck and leaving us almost rear ended. The truck was stuck in one gear after breaking the tires free with check engine lights flashing and the dash saying reduced power. It has since been at the dealership for 3 months waiting on a valve body with no end in sight. There is apparently a national back order on these faulty parts because of how common this high speed rear wheel lockup is so I am left without a vehicle or an end in sight.

While towing my travel trailer at 55 mph the truck rear tires locked up causing an alerting situation. The transmission automatically shifted out of tow/haul mode, the CEL illuminated and the following message appeared on the dash "reduced acceleration condition, drive with caution". This event happened a total of 3 times within a 20 mile distance. Because it was a short burst and I was traveling on a straight section of roadway, the risk of accident was moderate. This would have been a high risk of danger if I were on a curving downhill section of roadway. The situation was confirmed by my local dealer through a diagnostic check exhibiting a P0747 and P0700 error code. There were no CELs or other warnings prior to the lockup. The diagnosis was a problem with the transmission valve body. A new valve body was ordered and arrived 14 days later. After the new VB was installed the symptoms appear to be gone after driving about 50 miles.

Truck went into “Reduced Acceleration” or “Limp Mode” while pulling my camper. Took truck to Kool Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, MI. They confirmed it is a bad Valve body on the transmission. No estimated time from Chevy on getting a replacement valve body. They confirmed this is a widespread known issue and could be weeks if not months. I have a family camping trip planned for the upper peninsula of Michigan in mid July and they aren’t giving not giving me any indication that I could have my truck back by then.

I bought my track about a year ago. Within the first week of owning it. Multiple times a week, when I start it there is no sound. No radio, music, blinkers, etc. Absolutely no sound. Some of the time once I get to where im going, turn it off. Once I start it again it's back. The other times takes a couple times to hear it again. When I asked the dealership, I was told it's a known issue. 9 months later it still does it. Some weeks once or twice. Other weeks up to 10 times. I pd alot of money for my truck and yes I expect it to have no problems like this.

With 19,000 miles on my Silverado 2500 HD I was traveling down a hill towards a stop sign at a T intersection. About 100 yeads from the stop sign I had many flashing errors on the dash, very little brake and very little steering. The engine just shot off. Fortunately I was able to stop the vehicle right at the stop sign while traffic from right and left had no stop sign. The truck would not start after. It did have electrical power. I tow was needed. The next day the Chevy dealer did find a bulletin for a wire in the engine compartment chaffed. Symptoms were the same as what I experienced. Repair was made. Bulletin #24-NA-124. There is no doubt a bulletin should be issued but I believe this is a real safety issue with the engine just randomly shutting off leaving no power to brakes and steering. Had this happened while I was towing our camper I would not have stopped and t boned another vehicle causing damage and no doubt injury to others and myself. If traveling on an interstate at 70 MPH this could have been even worst. This is a known problem and should be a recall and not just a bulletin. Thanks.

I was making a right turn and my signal started flashing faster than normal and stated service passenger front turn lamp. There is no way of service without replacing the entire headlight which is $2000.00 for one side. Took to gm dealer about a month ago to diagnose the opposite side and they stated warranty will not cover it. The truck had approximately 76k miles on it when the driver side was looked at and the passenger side was with 78k miles. I have contacted gm warranty claims department twice now to put it all on record. It’s a major safety concern when I have no turn signals on the front which could easily cause a crash. It also is a concern of being pulled over by any law official for something that I can not control and it’s not like I can just go to a local parts store to get a bulb on a weekend due to a poor design by General Motors. Other trucks of the same year with the same headlights that I have are being recalled due to the same issues but since my build date doesn’t fall into that category they do not want to take the responsibility of making things right or help prevent safety incidents from happening that could cause harm their customers and innocent bystanders

While pulling my Vilano fifth wheel trailer to Alabama from my home state of Texas the driver information center alerted me that the trailer brakes were disconnected. Then a short while later it alerted that trailer brakes were connected. This situation continued for the entire trip to Alabama. When the info center indicated trailer brakes were disconnected, they were indeed not working. Several times I almost rear ended cars stopping in front of me. (The vehicle had a recall notice urging to take it in and replace the brake module shortly after purchasing it. I did this.) Once I arrived in Alabama I took the vehicle to the Chevrolet dealership in Foley, Alabama to check the braking system. They told me there was no problem with the braking system. I retrurned to my home in Little Elm, Texas with the problem occurring the entire trip. I finally made it home and today took the vehicle to James Wood Chevrolet in Denton, Texas to have the braking systme checked again. They told me there was nothing wrong with the braking system. The service writer did say that because the trailer has LED lights the braking system does not recognize the voltage from the trailer and that is why the brakes are disconnecting. Please help me find out how to correct this extremely dangerous condition while I am towing my 16,000 pound fifth wheel trailer.

My business work truck started not shifting properly. I dropped it off at Mirak Chevrolet in Arlington, MA on 4/29/25 and they diagnosed the vehicle needing a valve body part # 24065357. GM/Chevrolet has been unable to source this part and was unable to provide an eta. I immediately contacted GM and my case # is [XXX]. Then it was approved and escalated for a new transmission and same issue unable to source part and no eta. This is my business vehicle that has not been operable since [XXX] due to a manufacturer issue. No fault on my end. This is a brand new vehicle that should not have these type of issues. I have lost revenue, income, jobs, and I don't have a replacement vehicle. I have a loan on this vehicle that I am making payments towards but there is no end in sight. It has been a month with daily calls to GM for an update or for someone to call me back and nothing. I need my work truck back. This has caused extreme financial stress. I need help. While driving the transmission shifted very hard felt like it was going to shatter or lock up this happen twice. It also lacked power due to not shifting properly. It coded for transmission issue. I spoke to 2 different Chevrolet dealers service writers, the 1st did noy have a transmission but told me this was a known issue that the valve body for the transmissions fails and recommended another dealer. The dealer notified transmission valve block failed a known problem with the valve block being on back order due to this issue. The truck know sits at the shop awaiting repair. If the transmission fails or locks up in a 2500 truck, could be towing a trailer like I was, would result in an accident.

Owner from brand new (16 miles) multiple complaints through ownership of harsh shifting, jerky throttle on and off, excessive engine braking, and have been stuck on the side of the road 3x due to the same situation. Never was a code thrown so I was continuously told there’s “nothing wrong.” On [XXX] I was driving [XXX] out of Denver making the climb towards [XXX] to home. As I had my cruise control set at 65, out of nowhere my truck locked up what seemed to be the rear wheels completely, causing my rear end to sway violently. I immediately slowed down and pulled over with no indications or lights being illuminated on my dash. I turned the truck off and let it sit for 10 minutes and restarted it. Having no issues I signaled back onto [XXX] and the truck accelerated to nearly 65 with no issues. As I hit 62 on the dash it again locked up the rear tires. I again pulled over, this time questioning what could be causing this, knowing the first time indeed was what happened. I put my truck into park, and still had no warning lights or check engine light. I then put my truck into neutral and then clicked the auto button thinking maybe something with the rear end is locking my brakes up. Upon doing so I again entered the roadway, big mistake on my part as this time upon reaching 60+mph all 4 tires simultaneously locked up. How I didn’t roll, I have no idea. Easily the scariest set of events I’ve ever faced while driving and that’s considering all of the insane drivers on our roadways today. I literally lodged a complaint with Chevrolet the same day I bought this truck before ever even leaving the dealers lot, and have had zero communication from them other than myself reaching out. They have ignored the problem literally from day one and it easily could’ve cost me or someone else their life. I’m appalled that to date they are still selling these trucks, replacing the valve bodies with the exact same faulty ones, and allowed to put others in danger constantly. The truck went to the dealer for recalls on March 21, 2025. The Truck is still within the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Recalls consisted of tailgate fix, TCM & ECM updates. The truck was returned to me approximately a week later. I noticed a significant loss of power. I took the truck back to the dealer and told them about the issue. They had it another 2 days and returned it to me, saying there was nothing wrong. Approximately a week later, I was driving down the road and the check engine light appeared on the gauge cluster. I immediately drove the truck to the dealer, and the DTCs were emissions-related. The service advisor, Jeff, told me to keep driving the truck, and it might go away. I drove the truck home, 20 mins away from the dealer, and as I pulled into my driveway, a message on the gauge cluster said, "Add engine oil." I notified the Dealer of the issue immediately. The next morning, I added a gallon of oil, and there were still no signs of oil on the dipstick. At that time, I noticed there was no coolant in the reservoir, but engine oil residue, and a collapsed upper radiator hose. The truck was towed to the dealer later that day. After inspection, the dealer said the oil cooler had failed. They sent me the service bulletin, but that bulletin only says, "oil and coolant mix," nothing about the disappearance of the fluid, and no explanation of the emissions codes. The dealer and GM's corporate office are refusing the share the diagnostic data on how they have concluded that the oil cooler has failed. Their solution is to replace the oil cooler and see what happens. This truck has 1000 miles left on the warranty, and the parts/procedures expire at the end of the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Recap: GM will not share diagnostic data, and they are refusing to extend coverage, yet their remedy is to experiment with my $70,000 truck, and the moment this truck is out of warranty, they are going to wash their hands of it. That is not acceptable.

Brake pad failure, at 22,000 miles brake pads are almost worn out and leave extreme amounts of brake dust on wheels. This issue has been happening since 500 miles. Was told by dealer that it's a cheaper pad that the manufacture uses and the wear is normal. Steering wheel shakes when brakes are applied and when you're pulling a load the vehicle starts vibrating and jumping. Now rotors are warped due to the faulty pads wearing out so soon. Dealer and GM refuses to fix it, dealer says it's not covered and not a safety issue and GM has no explanation for their rejection the claim.

While towing our 25ft travel trailer, I began getting warning from the trailer brake controller which repeatedly disconnected and, thankfully reconnected them after a brief interval. Luckily, the times when I had no trailer brakes did not require rapid stops. That said, towing a 7000 # trailer thru the mountains in a driving rain storm with no brakes randomly caused a bit of concern. After researching this I find this is a known defect and has TSB’s and voluntary recalls in place. (TSB 23-NA-149 and N232414840 respectively) However I was never notified by GM as my VIN was not included in the above. We could have been seriously injured or worse. This tsb is almost 2 years old. Why were we not informed/included? Our issue is identical to the tsb.

I went leave 20 min. later and the transmission died completely. It would not go forward or reverse.

My trailer brake controller routinely does not allow me to adjust the brake gain. Multiple times (and on recorded video), I’ve had instances where I could not increase gain while hauling heavy loads in the trailer and this has caused me to lose my ability to stop the vehicle effectively. This has nearly cause accidents a few times while hauling on the interstate, and down my mountain road. The driver must be able to adjust trailer gain at any point while operating the vehicle. This issue has happened with multiple trailers. I’ve taken the vehicle in multiple times and had the brake controller components replaced but this issue still exists and the dealerships are unable to resolve. I was informed I have trailer issues even though this only occurs in this vehicle while towing and not other vehicles pulling the trailers. This is a major safety issue and will cause an accident if it isn’t resolved. My only option at this point is to purchase an aftermarket brake controller as my factory brake controller is unsafe. I have multiple videos of this issue and nearly had the trailer push me over my mountain from the issue. This issue has happened since I purchased the vehicle and continues to happen. There are multiple service records which show I requested the brake controller to be fixed. This isn’t a one time date or speed. I’m unable to upload videos I’ve taken on my phone but I can send them in. Reach out to [XXX] for videos. The manufacturer and service centers aren’t helping resolve this. Purchased a new 2024 Chevy 2500HD (Custom, 6.6L gas) on 12/14/2024. After doing some research on maintenance items for this vehicle, I observed the following: Rear axle - Little over a quart low Front axle - a little over .5inches low It was determined these fluids were not filled to the proper level from the manufacture. The dealership and extended warranty company (provide by the dealer) refused to warranty these issues.

Truck would downshift hard coming of exit or slowing down. This would sometimes lunge you forward into the seatbelt causing it to catch. The transmission would also shift hard moving up to interstate speed between 50-60mph. The dealership has determined that the valve body has failed in the transmission.

I bought a new 2024 HD2500 with the 10 speed Allison. My truck is 1.5 years old with 8,900 miles on it. About 50% of its life I tow a 5,000 lb travel trailer. My Valve Module went out on it. The truck went into "limp" mode. Would run (very noisy) but would not move in either gear. Its been disabled at the Chevy dealer for 9 WEEKS. No ETA on a part. The internet is loaded with issues related to the 10 speed transmission being distributed by Chevy. Action by the NHTSA recommended. I live in a small town. There were 2 of the same trucks brought in a couple days ahead of mine and 8 more after my truck. ALL with the same problem. 2024 model year. The service manager at the dealer where I bought my truck at ( a larger town) told me there were TOO MANY of these failures for him to count. I'm dealing with GM. [XXX] customer service. And I filed a claim with the BBB Auto Line to go to arbitration with GM to hopefully get a Buy Back or a Replacement. I crossed over the west bound lanes and turned left in the east bound lanes and under slight acceleration when my truck started jerking as if i was braking/accelerating back and forth. My diesel engine then went into limp mode and my transmission was stuck in a low gear and would not shift. I could only drive approximately 20 mph at 3000rpm. The people coming up behind me had to slow down because i couldn't pull over.

This vehicle has a severe transmission shift issue that will likely cause an accident at some point. This vehicle has an Allison 10 speed transmission and began shifting extremely hard or violently from 7th to 8th gear in November of 2023. This problem began when pulling a travel trailer that is weight rated well below the capacity of this truck. This hard shift causes vehicle occupants to lunge during the event and it is feared that a catastrophic failure will occur, resulting in a vehicle accident. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where purchased as it is still under manufacturer’s warranty, and in March of 2024 the dealership performed a software update and transmission “re-learn” which solved the issue until the truck was used to pull a travel trailer again. The issue returned in November of 2024. The truck was returned to the dealership for follow up but the dealership has not taken any further action to resolve the problem at this time. There is a service bulletin (N242467600) issued from GM that seems related to this vehicle but I’ve received no notification that this vehicle is eligible for transmission replacement under this service bulletin. This issue will likely result in a personal injury or vehicle accident at some point.

steering wheel has excessive play. i have had it looked at by two different dealerships and they are trying to convince me that this is normal. there is about 1 inch of dead band in the straight-ahead position. the dead band movement of the steering wheel shaft does not move the pitman arm at all. the last time i took it to the dealership i asked if they could check the over center preload on the steering gear. they said they checked it and it could not be tightened any further without causing secondary problems. I do not believe they performed the actual adjustment as it would have required the steering gear to be removed and adjusted on the bench. the free play results in delayed corrections in correcting for lane drift. i have driven similar trucks and there is very little if any free play. this issue has been present since new.
