On 6/4/2025 while driving my truck, I noticed smoke coming out of vents of the front passenger side of vehicle. I got out of truck and went to open passenger door to investigate and the engine ignited. A neighbor called 911 and the local fire department responded. I contacted my insurance company. They had the truck towed so their investigators could examine it. The cause was classified as indeterminate and the truck was declared a total loss. The truck had approximately 51,000 miles at the time of the incident and was well maintained, with new tires and no known mechanical issues or warning lights prior to the fire. The fire occurred while driving on a road seven miles from my home.

While driving "No Oil pressure" alarm went off on my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. I had to immediately pull off to the side of the road, upon inspection the Oil cooler line separated at the crimp joint. This is the exact failure mode as described in "N212326940 - Customer Satisfaction Engine Oil Cooler Lines Detaching from Crimp". I have my truck at a GM dealership and they said my VIN is not included on the TSB. I also contacted GM Customer Service and was told the same that my VIN was not effected by this issue. My failure is the same mode as the documented issue, it has to be related to part quality issue as described on N212326940. The GM dealership is charging me $2000 to replace the line.

The vehicle, 2019 Silverado with 6.2 Liter engine only has 72,000 miles on it and when I was driving it, it slowed and went into a limp type mode. I could not go to speed. I had the vehicle towed to a Chevrolet Dealership, they indicated that the Camshaft is broken, at least one lifter and rod is bad. It is less expensive to replace engine. After research it appears this is a known issue and the manufacturer is not addressing it.

The valve body for the transmission failed. While driving the vehicle transmission would shift violently. This would cause the truck to jerk forward a few times before engaging the next gear. At times it caused a slowed performance and could have caused an accident with another motor vehicle especially when traveling uphill. I brought the truck to a chevrolet dealership and they confirmed this issue. I also completed online forum and general searches through google which confirm this is an issue especially with the 4 cylinder and v6 engines. The check engine light came on when the issue first occurred. The issue happened a week after my catalytic converter was replaced under warranty in July 2025.

Passenger side lifters have failed, along with camshaft. The induced misfire caused a sudden and potentially unsafe jerking of the vehicle while on the expressway. The vehicle was on cruise control and running at 1,400rpms at the time of the failure. There were zero warning lights or vibrations/noises that could have indicated an imminent failure. Thankfully I was alone on the expressway at the time of the incident as the vehicle started bucking, jerking me out of my lane until I could regain control. Vehicle had 105,500 miles with all engine maintenance up to date prior to incident. Speed limit on this section of US31 is 75mph.

GM says my Vin was not part of the recalls, The Vin wasn't the problem,It was the Transmission!!! letter I sent to GM : Transmission Failure on 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Dear General Motors Customer Assistance, I am writing to formally express my concern regarding the complete failure of the 8L90 transmission in my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT. I have been a loyal Chevrolet customer and have always trusted GM vehicles for their reliability and performance. However, the recent catastrophic failure of my transmission—resulting in both internal and external damage—has left me extremely disappointed and financially burdened. This vehicle, equipped with the 8-speed 8L90 transmission, began exhibiting harsh shifting, delayed acceleration, and shuddering well before the failure. Despite regular maintenance and proper care, the transmission ultimately failed and "blew up" both internally and externally, rendering the vehicle undrivable and in need of complete transmission replacement. Upon further research, I discovered that numerous owners of 2015–2019 GM vehicles with the 8L90 transmission have reported similar issues, and multiple class-action lawsuits have been filed citing systemic defects in this transmission design. Though no recall has been officially issued, the volume of complaints and the existence of internal Technical Service Bulletins (such as TSB 16-NA-019) suggest GM is aware of the ongoing problems associated with this transmission. Given these circumstances, I am requesting that General Motors stand behind its product and assist with the full cost of replacing the failed transmission. I am prepared to provide documentation including service records, a technician’s report on the failure, and photos of the damage if needed. Please let me know how GM intends to proceed with this request. I would appreciate a prompt and fair resolution to this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] VIN # [XXX] Current Mileage: 114850 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 55

The vehicle was being driven to work when the engine lost power and several warning lights started cycling. The vehicle started shaking badly. The truck had 62,735 miles and was regularly serviced. We took it to Christian Brothers Automotive in Lubbock, TX. where they were able to find that that lifters failed causing $7,000.00 in damage. The shop that made the repairs said it is a common and known issue.

On 7/2/25, I was driving my 2019 Chevy Silverado on the highway and felt like there was a slight loss of power. I then noticed the Service parking brake, service ESC and the check engine light came on. I was going up a hill and had to move over to the far right lane and drive very slowly on the highway because of the engine problem. I was able to get off the highway without incident. I immediately took the truck to the Chevrolet dealer where I purchased it since it was very close. The dealership later inspected the truck and found the lifters had seized and caused damage to the camshaft. They said I would need a new engine at a cost of around $15,000. There were no warning signs or problems to indicate I was going to have an engine failure. The instrument warning lights came on when the engine problem occurred.

I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT and I am having issues with the transmission bucking, hesitating, slipping. I am also having issues with the variable timing system. The variable timing system started acting up last year and when I took it to the dealer they replaced it and I was charged over $400 for it to be repaired. It happened again the beginning of this year and I took it back to the dealer. They told me the oil was dirty and suggested an oil change to fix the issue. I had the oil change done and now I am having the same problem again and have already had the oil changed. I need help since I am paying for a vehicle that is sitting in my driveway not being able to be used. There are 6 codes that have popped up including the variable timing system, cylinder 4 misfire, brake system, and I'm not exactly sure what the other ones are.

I am experiencing the exact details of N192272400 Rear Wheels Lock At Low Speed but for some reason my VIN isn’t associated with the recall! This is highly dangerous. It could cause a serious accident seen that I live on a main road. I don’t know where the vehicle locks up the rear brakes if I go over 5 miles an hour at random times. I believe 100% that it is exactly what is described in that recall which is a defective TCM that has a short circuit. Another issue that I have with his truck out of nowhere is a short circuit in my rear defroster that was sparking and smoking when I used it.

Bought my truck with 29,000 miles on it. Was making a noise in rear tire. Took it in and it was the break calilper. Dealership wanted $1500 to replace it a week after I bought it. Stated that it was not covered. After a week of arguing, they did not charge me for it. Around 40,000 miles, every once in a while, it would feel like I was being rear ended when I came to a stop. It was not often, but around 55,000 miles, was more frequent. I took it to the dealershp at 62,000 miles and they said that it was a torque converter and would not be covered. Fixed it at a shop $2700. Lifter and Cam in the UP of michigan $5000. Oil lines at 110,000 $700. Torque converter again at 130000, and now lifter and camshaft again at 145,000 miles. I feel that GM should back their product. I had a 95 Chevy Silverado that I sold with 360,000 miles and never had any issues except fot transmission at 250,000 which is expected. I have all receipts showing proof

I was driving the truck when the EPB, service engine, stabilitrac, ECBM warning lights came on, also driving over 43 miles an hour could cause a crash due brake failure This caused the emissions. transmission, & throttle to shut down Truck would not shift out of low gear. I got sick and was in the hospital for 5 weeks, the truck was vandalized. The body repair shop took it to the chevrolet dealership in long beach to have it inspected. I did not tell them the vehicle had malfunctioned, throwing code U0101 and another code. I wanted the dealer to find the problem, the truck had not been driven since it was parked from the malfunction. All they came back with was I had a burnt cylinder and would be 9000 to fix due to maintenance, we maintained this truck changing the oil every 3000 miles with Castoroil synthetic oil, regularly checking and maintaining transmission, brake , all-fluids. Supposedly they ran a diagnostic, if they did they would have found these warnings and that main code U0101 would have showed up. When it happened Onstar ran the diagnostic and told me to take it immediately to a dealership. That dash should have lit up like a christmas tree that’s how many light were going off. The dealership never said a thing about these lights. Now i’ve read where Chevy had a problem with the EPB and only put them on this model from 2019 to 2022 because of this. On [XXX] I was driving in Beloit WI. Luckily I was in town and only doing 30-35mph and not another mile because I was headed for the interstate and we all would have died, because all of the sudden my parking brake locked on, my check engine light, ABS light, traction control light all came on and gray smoke just started pouring out my exhaust. Had it towed to my usual mechanic, it had 38 different codes on it, he worked on it for 8 hours and said it needed to go to a dealership. Towed it to a dealership, lifter on cylinder 5 went out and I was told "Yes camshaft is destroyed on that cylinder.. just need one. But tech would pull engine out and pull apart… or replace engine as does not include the fact that oil pump the timing chain the timing chain tensioner, the rod bearing the main bearings, and most importantly the camshaft bearings are still gonna be old and original to your engine. If you replaced just a camshaft. So later on down the road, something there could fail and more than likely the oil pump but again it’s just more money and more what else but if you are going to commit to that then you probably should commit to timing, chain, and oil pump, and everything else in which case now you start adding all the prices of that components in with labor on top of it, and an engine in my opinion would probably be better" and the engine comes with 100k mile warranty. So there's that. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6

While exiting the highway from 70MPH my truck quit running on the exit ramp as I approached the end of the ramp. The truck would not restart and blocked traffic until I was able to get a tow truck. After the truck was towed back to my home I was able to scan the truck and found P129F code reporting (Fuel Pump Driver Control Module Fuel Pump Speed Signal Incorrect) (see attached report). Only after purchasing a Fuel Pump Driver Control Module from the dealer (P/N) 13565641 (replacement for the original 13531875 P/N) and installing it would the truck start. This was a real safety concern as other driver were also exiting the highway at speed while my truck was blocking a lane. The fuel pump control modules should be designed in "fail safe" way to allow the fuel pump to continue even if it isn't running at the most optimal level.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The 8-speed automatic transmission is experiencing a persistent shudder during normal driving conditions. The problem appears to stem from a failing torque converter and possibly the valve body, as diagnosed by a GM dealership. The dealership also found metal debris in the transmission fluid, indicating internal damage. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The transmission shudder causes the vehicle to hesitate and lurch unexpectedly, especially during acceleration or gear shifts at highway speeds. This creates unpredictable vehicle behavior that could result in a loss of control, especially when merging, changing lanes, or driving in heavy traffic. It presents a significant safety concern for both the driver and others on the road. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a GM dealership. They recommended replacing the torque converter and valve body due to internal damage and fluid contamination. Sliding rear window leaks in 3 spots. Leak poses the safety risk of mold growth inside the vehicle along with the potential of water getting inside of electrical components and air bag device compartments. The problem was reproduced and confirmed at the dealership, to which the plastic seal at the top of the rear window was confirmed to have failed in 3 locations. Dealership recommended replacing the entire back window and assembly with what they believe to be the same window assembly that failed. The only inspection completed on the vehicle to date has been the dealership GM certified technicians. Musty smell after rain and observed staining on the headliner is when the issue was first identified.

Since I have owned this vehicle I have experienced erratic shifting, primarily when driving in traffic, and when the vehicle is downshifting to 1st or 2nd gear. It has occasionally occurred when traveling on the highway during an upshift, but this is rare. I have also experienced lurching when stopped, or creeping forward in anticipation of a turn. I can occur at any time, and under any type of conditions, hot or cold. It also has a tendency to shift harshly when shifting from park to reverse or from reverse to drive. I have expressed my concerns with my dealer, and it appears they are aware of the problem, and have told me that GM is also aware of the issue, but they dismiss it by way of saying it is normal. I have had the transmission fluid changed at the regular interval, but this has not cured the problem. Finally, GM is well aware of this issue, and is subject to class action lawsuit regarding these transmissions, and other owners have stated that they too have experienced this shifting issue. My concern is that this will eventually lead to a failure of the transmission and the drive components i.e., drive shaft, pinon gear, differential housing, anything connected to the transmission. If this failure occurs at highway speeds, a possible loss of control and crash could occur.

The Wheel Bearing Bolts came loose and began to fall out. One rubbed against the clamp for the axle boot. The driver was alerted to an issue due to a whining noise from the wheel. Unclear if this noise came from the wheel bearing failing due to misalignment caused by added stress on the single remaining bolt or the rubbing of one of the bolts against the axle. Visual inspection showed one of the bolts had almost completely fallen out. Car was towed to a repair shop and wheel bearings and bolts were replaced.

I was driving on I85 North north of Atlanta merging off of I285 East in the second to the left hand lane when a light came on the dash saying "low oil pressure". I looked at the oil pressure gauge and it was at zero and there was black smoke from the back of the vehicle from oil hitting the exhaust. There was absolutely no indication of any issue at any time. I was able to coast into the emergency lane and get it shut off. Had I not been able to get pulled off the side of the road, it could have been disastrous as the vehicle had no power and I could have easily lost control and caused a multi vehicle accident. I had the vehicle towed to the closest Chevy dealership and have been informed that the oil cooler line completely separated and will cost $1,400.00 to repair. After receiving the diagnosis, I did a quick Google search and found that this is a fairly common issue, specifically with 2019 5.3L Chevy Silverados and should be, in my opinion, a safety recall.

Oil coolant line detached from the crimp. GM customer satisfaction program N212326940 is exactly what has happened and GM states it is not associated to my VIN so they can't (won't) do anything about it, even though the bulletin clearly indicates 2019 Silverado 1500 (new model). This occured as I was on the interstate. I pulled over as soon as the warning came up telling me to turn the vehicle off. I had to wait on the side of the interstate for several hours for a tow to a local mechanic shop. The mechanic diagnosed the issue and took photos and described the issue in writing. Prior to the incident there was no vehicle warning light that there was an issue, nor did I receive a letter warning of the issue. This catastrophic failure of the coolant line ejected oil, coating the undercarriage and passenger running board. The program bulletin states: Condition: Certain 2019 model year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (New Model) and GMC Sierra 1500 (New Model) vehicles, may have a condition in which the engine oil cooler (EOC) lines may leak and detach from the crimp joints. Exposure to cold temperature may also aggravate this condition. If the EOC lines leak, there may be an oil leak on the ground and if the EOC lines detach while operating the vehicle, there will be an immediate decrease in oil pressure. This will coincide with a warning on the driver information center display (“Oil Pressure Low Turn Vehicle Off”), along with warning chimes. If the customer continues to operate the vehicle, a loss of propulsion is possible. Correction: Dealers are to replace the engine oil cooler lines, oil, oil filter and refill the coolant.

I am writing to express my concern regarding a serious issue with my 2019 Chevy Silverado. Recently, while driving on the highway, I experienced a sudden loss of power. After diagnosing the issue, I was informed that my engine now requires a full replacement. This comes shortly after I had the camshaft replaced. My truck has only 80,000+ miles on it, which I believe is well below what should be expected for such a major failure. I have maintained the vehicle according to recommended service schedules and was surprised by this issue. Chevy has quoted me approximately $15,000 for the engine replacement, which is an extraordinary expense given the mileage and service history of the vehicle. I am seeking assistance in resolving this matter, as I believe this type of failure should not occur under normal conditions with such low mileage. Please let me know what steps can be taken or if there is any warranty or goodwill support available. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

I was passing a line of vehicles when a semi started over into my lane. I hit the gas, to avoid being hit by the truck. When I did warning light on my vehicle appeared on the display. I lost speed and immediately heard a loud knocking from the engine. I was on an open 4 lane highway and knew there was a dealer close by. I drove to the dealership, I left the vehicle running so they could hear it. The service tech told me they had seen "several" vehicles in with the same problem with the 5.3L . I left the vehicle there and was given a loaner. They told me the lifter had gone bad when I sped up quickly, and the camshaft was damaged. Further research by me has discovered a lot of vehicles have this same issue due to the active fuel management system. I chose not to pay Chevrolet $7000 to fix the engine, and currently have it in a private shop being repaired. A less experienced driver may have slammed on the brakes or swerved and caused a major accident. My vehicle did slow down on its own, but I was able to keep control and safely maneuver to the right lane.

Vehicle has been maintained perfectly with full records. 99, 300 miles. Vehicle suddenly lost power at 55 mph, loud noise from the engine compartment. Immediately stopped and had the vehicle towed to the Chevrolet dealership. Diagnosed with DOD failure, required complete engine replacement. Explicitly told by this dealership and four others that I called for comparison price, stated that this is a known weakness, a known “defect” for years. It does seem very criminal to me that neither you nor GM/Chevrolet has not taken action on this known and very public issue. My cost was just over $13,000 +2 weeks rental $900, plus $300 towing.

GM 5.3 Liter V8 engines are known to have lifters lock up and bend push rods or destroy the camshaft resulting in engine replacement or rebuild. GM's fix is to replace the badly designed lifters with the exact same ones hoping that they will last past the warranty period thereby putting the entire cost of replacement on the owners. GM is well aware of the lifter issue but denies any responsibility. A simple google of 5.3 lifter failure will show thousands of complaints and experiences from various auto boards/pages. My Lifters went out while doing 75mph on the highways resulting in immediate slowdown with cars having to swerve to avoid hitting me while i pulled over to the side.

In 2022 we experienced harsh shifting between gears and had dealership assess and they flushed the transmission. We were told other than that there is no remedy. The problem still persisted occasionally. Recently while driving the EPC light and check engine appeared as well as engine shacking and jerking. We’re broke down on side of busy highway. Getting it back into dealership preliminary testing is that there is engine misfire and transmission. Frustration that GM is in class action lawsuit for transmission issues and that we had it inspected before with being told nothing more can be done. Vehicle is currently in shop being diagnosed for repairs.

Last year the right parking brake was sticking and our service parking brake light kept coming on. We found out that it ate our back right brake so both needed to be replaced. I noticed that their is a recall for my exact vehicle but my VIN # is not included in the recall. I would like to be included in this recall. I own a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with a 6.2 liter L87 engine that is currently part of class action lawsuits. While driving down the highway with a car full of passengers at around 75-80mph, the vehicle shut down and would not accelerate. Frantically from the left lane, I crossed traffic almost causing an accident multiple times, to the shoulder of the highway. I then called for a tow truck to tow the vehicle as it would not start. The vehicle was towed three hours later, to the dealer (Quirk Chevrolet) and I walked off of the highway with the group of people. We then ubered home. The dealer diagnosed some mechanical issues that they said were the issue and “repaired” the vehicle. I picked the vehicle up three days later. Three weeks after that I was driving down the highway at about the same speed, 75-80mph, and my vehicle shut off again and was unresponsive. I had to then cut across three lanes of traffic frantically again and I coasted off of the highway due to an off ramp being right there and me acting quickly. The vehicle was unable to start for about 20 minutes and when I finally got it started it was making a loud audible knocking noise. I shut it down and called for a tow truck to the same dealer I had it serviced at a few week prior. I got a call the following day stating my vehicle needed an engine replacement and that I was most likely going to have to wait four months or more for it. They stated that they did not have any loaner vehicles available for me due to four other 6.2L engines needing replacement and if they had any available in the coming months, they would all be midsize SUVs. They stated that there was nothing they could due to get me a truck and only a midsize was offered which would not be any time soon anyways. I called three other Chevy dealers in the area and they stated that they all had between 3-5 seized 6.2L engines in the shop. There were no warning signs prior to this happening minus the repairs stated above and maybe a tic

I was driving on the hwy at 70mph when the engine had a catastrophic failure. Several warning lights appeared on the dash, loud metal clunking noises, vibration, and sudden slowing down of vehicle. I immediately pulled to side of road, turned truck off and called local dealership. Upon their inspection, they notified me a lifter bearing failed that would cause engine to seize and would require a new engine.

In 2024, I had the transmission replaced due it leaking transmission fluid. The transmission is sealed and there is no way to add fluid. This created an internal problem for the transmission. In January 2025, the engine made a loud pop noise and began performing horribly. My wife and I were on the interstate in a major city and surrounded by traffic. I drove it to the side of the interstate, immediately, and turned it off. I had to call someone to tow me back home(2 hours away) and my wife missed a very important doctor's appointment. Upon inspection, I found failed valve lifters, camshaft, pushrod and valve lifter tray. I managed to get everything replaced and the truck ran fine. March 2025, as I was driving on the highway, the truck stopped running. A message came on the dash screen saying, "Shift to Neutral and restart". I did and nothing happened. I had it towed to a shop. They told me it was a fuse block that was blown and the starter blew so they replaced them. It had struggled to start a couple of times and since I knew it had a new battery, a starter and fuse block made sense. I picked the truck up and in less than 24 hours, it happened again. It stopped running as I was driving and would not restart. The shop has checked GM tech forums and found where someone said to check if the motor would turn over manually. They have tried and failed. They, then, took the oil filter off and found metal shavings in the oil. Their diagnosis is that the engine bearing has seized and is causing the problems. My main issue is safety. My wife and I could have been seriously injured or killed and could have injured or killed someone else when the incident happened on the interstate. The same could've happened with just me in the vehicle or with our children. There were no warning lamps, messages or any symptoms whatsoever before January 2025 for the engine. The truck doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it and I have kept up all of the maintenance.

Right after our warranty expired which was 36,000, the transmission started harsh or rough shifting , delayed acceleration, sudden lurching, and shuddering , hesitating to the point that you don’t think the truck is going to move or someone hit us from behind. It’s horrible. Every time you drive you pray the truck is going to get you there safely. We tried to take the truck to the Chevrolet dealer and they insisted there was no recall and it was no longer under warranty. Then we took to a private place and had transmission fluid flushed which made it worse. We are waiting patiently for a recall because we can’t afford a transmission.

Driving on [XXX] going 75mph near Columbus Ohio and saw white smoke coming out of the back end of my truck, then looked at dash and low oil pressure light and shut engine off warning lights were on. The engine was knocking and barely able to keep idling. I pulled to the berm then looked for nearest service station I could get to. I got off highway at next exit and put 4 quarts of oil in and drove to dealership just across the street and had mechanic look at truck. Upon inspection the mechanic determined that the oil coolant line had detached and there was no crimp on the hose. The engine had catastrophic failure. It is currently at dealership and they are ordering and installing new engine at a cost of $10,100.00 to us. This problem is a known defect to GM as it was first reported in January 2020. There was a recall in Alaska and Canada but not to the lower 48 states. The recall and numerous consumer complaints state that the hose crimp fails allowing the hose to separate and leak all engine oil which will cause engine damage. I come from a loyal GM family and have driven GM trucks and cars for 30 plus years but question the integrity and reliability of the brand now. I’ve seen complaints for this issue across the board of all different mileages. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While traveling on the highway, engine started smoking and received warning of low oil pressure and to turn off the engine immediately. After mechanics investigated it was found that the oil cooling line had become uncrimped and fully detached resulting in low oil pressure and oil spraying out/ full draining. After researching this problem I found a NHTSA bulletin of a GM customer satisfaction program N212326940 where GM identified other VINs of the exact same year make and model having this issue. My vin was not included in this program and it is clear that GM underrepresented the number of vehicles that were affected. I was traveling at approximately 55mph at the time and this could have caused a serious accident due to GMs failure to identify all vehicles with this issue.

A few months ago the main oil cooling hose broke while I was on the freeway at 65 mph. I lost power to the vehicle and prompted to shift to neutral and to shut vehicle off. I did, after exiting the vehicle, I noticed all engine oil had been exited from motor. I thought the worst, new motor... Dwayne Lanes in Arlington had told me everything was fine, the had inspected the pan and looked to be no damage. Fast forward to last week, same issue repeats, minus the oil. Lost power on a 2 laned back road, extremely nerve racking! Now the dealership says I have metal debris in my oil, and a replacement is required. This is referenced as uncommon, but how could that be if there is a national shortage on the DFM/6.2L L87 V8. Purchased this vehicle with 18,000 miles, 2021. 2025 has 56,000 miles. I drive less than 9,000 per year. GM knows there is an issues, this is extremely dangerous and costly for the consumer. Hope DOGE looks in to this

I was driving down the interstate stuck in slow moving traffic going 55 in a 70 in Jacksonville, FL. The Chevy suddenly lit up like a dang Christmas tree, parking brake service, check engine light, lane assist, and EVAC all flashing on the screen. Everytime I hit clear it like a new warning popped up. It started to drive super rough as in bumpy, loud and hesitant. I parked it, turned it off. Waited maybe an hour since I went to class, then came back to start it. Issue was still there. I took it to the dealership who seemed more interested in buying it than repairing it, they said it could be a number of things and estimated 10k even though they couldn’t tell me exactly what was wrong. They knew, they just wouldn’t say. Anywho, $100 later for a wacky diagnosis, I left to take the truck to an actual mechanic, who stated the lifters failed which caused a bent rod, which then damaged the cam shaft. We had just bought the truck outright for 27k three months prior and only driven it 1,500 miles. It was estimated to be anywhere between 12-15k to fix. Which we didn’t have that money and personal loans are too high so we traded it in and took a loss of 17k while being thankful that no one was injured driving this thing. The truck didn’t even have 80,000 miles yet. It was at 75,000 or 76,000. Truck engines shouldn’t fail that soon or fail at all and this is a common safety issue with this truck. If you have time, google the main issues for this truck and you’ll see several posts about people complaining about their truck doing the same and having to do a computer deletion to get the engine to function correctly to prevent this issue.

Was at a red light after a very short drive, as soon as the light turned green I let off break hit gas and felt a huge kick that felt as if I was rear ended. I let off the gas and another big kick happened. Check engine light came on and dashboard read “Service ECS and Service parking break”. Truck would not accelerate and I was stuck in the middle of a very busy intersection. Turned truck off turned back on and it allowed me to at least accelerate and get out of the intersection but the truck was revving at high RPMs and not going faster than 20mph. I’m assuming truck went into limp mode. Got truck to mechanic where they said all the codes were TRANSMISSION CODES. Truck was then towed to Monterey transmissions in Stuart, FL where they stated it was confirmed a new transmission would be need. They explained that there is a recall for 462 thousand 2019 chevy Silverado 1500s. But my VIN is not associated with this claim. Why? When I have the same valve body that has been religiously failing on all other 2019 Chevy Silverado’s. All this occurred on [XXX]. Vehicle will be available for inspection as it is undriveable. This truck has very low miles (22,900) and has broken down on me 4 different times over several years. It will randomly slam into 2nd gear and I will almost loose control as the rear wheels will almost lock up. Then the vehicle will barely move even at WOT. This has caused me to almost be in accidents and is very unsafe. GM knows there is several issues with this 8 speed transmission and cannot resolve it. I am afraid to be in an accident because this thing is so unreliable in it's operation. GM needs to be forced to address this issue. There are multiple TSBs on this transmission that claim to be collecting data and investigating the cause of issues dating back to 2020. Time for a repair!

I have been reading numerous other reviews online that they are experiencing the same issue. 2nd problem is when I bought the vehicle I noticed numerous oil spots on the tailgate, I asked a GM representative & they said it was road grime, but I noticed the rear pinon is leaking, so it's been leaking since I bought the truck & the dealership either doesn't know it's a known issue or they didn't want to come out & say it.

The valves, pistons, head gaskets are all affected and malfunctioned. They caused burning of the oil and loss of coolant. I took it to the sister dealership of where I purchased it to track the leak and they stated that it was fixed. Upon picking it up and driving it to my home and then right back to the dealership (apprx 12 miles) the truck was making big enought plumes to where it was making other operators pull over or cough. I was following behind the truck to video record and it was producing so much I could not see and had to close my vents to not cough. Our oil said 65 % but decided to check it and there was barely any oil present. Had it towed to the dealership and after picking it up it was only worse than before. This is a safety issue. An emissions issue also. Thank you.

Traveling on the highway at 70 mph the rear wheels (brakes) locked up nearly causing a collision. I found a couple of recalls notices for 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500, but nothing posted for 2019 Chevy Silverado. The vehicle was taken immediately to the dealership for evaluation and repair. The tow/haul mode light blinked on and then off. At no time was the tow haul mode manually engaged. My understanding is the vehicle’s Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) software could have an error that should be covered under a recall. Upon inspection and repair the dealership found codes for the brake system control module lost communication with multiple modules and found low voltage codes. They replaced the battery and updated the BSCM. I believe Chevrolet should extend the recall to 2019 models and hopefully this report will cause action to be taken and prevent accidents in the future.

My DIC showed a message of Shift to Park. This has prevented me from turning my truck off. I have been stranded on a couple of occasions until finally I was able to push the Stop/Start button to turn my truck off. Also has prevented me from locking my truck at times. The fact that I can't turn my truck is a real safety problem and also creates the possibility of it rolling down hill. Being stranded is the worst part and if I can't turn my truck off at some point the battery is going to go dead. There are several bulletins out on at least 5-6 GM cars with this problem - #19-NA-206 and 04-00-89-053 from engineering. I finally to feel safe I had to go to my local Chevy store and get it fixed costing me 563.24 plus tax. I need to be reimbursed for this as GM has been aware of this problem since 2018.

While driving on the highway with my four year old with me the truck jerked and then triggered 3 lights on my dashboard, this made getting to a safe spot uneasy as it was jerking and sounded like it was reving up and down and overall sounded not good. Truck was towed to mechanic and was discovered the lifter failed due to the Active Fuel Management (AFM) or Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) in that engine model. That failure caused further engine damage to the cam shaft and needs an entire rebuild of the top part of the engine. There were no other indicators that this would happen until it did. I contacted Chevy and they are aware of the situation and offered "cost assistance" only if it was brought to a GM dealership. Given the engine had to be taken apart to figure out what was wrong they said the only way to get assistance was to have the garage put it back together and then tow it there and have their mechanics look at it to determine if they could cover part of it. This isn't a viable option to me seeing how there isn't a guarantee of any assistance and would potentially cost more long term.

The oil cooler line on this vehicle is faulty- they Crimp that crimps the hose to the metal parts breaks off. This is common in this vehicle (after it happened to me, I started to read on this and thousands of customers have had this issue). My oil exited my vehicle and upon replacing the part on my own (after towing, parts and labor cost), the engine would not crank. Come to find out that the engine seized up (locked). GMC/CHEVROLET is not taking any responsibility for this. There is a customer satisfaction program for this as it is a known issue as stated, specially in the colder parts but apparently my VIN did not get affected by this. This needs to be looked at as it very costly for a customer.

Even when my truck had to be towed into the dealership the check engine light never came on. My complaint is regarding faulty oil lines that are known to be defective by GM/Chevy. The oil lines begin to leak in colder weather and according to discussion boards, have even been known to come off completely while at speed and purging all of the oil from the vehicle. This can result in the almost immediate seizure of the engine and loss of control of the vehicle.  GM/Chevy acknowledges there is a problem with these oil lines by their creation of a Customer Satisfaction Hotline around 2021 instead of doing a full recall. My 2019 chevy silverado 1500 is experiencing the exact same issues with the oil lines as stated by hundreds of other customers. I have contacted both GM and my local dealership and have been turned away advising my 2019 Silverado was not part of the right "build number" associated with the special coverage that they voluntarily created to avoid the full recall of all 2019 and possibly more model years with defective and dangerous oil lines. As reported previously, the oil lines are likely to begin to fail in colder weather which could make for more dangerous conditions should they fail completely and come off of the engine. Although GM states my vehicle is not part of the conditional coverage, my lines began to fail a few weeks ago as my temps dropped well below freezing.

My 2019 Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.3 V8 developed a "tick" in the engine. The truck has 93,000 miles. Subsequently, the check engine light came on. I scheduled an appointment at David Stanley Chevrolet on the south side of Oklahoma City to have it checked. I explained what the issue was in detail because I have a back ground in engine repair. Also, I'd performed research on line looking for "technical service bulletins. What I found was a history of issues with this engine, (5.3), involving lifters sticking. I informed the young lady of what I'd found. I was called the next day and told that the technician could not "replicate" the issue and I could pick up my vehicular. Less than half a mile from the dealer, I tried to merge onto [XXX] when the engine began to shutter and miss. Thank God, I was able to avoid a rear end collation. I immediately returned to the dealer where the the problem was identified as a "stuck #1 lifter resulting in significant damage to the cam. I have subsequently had this vehicle back to the dealer three additional times trying to repair oil leaks resulting from these repairs. The engine at 108,000 had a lifter that failed. There were no prior warning signs before this happened. This caused the engine to lose power. As a result of the lifter failing this caused other internal damage to the engine. It was towed to a local dealer where I was told it was going to cost over $9000 dollars to repair. It has also had some hard shifting in the transmission as well and many other people have reported engine and transmission issues in these trucks. I had the truck repaired by a reputable shop in my area at the cost of $7000 dollars. It continues to have transmission issues that have not been able to be repaired as of this time.

On January 1, 2025, while driving, I heard a loud bang, after which the engine began to knock. I brought the vehicle to the dealership on January 2, 2025, where I was charged over $4,000 for diagnoses. On January 9, 2025, the dealership informed me that the camshaft had broken. The truck had 130,000 miles on it at the time of the incident. I have consistently had the oil changed every 5,000 miles. In my opinion, this damage occurred prematurely.

I own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss that exhibits strange and persistent issues. A recurring engine code appears P0499, clears itself, and then reappears without consistent resolution. This affects the remote starter as the engine light will be engaged. Additionally, several service warnings flash momentarily and disappear, including: •Service Trailer Brake System •Brake System Failure – Top Speed Limited to 62 or 43 MPH •Parking Sensor Unavailable These warnings occur without warning and vanish too quickly to document fully. Despite multiple visits to the dealership, technicians have been unable to replicate or resolve the problem. This unpredictable behavior creates safety concerns, particularly regarding brake system reliability and sensor functionality. I and many others experiencing these same issues are concerned about a potential electrical or sensor issue impacting vehicle performance and safety.

Coming home from work one morning, the truck all the sudden displayed lights across the dash saying no oil pressure shut off engine now. So I Immediately pulled over and got out to find oil was coming out of everywhere, my front bumper, the hood, underneath. I had it towed to local Chevrolet dealership and they contacted me today to tell me the oil line from the engine had came loose because of a clamp. So I looked up some problems because it was over $1000 to fix it and found there was a customer satisfaction issued through GM because of the same problems within my year and model truck. Are they in contacted GM to see if they would fix the problem and they told me because my model number was included in their customer satisfaction that they couldn’t fix it even though it was the same year and the same type of truck. So I asked them how I got my model number included and they told me I had to go through the national Highway safety.
