2568 vehicles affected
SEAT BELTS:FRONT
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
Risk: A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
Risk: Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

1015918 vehicles affected
STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade vehicles. Electric power steering (EPS) assist may be lost momentarily, followed by a sudden return of EPS assist.
Risk: If EPS assist is lost and then suddenly returns, the driver may have difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

23004 vehicles affected
SEAT BELTS:FRONT
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Tahoe Police Pursuit and Special-Service vehicles. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
Risk: If the pretensioner cable becomes fatigued or breaks, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.
2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500
42280 vehicles affected
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:PEDALS AND LINKAGES
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, 1500 Crew Cab Special Service, Tahoe Police Pursuit/Special Service, GMC Sierra 2500, and 3500 vehicles. The brake pedal pivot nut may loosen, causing the brake pedal to be loose or inoperative.
Risk: If the brake pedal becomes loose or inoperative, the driver may be unable to stop the vehicle by using the brake pedal. Additionally, a loose pedal may also interfere with the accelerator pedal. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
Risk: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Vacuum pump failed causing an anti-lock brake failure and destroyed all my brake pads and rotors. General motors and the dealership are only covering the vacuum pump, but require me the customer to pay for the brake pads, rotors, and installation fees. GM had the dealership perform 3 days of testing to verify that it was the vacuum pump. I was hauling a camper with my truck when it failed with my 2 young children inside and the truck ground to a halt while shaking violently scaring my children. I had to have the vehicle towed due to how dangerous the issue was.

Vehicle stabilitrak light comes on and engine dies. Headlights flicker and completely cut off at night. When starting vehicle the dash says to roll the driver window down and then up to continue. Tonight August 12th 2025, the air quit completely and headlights cut off. Engine dies while in gear. When I put truck in reverse engine will die. Sometimes turning the wheel will cause the engine to cut off or lights to go out. I have taken to the dealership multiple times for this issue and it has yet to be resolved. This has been going on for around 7-8 months. I bought the truck in December and it’s been in the shop 4 times now.

2015 5.3 with afm related failure / lifter collapse still within warranty by mileage (5 yrs, 100,000 miles I think), out by years in service, was diagnosed by a GM authorized dealership by a GM Master Certified Technician and under the supervision of service manager. Issue Description On 6/18/2025, the dealership diagnosed a failure in the #7 lifter due to afm / afm related failure / lifter collapse. The vehicle’s engine, diagnosed at approximately 58,000 miles and minimal idle hours. While the GM Master technician is confident that only one side of lifters require immediate replacement, there is a possibility of damage to the camshaft lobe, which cannot be inspected without significant additional labor. There is also a concern about potential metal contamination in the oil, which could further impact the engine’s performance. I also have many documented repair orders indicating my concern with the transmissions performance.

Component that failed Lifter failure causing camshaft damage. I was driving my truck at the time the engine failure and loss of propulsion. The problem was later linked to lifter failure. Car started to lose power and surge forward while I was in oncoming traffic. I pulled over and had my truck towed to the Jamestown Chevy Dealership. I have had all of my services done at the certified Chevrolet dealership. Their professional diagnosis was lifter problem with camshaft damage. The vehicle was inspected by mechanics at Sierra Motors in Jamestown Ca. No prior warning to the vehicle failure. Once the truck lost propulsion and was surging the check engine light and road traction light came on.

I was driving my truck on a interstate when the torque converter broken and forced me to stop on a "No parking" area, The cars couldn't see me until I got really close to my car and almost caused an accident, the sheriff had to intervene and signal that there was a car stopped on the interstate, it wasn't the first time that it happened, it happened 5 times since I got the truck( I have it for 5 months) I already fixed it and replaced the torque converter but it's not safe to be on the side of the road every month, it need to be fixed because it can cause many accidents

GMC knows there is a problem with the Vacuum Pump Assembly/Belt Kit and are refusing to recall it. The breaks are harder to press (see attachments) and the alarms are constantly dinging. My truck has less than one hundred and fifty miles and I bought it 12/07/2015, they have a special warrant on these vehicles but will not honor it. This is dangerous not to have the proper breaking power.

-Vacuum pump malfunction. Not available, has already been repaired. Found out after the fact there had been a recall on 2014-2018 vacuum pumps. Mine had not been included in the recall, yet here we are. -While pulling into a parking spot, as I was slowing down/braking the pedal went to the floor, truck accelerated went over a parking barrier, sidewalk and hit a tree. If I had not hit the tree, I would have driven into the side of the building into people doing cardio or if someone had been walking in front of me, I would have hit them. Seeing an orthopedist on June 10 for right hip and knee pain as leg was fully extended on impact. -Quality GMC Collision/Service tested/drove the car and it didn't happen. Service ran diagnostics and it happened then. Highlighted in yellow on repair invoice. -Quality GMC Collision/Service. don't know if an adjuster looked at it or not. Quality did file a claim for it though. - There was no warning, indication, message, problem before this happened. My brakes were were working and then they weren't.

Experienced a problem with electrical theft deterrent system and it shut the vehicle off while driving. I tried to start the vehicle and nothing happened except it said theft deterrent system. I took the key out tried starting again and it turned over immediately. The dash said theft deterrent and I clicked dismiss but the dash icon (a car with a lock light) remained on. I then drove 11 miles home. I turned on my directional proceeded to brake upon approaching my driveway. As I attempted to turn the steering wheel the vehicle completely shut off. The info system stating theft deterrent active. I lost power steering and brakes. I needed to press the brakes with great force because the vehicle was headed towards the sidewalk and a road sign. Steering was virtually unresponsive. Vehicle stopped as the tires reached the curb and approximately 1 ft from the sign. Placed vehicle in park and started it back up. Pulled into my driveway and the info system stated I need to roll the drivers window down and the up to deactivate. I have checked all battery connections are intact and tight. The battery, starter and alternator were all checked and fine. I have no idea what caused this dangerous behavior. The incident happened on MA Rt. 126 988 S. Main st Bellingham MA 02019

I bought this truck a little over a year ago. Mileage 89,392. 2 weeks later the truck started to run poorly, shaking badly, misfiring. Took it to the garage. They told me the had to replace coil packs one one side lifters and one push rod. Truck ran good for 1 year. I know this because I had just gotten it inspected. A couple days later the truck started doing the same thing. Now it’s in the garage again. They tell me the camshaft is shot and needs replaced including all the lifters. The truck now has just over 100,000 miles on it. The repair is about $6600.00. GM will allow the garage to do some work under a warranty type citation and GM will pay approximately $535.00. For a total of about $1000.00. Now my concern is this truck could break down on the highway and cause an accident just like a current recall for crankshaft and or connecting rods. If there can be a recall for that there should be a recall on this issue also. The garage has informed me they have done a lot of these repairs. Some even had to come back a second time.

Number 7 cylinder valve failed. “Good Morning Mr. [XXX] . I have some updates on your vehicle. Based on my technicians inspection cylinder 7 is misfiring. He removed valve cover and found a stuck rocker arm caused by collapsed lifter. may need camshaft will know further when engine is tore down.” Then they quoted an outrageous bill. This is an on going issue with General Motors. Why is this not being fixed by the corporation? The truck doesn’t even have 100k miles on it and it’s been kept up routinely. I am the original owner and feel that problem has been going on for over 10 years now. GM should be held accountable. On 5 separate occasions during the last week my truck steering wheel became difficult to steer while executing a slow turn and then I lost all power almost causing me to crash. After my vehicle stopped I was able to restart it. I took my vehicle to a repair shop where they were unable to find any codes indicating a problem and suggested taking it to a dealer. I was able to find many people posting similar issues online and a service bulletin PIT5405C from January 2017. 2015 to 2017 Silverados were impacted according to this bulletin. When I contacted the Chevrolet Service department they could not find a recall for my vehicle.

On my 2015 Chevy Silverado truck the Service Airbag light has been coming on sporadically. I did a google search and received this back. Yes, there has been a recall on the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado regarding the airbag system, specifically affecting the roof-rail airbags (RRAB) which may deploy without a collision due to a potential manufacturing defect in the inflator, causing parts to potentially propel into the cabin and injure occupants; this recall affects both the 2015 Silverado 1500 I did a search via my VIN number and your site tells me my truck is not applicable. Please provide some guidance. I need this fixed and should not be charged for the fix.

Front seat belts tensioners are not recoiling the seat belts. The seat belt tensioners are not retracting when exiting the vehicle causing lashing buckle to get pinned between the door and door frame. I was told by GM customer service that some vehicles were recalled but my vehicle was not on the list. The problem has always existed which can be proven by door frame dents caused by seat belt tensioners.

I received the recall notice and then the special warranty notice, fall of 2019. I took my vehicle, which was experiencing the braking issues described in both notices, to Nereson Automotive in Detroit Lakes, MN. I did call ahead & had an appointment and informed them of the letters and the problems both on the phone and in person when dropping the vehicle off for repairs. After they called me and told me they made all the repairs and had the vehicle in good working order again, I picked up my 2015 Chevy Silverado High Country (approximately 107,000 miles) and while still on the lot I experienced the same braking issues. At that point I just figured it was something that I would have to deal with. After almost 5 years of dealing with the intermittent annoyance, I started doing some research on how to fix it myself and came across a mechanics instruction on how the recall and special warranty was supposed to be performed. I called them back and scheduled another appointment pointing out they were supposed to replace the vacuum pump in 2019 and I informed them (Ty) the radio and DIC on my truck would randomly change menus and stations and wanted them to reflash the computer system (which they did not do, and also charged me over $150 for a bogus diagnostic fee afterward). After I dropped my truck off for repair (again) (approximately 158,000 miles) I received a call and they said the special warranty is expired because I was approximately 8,000 miles over the extension. I informed them I had brought them the truck in 2019 to have the issue fixed and they did not fix it under warranty at that point. They said there was nothing they could do to help fix this important SAFETY RECALL. Now, I have complete brake assist failure and a dealer that seems to be ignoring the recalls and cutting corners. I called GM Customer Service and they said I have to work it out with the independently owned dealer. I called back yesterday (XXX) and they still refuse to fix the recall. While driving at 55-60 mph on Saturday, [XXX], the vehicle made a distinct engine sound and lost power, but continued to run with a pronounced misfire, and a ‘check engine’ light came on. Our safety was put at risk because we were merging into high speed traffic and I had to abruptly slow and move as far out of the travel lane as possible. I had the vehicle towed to Champion Chevrolet in Reno on Wednesday October 16 for evaluation. The mileage in was 44,252. I was told that the camshaft and some lifters had failed, and I opted to have the engine replaced with a remanufactured unit at the total cost to me of $14,660. I picked the vehicle up on 10/28/2024 with 44,259 odometer miles. I have since learned on the internet that this particular ‘Active Fuel Management (AFM)’ failure is known to Chevrolet corporate office and is the subject of a class action lawsuit against Chevrolet. I have also learned that there is the possibility of repayment to affected owners in early 2025. I am submitting this letter to bring my situation to your attention so that I am included in any list of owners that may be reimbursed as a result of this known engine issue. I remote started my vehicle about 5 minutes prior to getting in. After I got in and placed the key in the ignition, I started to smell smoke. I see in my rear view mirror the entire cab of my truck started to fill with smoke. When I turned my head around the interior of my rear window was on fire and my entire truck cab filled with smoke. I get out of the vehicle and immediately try and look for help as the fire was inside of my vehicle and the smoke smell was overwhelming. The fire then died out and the driver’s side pane on the rear window then shattered. I am now left with a shattered window and a vehicle that is left with unknown damage from a fire inside the pane. After going back and forth with a dealer that contacted Chevy for me, they determined there was no recall for the vehicle. Further research showed that this incident happened one other time in March of 2020 and was repaired once and the original recall was cleared. Chevy states that they have already repaired it once and are not liable to fix it a second time. This is a huge safety hazard and I am left questioning the integrity of my vehicle and the safety after what unknown damage has been done.

The torque converter with the 6L80 transmission went and destroyed the transmission in my 2015 Silverado. Which is going to cost me thousands of dollars to fix. With the 10's of thousands of people affected, Chevy should of done a recall on the torque converter and/or transmission. There were no signs/symptoms, the truck started shaking like I was driving over rumble strips, no check engine light. I was able to get it to a mechanic immediately and it sits there unusable at this time.
