2021 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Complaints and Recall Information
The 2021 CHEVROLET CORVETTE has 2 complaints and 3 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with the alternator warning not displaying on the dashboard and problems with the rear vision camera showing a black screen and red icons when backing up.
Common Issues- Alternator warning failure. The vehicle does not show a warning on the display when the alternator is not charging properly, causing owners to be unaware of a defective alternator until the battery fails.
- Backup camera malfunction. The rear vision camera intermittently shows a black screen with red icons on the infotainment display, resulting in reduced rear visibility when the car is in reverse.
The vehicle is subject to 3 recalls affecting the driveline, air bag system, and related software. These recalls cover defects in the rear half-shaft assembly and the air bag malfunction indicator due to software issues in the communications gateway module.
Recalls- Rear half-shaft assembly. (NHTSA Recall 22V091000) Twenty-two vehicles have defective rear half-shaft assemblies which may be missing ball bearings, causing loss of drive power. This sudden loss can increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace affected parts free of charge. Owner notification began April 4, 2022.
- Air bag malfunction indicator. (NHTSA Recall 21V421000) Approximately 285,622 vehicles have a software defect in the communications gateway module that processes loss of communication with the sensing diagnostic module. This causes the air bag malfunction light to illuminate inconsistently and may fail to alert the driver to actual air bag issues, increasing injury risk. Software updates are available free from dealers or via over-the-air updates. Owners were notified starting July 1, 2021.
- Communications gateway module software. (NHTSA Recall 21V421000) The same group of vehicles is affected by a software defect that causes errors in air bag system communication processing. Dealers will update the software free of charge. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" warnings were issued. Owner notification occurred July 1, 2021.
Owners facing repeated repairs related to these safety defects or unresolved recall issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting with a qualified attorney can help determine the best course of action.

I cannot believe the Corvette does not show that the alternator does not show that the car is not charging. I have a thirty year old corvette that will show you when the alternator does not show the car has an under performing alternator. If you do not have it showing on the display it will not show you that the alternator is defective. You have to show it on the display you never know you have a problem. It is an issue that is not a problem unless you know. I bought a battery and it was the alternator. They need to do a software upgrade to show you when a system goes out. My 1992 Corvette show you when there is a problem. Pathtic support on the part of General Motors.
