2024 CFMOTO 800NK Complaints and Recall Information

The 2024 CFMOTO 800NK has 7 complaints and 0 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report problems with the throttle, describing inconsistent acceleration or deceleration without throttle input. These throttle issues often occur at lower RPM ranges and have caused safety concerns including near collisions.

Common Issues

  • Jerky throttle. The throttle causes inconsistent acceleration or deceleration without input, especially at RPMs below 4,000. This has led to near collisions with other vehicles.
  • Low RPM hesitation. Throttle is jerky and hesitant at low RPMs during slow speeds or city riding, resulting in a chugging or stuttering feeling.
  • Throttle shuttering. When holding steady throttle between 3,500 and 5,000 RPM, the motorcycle shutters or jerks. This issue occurs in any gear or driving mode.
  • Delayed throttle response. Moderate-to-severe hesitation arises when increasing throttle input around 3,500 to 5,000 RPM, causing delayed acceleration and misfiring sensations.
  • Safety risk. Unintended acceleration or loss of control from the throttle issues increases the risk of accidents, injury, and property damage.
  • Known manufacturer issue. Dealers and the manufacturer acknowledge widespread complaints but US/NA models lack updates provided to fix the throttle problem available in other markets.
  • No fault codes. The motorcycle does not display warning lights or error messages related to the throttle condition.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs for throttle defects or unresolved safety concerns may have rights under their state’s lemon law and should consider seeking legal guidance on these issues.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

During low-to-moderate throttle input within approximately the 3500-5000 RPM range, moderate-to-severe throttle hesitation occurs when required to increase throttle input. This causes a chugging, struggling, stuttering, misfiring feeling and very delayed response from the vehicle. This has occurred while cruising on city streets and lower speed highways while trying to evade a quickly approaching vehicle from behind that could have resulted in a rearend collision. The vehicle was recently inspected by a certified CFMOTO dealership for its first service following the break-in period recommended by the manufacturer. The dealership confirmed that it was a known issue but found no obvious condition that would cause this throttle problem. No warning lamps or messages have been displayed on the motorcycle.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

This model motorcycle is know to have a throttle issue when in any gear and any driving mode. Holding the throttle open/steady between 3500-5000 RPM and maintaining speed the Throttle/RPM's will start to shutter/jerk. The Non NA/US models of this vehicle have an update that fixes this issue. Many of the US/NA owners have complained about this issue but haven't gotten any update/information from the manufacturer and have been told there's no plan for an update for our model. This is a safety concern as it can cause inadvertent acceleration causing an accident resulting in damage, injury, and possible death.
