2011 CADILLAC SRX Complaints and Recall Information
The 2011 CADILLAC SRX has 10 complaints and 7 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with the brake system, including brakes losing responsiveness or going to the floor unexpectedly. Problems with dim headlights and rear suspension corrosion have also been reported.
- Brake failure. The brake pedal sometimes goes to the floor or loses responsiveness, especially after hitting bumps or potholes, creating dangerous stopping conditions.
- Intermittent brake issues. Brakes may work normally but then suddenly become unresponsive, requiring pumping of the brake pedal to restore function.
- ABS malfunctions. The anti-lock braking system can cause the brakes to go soft and lose pressure when activated, sometimes taking extended periods to regain normal operation.
- Headlight dimness. Headlights become extremely dim over time despite bulb replacements, forcing owners to drive with high beams for safety reasons.
- Rear suspension corrosion. Some vehicles show severe corrosion in the rear suspension leading dealers to declare the vehicle unrepairable and advise against driving.
- Shaking and acceleration issues. Brakes engaging during acceleration and causing the vehicle to shake have been reported on rough roads.
- Delayed repairs. Owners report long delays in obtaining recall parts for suspension repairs, extending over years without resolution.
There are 7 recalls affecting various systems including seat belts, transmission, airbags, HVAC controls, power seat adjustment, and rear suspension. The rear suspension recalls include a Do Not Drive advisory due to risks of loss of vehicle control.
- Seat belt buckle fracture. NHTSA Recall 10V623000 affects 97,843 vehicles. The front seat belt buckles may fracture and separate from the seat attachment in a crash, increasing injury risk. Dealers will modify the buckles free of charge.
- Transmission shift cable. Recall 11V595000 covers 8,789 vehicles where the transmission shift cable may come out of the bracket, causing the vehicle to roll unexpectedly. Dealers will ensure proper cable routing at no cost.
- Side airbag deactivation. Recall 11V308000 involves 47,401 vehicles. The right side roof-rail airbag may turn off incorrectly when the passenger seat is unoccupied, reducing protection for rear occupants. Dealers will reprogram the sensing module free of charge.
- HVAC module software. Recall 11V149000 affects 10,179 vehicles. Faulty software can disable heating, cooling, and defrost controls, reducing driver visibility. The electronic climate control module will be reprogrammed for free.
- Power front seat height adjuster. Recall 14V447000 covers 414,333 vehicles. Bolts securing the power seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly. Dealers will replace affected bolts free of charge.
- Rear suspension toe adjuster. Recall 14V571000 involves 290,241 vehicles. Improperly torqued jam nuts on the rear suspension may cause sway or failure, risking loss of control. Dealers will inspect and replace parts if needed, at no cost.
- Rear suspension loose toe link. Recall 21V473000 affects 380,498 vehicles and includes a Do Not Drive advisory. A loose toe link can separate and cause loss of vehicle control. Dealers will replace the adjustable toe link with a non-adjustable part free of charge.
Owners confronting repeated brake failures, severe suspension defects, or unresolved recall repairs may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Review state-specific protections related to repeated repairs or significant safety issues.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX vehicles manufactured April 14, 2009, to September 1, 2014, and 2011-2012 Saab 9-4X vehicles manufactured February 1, 2011, to September 13, 2011. On the affected vehicles, the jam nut in the rear suspension toe adjuster link may not be torqued to the proper specification. A loose toe adjuster link can cause the vehicle to sway or wander at highway speeds. A loose toe adjuster link may lead to thread damage and eventual failure. Failure of the toe adjuster link will cause an abrupt change in the vehicle's alignment.
Risk: Failure of the toe adjuster link could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

I own a 2011 Cadillac SRX and have experienced a serious issue with the headlights. Over time, the headlights became extremely dim, making it difficult and dangerous to drive at night. This was not due to the bulbs themselves, but rather an issue with the headlight housing or design, which many other Cadillac SRX owners have also reported. The visibility is so poor that it creates a major safety concern for myself, my passengers, and others on the road. Despite the widespread nature of this issue and media coverage (including WSOC-TV Channel 9’s investigation), there has been no recall or extended warranty to cover the cost of repairs, which can be significant. I am submitting this complaint in hopes that the NHTSA will investigate and consider opening a recall to address this recurring and dangerous issue with the 2011 SRX headlight system.

I’m sending in this complaint which is a common problem with the Cadillac SRX. The ABS breaks go soft when activated. I have no breaks , the breaks go to the floor. This is so dangerous. Now I have to turn the car off and pump the breaks. This sometimes take a whole day to get the breaks back. Why isn’t this a recall??
