Recalls
  • Steering shaft bolts. NHTSA recall 11V339000 involved 739 vehicles where intermediate steering shaft attaching bolts may not have been tightened properly. This defect could cause loss of steering and increase crash risk. Dealers will inspect and tighten the bolts at no charge.
  • Rear axle cross pins. Recall 11V007000 covers 30,566 vehicles with rear axle cross pins that were not heat treated to specification. The pins might fracture and shift, causing the rear axle to lock and potentially resulting in loss of vehicle control. Dealers will replace the cross pins free of charge.
  • Ignition lock actuator. Recall 14V827000 affects 84,192 vehicles with ignition locks that may bind or stick in the "Start" position. This can cause sudden loss of engine, steering, and braking power and may disable air bags in a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the ignition lock housing as needed at no cost.
  • Passenger air bag inflator Zone A. Recall 21V054000 includes over 1.7 million vehicles, where non-desiccated passenger frontal inflators may explode due to propellant degradation, leading to metal fragments striking occupants and causing serious injury or death. Dealers will replace the inflator free of charge. Interim and second notification letters were sent; no "Do Not Drive" advisory was issued.
  • Passenger air bag inflator Zone B and C. Also under recall 21V054000, vehicles registered in additional states face the same inflator defect and remedy as described above, with dealer replacements provided free of charge.
  • Passenger air bag inflator earlier models. Recall 21V050000 affects vehicles from 2007 to 2011 with similar defective inflators containing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate propellant. Explosions may send sharp metal fragments into the cabin, risking injury or death. GM will replace the inflators at no cost; notifications have been mailed. No parking or driving restrictions apply.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs related to these safety defects or those with unresolved recall issues may have legal rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a qualified attorney can help determine possible remedies and protections available for affected owners.
