2015 BUICK LACROSSE Complaints and Recall Information
The 2015 BUICK LACROSSE has 3 complaints and 7 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report problems with steering difficulty and issues related to the anti-lock braking system (ABS). Complaints include the steering wheel becoming hard to turn and the ABS warning light illumination.
Common Issues- Steering difficulty. The steering wheel becomes very hard to turn during normal driving conditions, sometimes accompanied by warnings to drive with care.
- Power steering failure. Messages alerting to power steering problems appear, indicating reduced assistance while steering.
- ABS malfunction. The ABS warning light comes on and the system may fail, leading to jerking or shifting issues while driving at highway speeds.
There are seven recalls for this vehicle affecting various systems mainly related to airbags and seat belts. The recalls involve potential defects in airbag inflators and software issues affecting airbag and seat belt pretensioner deployment during crashes.
Recalls- Side air bag inflator (15V666000). Affects 395 vehicles. The side impact air bag inflator may rupture upon deployment, risking metal fragments striking occupants and improper inflation of the air bag, which increases injury risk. Dealers will replace side air bag modules free of charge.
- Air bag sensing and diagnostic module software (16V651000). Affects over 3.6 million vehicles including the 2015 LaCrosse. Certain driving conditions activate a diagnostic test that disables frontal air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment in a crash, increasing injury risk. Dealers will reflash the software or replace the SDM if there has been a prior deployment free of charge.
- Seat belt pretensioner software update (17V437000). Affects 40,683 vehicles. Some previously remedied vehicles did not receive the complete software update, causing diagnostic tests that disable frontal air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment during crashes. Dealers will reflash the software and replace SDMs where needed free of charge.
Owners dealing with repeated repairs, safety defects, or unresolved recall issues may have rights under their state’s lemon law. It may be advisable to consult legal counsel to explore those options.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
Risk: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro, Equinox, Malibu, and GMC Terrain vehicles. The affected vehicles have front seat-mounted side impact air bags whose inflator may rupture upon its deployment.
Risk: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of one or both of the side impact air bags, the air bag's inflator may rupture and the air bag may not properly inflate. The rupture could cause metal fragments to strike the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. Additionally, if the air bag does not properly inflate, the driver or passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
