2007 BMW 760LI Complaints and Recall Information
The 2007 BMW 760LI has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues with door latch systems and transmission shift-by-wire functions due to recalls. There are no recorded complaints from consumers.
Six recalls address critical components including the transmission, door latch systems, and occupant classification sensors. These affect various safety and operational systems.
Recalls- Transmission shift-by-wire (12V502000). Affects 45,500 vehicles manufactured between August 23, 2004 and July 24, 2008 equipped with Comfort Access. The transmission may shift to Neutral instead of Park when the Start/Stop button is pressed multiple times quickly. This can allow the vehicle to roll away if the parking brake is not applied. BMW notified owners starting November 2012 and repairs began March 2013. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisory issued.
- Door latch system software (12V504000). Impacts 7,485 vehicles from model years 2005 to 2007 with Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic options. The doors may appear latched yet open unexpectedly due to software problems. This can cause occupant ejection or increase injury risk during a crash. Repair involves software updates and started December 12, 2012. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisory issued.
- Front passenger occupant detection mat (13V564000). Applies to 76,565 vehicles including 2007 760Li. The detection mat may crack over time and deactivate the passenger airbag in a crash, increasing injury risk. BMW issued interim notifications in January 2014 and provided repairs when parts became available. An extended warranty covers affected seat mats. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisory issued.
- Door latch system update (17V328000). Covers 45,484 vehicles from model years 2005-2008 equipped with Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic. Similar to the previous door latch recall, doors may inadvertently open, posing risks of occupant ejection and injury. Dealers updated the latch system starting February 8, 2018. No "Do Not Drive" or "Park Outside" advisory issued.
Individuals grappling with repeated repairs related to safety defects or unresolved recall issues might want to explore legal options under their state’s lemon law. Consulting a qualified attorney could help clarify rights in these situations.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
BMW is recalling certain model year 2005-2008 7-Series vehicles, equipped with the Comfort Access option, and manufactured August 23, 2004, through July 24, 2008. The affected vehicles have an electronic key and an electronic connection between the gear shifter and the transmission (shift-by-wire) that automatically shifts the transmission to Park when the driver presses the Start/Stop button to shutdown the engine. If the driver presses the engine Start/Stop button 2 or 3 times within a short time interval, the system may shift the transmission to Neutral rather than Park. If using the electronic key (Comfort Access mode), there would be no protection from the ignition interlock that prevents key removal if the vehicle is not in Park.
Risk: If the driver exits the vehicle with the transmission in Neutral and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle may rollaway. Unattended rollaway incidents often result in a crash or cause injury to pedestrians attempting to stop or enter the vehicle or to other bystanders in the path of the vehicle.
