2007 BMW 750I Complaints and Recall Information

The 2007 BMW 750I has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to electronic systems, particularly those involving door latch mechanisms and transmission shift controls tied to the Comfort Access option.

Recalls
  • Ignition switch and transmission control. NHTSA recall 12V502000 affects 45,500 vehicles. Vehicles with Comfort Access and shift-by-wire may shift to Neutral instead of Park if the Start/Stop button is pressed multiple times quickly. This allows key removal without the vehicle in Park, risking rollaway and potential crashes. BMW notified owners in November 2012 and began repairs in March 2013.
  • Transmission shift system. Included in recall 12V502000 with 45,500 vehicles affected. The electronic connection between the gear shifter and transmission may improperly shift to Neutral, creating risk of vehicle rollaway without parking brake applied. Repairs followed owner notification starting in late 2012.
  • Door latch software defect. Recall 12V504000 covers 7,485 vehicles with both Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic options. A software problem may cause doors to appear latched while actually unlocked, allowing unexpected door opening from driving conditions or occupant interaction. The recall started December 2012 with software updates provided free of charge.
  • Passenger seat air bag sensor. Recall 13V564000 affects 76,565 vehicles including certain 2006-2007 BMW models. The front passenger occupant detection mat may crack and deactivate the air bag during a crash, increasing injury risk. Owners received interim notices in 2014; repairs are pending part availability and will be free.
  • Door latch system update. Recall 17V328000 involves 45,484 vehicles with Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic. Doors may inadvertently open due to faulty latches, raising risk of occupant ejection or injury in crashes. The recall started February 2018 with dealer-installed latch system updates.

Owners facing repeated repairs related to these defects or unresolved recall issues may have rights under state lemon laws. Consulting a qualified attorney can clarify options regarding warranty coverage and potential remedies.

BMW is recalling certain model year 2005-2007 7-Series vehicles, equipped with both Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic options, and manufactured August 23, 2004, through September 3, 2007. Due to a software problem, the doors may appear to be closed and latched, but, in fact, may inadvertently open.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

BMW is recalling certain model year 2005-2008 7-Series vehicles, equipped with the Comfort Access option, and manufactured August 23, 2004, through July 24, 2008. The affected vehicles have an electronic key and an electronic connection between the gear shifter and the transmission (shift-by-wire) that automatically shifts the transmission to Park when the driver presses the Start/Stop button to shutdown the engine. If the driver presses the engine Start/Stop button 2 or 3 times within a short time interval, the system may shift the transmission to Neutral rather than Park. If using the electronic key (Comfort Access mode), there would be no protection from the ignition interlock that prevents key removal if the vehicle is not in Park.

Risk: If the driver exits the vehicle with the transmission in Neutral and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle may rollaway. Unattended rollaway incidents often result in a crash or cause injury to pedestrians attempting to stop or enter the vehicle or to other bystanders in the path of the vehicle.
