Dealers will replace and secure the battery cable connector free of charge. Notifications started August 14, 2019.
- Driver Air Bag Inflator Phase Stabilized Ammonium Nitrate (PSAN). Recall 20V017000 covers 59,965 BMW models including the 2010 335D. Air bag inflators used as interim remedy parts may explode after exposure to heat and humidity, posing serious injury or death risk. Dealers will replace the driver air bag or inflator free of charge. This recall began March 11, 2020.
- HVAC System Wiring Overheating. Recall 17V676000 includes 702,965 vehicles including the 335D. Wiring controlling air flow for heating and air conditioning may overheat, causing connectors to melt and raising fire risk, even when the vehicle is parked. Dealers will replace wiring and connectors free of charge with notification letters sent starting November 2017.
- Battery Cable Connector Degradation. Recall 18V314000 affects 6,591 vehicles with diesel engines including the 2010 335D. BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2006-2011 3 Series Sedan (324i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi), 2006-2012 3 Series Sportswagon (325xi, 328i, 328xi), and 2009-2011 3 Series Sedan (335d) vehicles. The original steering wheel may have been replaced with a sport or M-sport steering wheel equipped with an inflator that can explode during deployment.
Risk: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
