2009 BMW 335D Complaints and Recall Information
The 2009 BMW 335D has 0 complaints and 7 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owner reports primarily involve issues related to vehicle systems affected by the recalls rather than independent complaints.
The 335D is subject to multiple recalls affecting systems such as the driver air bag inflator and electrical wiring connections. These recalls address potential safety risks including inflator explosions and electrical failures.
Recalls- Driver air bag inflator. Recall 24V513000 affects 394,029 vehicles including the 2009-2011 335D models. The defect involves sport or M-sport steering wheels with inflators that may explode during deployment. This poses risks of serious injury or death from metal fragments. Dealers will inspect and replace modules as needed free of charge.
- Air bag inflator phase stabilized ammonium nitrate. Recall 20V017000 covers 59,965 vehicles with non-desiccated driver air bag inflators used as interim fixes in earlier Takata recalls. Exposure to heat and humidity may cause inflators to explode, risking injury or death. BMW will replace the inflator or entire air bag at no cost starting from March 2020.
- Positive battery cable connection. Recall 19V472000 involves 16,641 vehicles including 2009-2011 335D models. The cable connection at the fuse box may degrade and cause intermittent power loss, leading to stalling and increased crash risk. Dealers will replace and secure the connector free of charge. The recall began August 2019.
- Heating and air conditioning wiring. Recall 17V676000 impacts 702,965 vehicles. The wiring controlling airflow may overheat, causing electrical connectors to melt and increasing the fire risk, even when parked. BMW will replace wiring and connectors free of charge after notifying owners.
Owners with repeated repairs or unresolved issues related to these defects or recalls may want to consider their rights under state lemon laws for further assistance.
