9999 BABY TREND INC. EZ-LIFT
ID: 2122960Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness
I am a CPST and do not own these seats, but I interact with families who do. These seats have a design flaw that could lead to death or injury of an infant if the seat remains on the market. The design flaw is regarding the chest straps and the convenience feature that consists of Velcro on the back side of the seat. The presence of Velcro at this location allows for the user to attach the belt plate into the folded velcro and think that they are using one of the designated slots. If they use the nylon strap while it is folded up and attached to the velcro they can easily clip the belt plate into the non-sewn portion of the harness and thereby only the velcro will be holding the baby in the seat. This will result in the baby flying out of the seat if the driver stops suddenly. This design flaw poses significant risk to the infant and users and should warrant an immediate recall of the seat.
