2008 AUTOCAR WX Complaints and Recall Information
The 2008 AUTOCAR WX has 0 complaints and 5 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to frame structure, air brake systems, engine components, and parking brake performance based on recall data.
Five recalls affect multiple systems including structural frame components, air brake systems, engine operation, and parking brake controls. These recalls cover a wide range of manufacturing years and address safety-critical defects that could impact vehicle control and safety.
Recalls- Frame rail extension cracks. NHTSA recall 10V045000 affected 1,969 vehicles. Cracks may develop in the top flange of the front frame rail extension, potentially deforming the extension bracket under load. This may compromise vehicle control and increase crash risk. Autocar will repair the vehicles free of charge.
- Missing air tank drain valve. NHTSA recall 13V184000 affected 82 vehicles. The air brake systems lack required drain valves, causing moisture buildup and reducing air capacity in the brake system. This defect may lead to reduced brake performance and greater crash risk. Repairs will be done free of charge by dealers.
- Intake manifold sensor freeze. NHTSA recall 14V132000 affected 4,192 vehicles. Condensation may freeze in the intake manifold during cold weather, interfering with the intake manifold pressure sensor. This can cause elevated exhaust temperatures or flames, raising risk of fire or burn injury near the exhaust pipe. Authorized service facilities will update the ECM calibration at no cost.
- Parking brake valve leak. NHTSA recall 23V023000 affected 11,353 vehicles. A worn parking brake control valve may leak air, causing the parking brake to release unexpectedly. This could permit vehicle rollaway and increase crash risk. Dealers will remove the vent line and fitting free of charge.
Owners with repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues involving these defects may have rights under state lemon laws. Consulting a qualified attorney specializing in consumer protection could provide guidance on potential legal options.

PARKING BRAKE
Autocar, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain 2012-2016 Xpert, 2010-2020 Xspotter, 2008-2020 Xpeditor, 2008-2010 WXLL and WX vehicles. A worn parking brake control valve can leak air into the vent line, creating excessive back pressure and causing the parking brake to release unexpectedly.
Risk: The unexpected release of the parking brake may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE
Autocar, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain model year 2008-2014 ACX, WX, and WXLL vehicles manufactured July 30, 2007, through February 10, 2014, and equipped with certain Cummins Westport Model ISL G or ISX12 G engines. Condensation in the intake manifold may freeze during cold weather conditions and interfere with the proper operation of the intake manifold pressure sensor.
Risk: The improper operation of the sensor could induce elevated exhaust temperatures or flames from the exhaust pipe, increasing the risk of a vehicle fire or burn injury to a person near the exhaust pipe.

SERVICE BRAKES, AIR
Autocar, LLC is recalling certain model year 2005-2013 ACX, WX, and WXLL trucks built November 16, 2004, through September 10, 2012. On the affected vehicles, the air brake systems were built without the required air tank drain valve. Therefore, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 121, "Air Brake Systems."
Risk: Air tanks with valves omitted will not drain if moisture is introduced into the tank, potentially reducing air capacity in the air brake system, which could cause a reduction in brake performance and equipment durability, thus increasing the risk of a crash.

STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS:UNDERBODY SHIELDS
AUTOCAR IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2009 WX AND WXR HEAVY DUTY CLASS 8 LCOE VEHICLES. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY DEVELOP CRACKS IN THE TOP FLANGE OF THE FRONT FRAME RAIL EXTENSION. OVER TIME, THE CRACK MAY PROPAGATE ACROSS THE EXTENSION BRACKET, POTENTIALLY CAUSING THE EXTENSION BRACKET TO DEFORM UNDER LOAD. THESE TIRES ARE ALL ASYMMETRICAL TREAD PATTERNS WITH "OUTER" INDICATED ON THE OUTSIDE SIDEWALL. THE OUTSIDE SIDEWALL CONTAINS THE FULL TIRE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER INCLUDING THE PRODUCTION DATE CODE.
Risk: THIS MAY COMPROMISE THE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
