2021 AUDI RS 5 Complaints and Recall Information
The 2021 AUDI RS 5 has 1 complaint and 48 recalls filed with NHTSA. The single complaint reports that the MMI (Multi Media Interface) system keeps restarting randomly.
Owners have reported issues related to electronic system malfunctions and vehicle component defects.
There are 48 recalls affecting various systems on the vehicle. These recalls cover safety systems, suspension, seat belts, tires, rearview camera displays, and electrical wiring. The wide range of recall subjects indicates multiple areas requiring manufacturer corrections.
- Common Issues
- MMI system instability. The infotainment interface restarts without warning during operation.
Recalls
- Rearview camera display. (Recall 22V742000) A software defect causes the rearview camera screen to go blank when the vehicle is in reverse, reducing rear visibility and increasing crash risk. About 170,296 vehicles are affected. Dealers will update the infotainment software free of charge.
- Rear axle alignment and suspension. (Recall 22V034000 and 21V295000) Rear axle lock nuts may break or rear axle alignment might not have been inspected after prior repairs, potentially causing misalignment. This can lead to uneven tire wear or loss of vehicle control, increasing crash risk. Around 31,058 to 40,993 vehicles are included. Dealers will inspect, adjust alignment, and replace parts as needed at no cost.
- Rear seat belt retractors. (Recall 21V606000) The automatic locking retractors on rear seat belts may deactivate early, preventing child restraint systems from securing properly. This affects roughly 45,496 vehicles and heightens injury risk during a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt assemblies as required free of charge.
- Wiring harness protection for rear lights. (Recall 20V737000) Missing anti-abrasion protection on the wiring harness in the spare wheel well area could lead to wire damage after a rear collision, disabling door opening, and hazard lights. About 5,426 vehicles are impacted. Dealers will add protective scuff material for free.
- Tire wear due to suspension defects. Rear axle misalignment from suspension component issues can cause premature or uneven tire wear, risking a crash. Covered under recalls 22V034000 and 21V295000, corrective actions include inspections, adjustments, and tire replacements at no charge.
Owners with repeated repairs, unresolved recall issues, or ongoing safety defects might have rights under state lemon laws. Consulting a legal expert may be advisable for those affected by persistent problems.
