2010 AUDI Q5 Complaints and Recall Information

The 2010 AUDI Q5 has 1 complaint and 4 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report severe rusting on the subframe and crossmember, which affects the rear of the vehicle. This issue impacts steering, tire alignment, and causes uneven tire wear along with a bouncy ride due to control arm and shock wear or cracking.

Common Issues

  • Frame rust. Severe corrosion on the subframe and crossmember at the rear of the car affects steering and tire alignment, causing tire wear.
  • Rear suspension problems. Swaying and bouncy ride result from wear or cracking of control arms and shocks.

Four recalls address safety and fuel system concerns that impact the 2010 AUDI Q5. The affected systems include the fuel pump and driver’s frontal air bag inflator, which have defects that create fire and injury risks. Audi is conducting repairs at no charge to owners.

Recalls

  • Fuel pump flange. NHTSA recall 16V660000 affects 143,214 vehicles due to cracks in the fuel pump flange that may cause fuel leaks. Fuel leakage near an ignition source can increase fire risk. Dealers inspect and replace cracked flanges or clean and install a protective rubber band if no crack is found.
  • Driver air bag inflator. Recall 16V078000 covers 659,493 vehicles with frontal air bag inflators that may rupture under deployment, sending metal fragments into occupants. Dealers replace inflators free of charge once parts become available.
  • Driver air bag inflator. Recall 18V082000 affects 162,782 vehicles with an inflator defect that can cause explosion upon deployment. This recall partially supersedes 16V078000. Dealers replace inflators with a safer part at no cost.
  • Fuel pump flange replacement. Recall 18V818000 for 5,987 vehicles previously repaired under recall 16V660000 found that the interim butyl tape repair might fail to prevent leaks. Dealers replace the flange and install butyl tape again free of charge.

Owners with repeated repairs or unresolved issues related to these safety recalls may have protections under state lemon laws. Consulting a legal expert on lemon law rights may assist owners pursuing resolution.
