Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2021-2023 ID.4, 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-Tron, and Q4 e-Tron Sportback vehicles. The instrument panel may not properly display the transmission gear lever indicator. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect."

Risk: Failure to display the gear position may result in a vehicle rollaway if the parking brake is not engaged, increasing the risk of a crash.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2024-2025 AUDI Q4 E-Tron SUV, AUDI Q4 E-Tron Sportback, and 2024 ID.4 vehicles. The on-board charger (OCDC) may fail and stop charging the 12-volt battery, which can result in a loss of drive power.

Risk: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Q4 E-TRON and Q4 E-TRON Sportback vehicles. The incorrect headlight control module software may have been installed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Risk: Incorrect headlight control module software may cause the parking lights not to operate as intended when the headlights are turned on and the turn signals are activated, which can reduce vehicle visibility and increase the risk of a crash.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:CHARGING:CABLE/CORD:ONBOARD

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2022-2024 RS e-tron GT, e-tron GT, Q4 e-tron Sportback, Q4 e-tron, 2020-2021 Audi A8, 2019-2024 e-tron Quattro, 2020-2024 e-tron Sportback Quattro, Q5, and 2021-2022 A7 vehicles. When using the industrial 220V/240V plug at the 100% charge setting, some home power outlets may be incapable of handling the electrical current required to utilize the compact charging system, causing the outlet or charging cable to overheat.

Risk: An overheated outlet or charging cable can increase the risk of a fire.

AIR BAGS

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Q4 E-Tron SUV and Q4 E-Tron Sportback vehicles. During deployment, the head curtain air bag could deform the door seal and expose the metal inlay within the seal, which could tear the air bag. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

Risk: In the event of a crash, a torn air bag cannot protect occupants as intended, increasing the risk of injury.

TIRES

The contact owns a 2024 Audi Q4 equipped with Bridgestone Tires, Tire Line: Alenza, Tire Size: 255/45/R20, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated that while her friend was driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Tire Pressure Lost" was displayed. The friend pulled into a parking lot to inspect the vehicle and noticed a blowout with one of the tires. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not towed to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact stated her friend waited for towing assistance. The contact stated that all four tires were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,630. The VIN was invalid.

The contact stated after the dealer had delivered the brand-new vehicle to the contact, the contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V125000 (Electrical System); prior to the lease agreement; however, the dealer failed to disclose the recall information to the contact, and the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had failed to charge. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure could be related to the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 150. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

BACK OVER PREVENTION

The contact owns a 2024 Audi Q4 E-Tron. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle in drive and reverse, the audible sound to alert pedestrians that the vehicle was in motion was intermittently inaudible. The contact stated that the sound was inoperable while the vehicle was in reverse, creating a back over hazard for pedestrians. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,100.

I replicated this warning again sitting in the car. Fearing the car will catch fire I had it moved out of my garage. My Audi Service Center was not able to replicate the issue and I provided video and photo evidence of the danger. They claim that car works normal. In the photo is the battery light and sos light on. In addition, all safety features failed to work. Audi Q4 Etron regularly crashes and driver lose federally required safety features. For example additional photos show the loss of speedometer reading stuck on 8 mph and other safety features. These crashes happen at least once a week.
