2013 ASTON MARTIN V8 VANTAGE Complaints and Recall Information
The 2013 ASTON MARTIN V8 VANTAGE has 0 complaints and 5 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to accelerator pedal assembly failures, seat heater malfunctions, door lock problems, and transmission hydraulic leaks based on recall data.
There are five recalls involving the 2013 model. The recalls address components in vehicle speed control, seat heating systems, interior door locking mechanisms, and the powertrain transmission system.
- Accelerator pedal assembly failure. The throttle pedal arm may break due to manufacturing defects. When the arm breaks, the engine returns to idle and the driver cannot maintain or increase engine speed, increasing crash risk. (NHTSA Recall 13V228000 affecting 689 vehicles; fix involves replacement of the pedal assembly.)
- Accelerator pedal arm breakage replacement. A similar defect affecting the accelerator pedal arm requires replacement of the pedal assemblies. This recall supersedes the previous recall and applies to 5001 vehicles. (NHTSA Recall 14V010000)
- Seat heater control module failure. Electronic control modules may fail and prevent the driver and front passenger seat heaters from switching off. The seat heater could overheat and smolder, posing injury risks. Dealers will install an additional power interruption module. (NHTSA Recall 14V753000 affecting 7256 vehicles.)
- Interior door unlocking malfunction. Interior door unlocking mechanisms may not function with the vehicle locked from outside, trapping occupants inside. The fix disables the double locking feature via software reprogramming. (NHTSA Recall 15V846000 affecting 6076 vehicles.)
- Transmission clutch fluid line leak. The clutch fluid connector in the 7-speed Auto-Shift Manual transmission may break, causing hydraulic fluid leaks. This may impede gear shifting or cause the transmission to switch to emergency neutral unexpectedly, increasing crash risk and possible vehicle rollaway. Dealers will install a support bracket to secure the fluid line. (NHTSA Recall 17V391000 affecting 179 vehicles.)
Owners facing repeated mechanical failures, unresolved recall issues, or safety defects may have rights under their state lemon laws. Consulting legal resources specializing in lemon law claims could provide guidance on potential steps.

POWER TRAIN
Aston Martin the Americas (Aston Martin) is recalling certain 2011-2014 V8 Vantage vehicles equipped with 7-speed Auto-Shift Manual (ASM) "SportShift II" transmissions. A connector for the clutch fluid line may break, resulting in a hydraulic fluid leak.
Risk: The loss of hydraulic fluid may prevent the vehicle from shifting out of the gear that it is in. Additionally, if the vehicle is being driven when the fluid level significantly drops, the transmission may shift to an emergency neutral as the vehicle comes to a stop. If the driver ignores the dash warning message and exits the vehicle without applying the parking brake, the vehicle may roll away. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES
Aston Martin Lagonda of North America (Aston Martin) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 DB9, 2010-2012 DBS, 2010-2016 V8 Vantage, 2012 Virage, 2010-2016 Rapide, 2014-2016 Vanquish, 2011-2016 V12 Vantage, and 2012-2013 V12 Zagato vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with interior door unlocking mechanisms that may not function when the vehicle has been locked from the outside. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."
Risk: If the doors cannot be opened by an occupant from inside the vehicle, they may be trapped inside, increasing their risk of injury.

Aston Martin Lagonda of North America (Aston Martin) is recalling certain model year 2008-2014 DB9 and V8 Vantage, 2009-2012 DBS, 2010-2012 Rapide, 2014 Rapide S, 2011-2012 V12 Vantage, 2011-2014 V8 Vantage S and 2012 Virage vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the accelerator pedal arm may break.
Risk: If the accelerator pedal arm breaks, the engine will return to idle and the driver will be unable to maintain or increase engine speed, increasing the risk of a crash.

In the affected vehicles, the electronic control module for the driver and front passenger seat heaters may fail, preventing the seat heaters from being able to be turned off.
Risk: If the electronic control module fails, the seat heater could get hot enough that areas of the seat may overheat and smolder, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
