2014 ASTON MARTIN DB9 Complaints and Recall Information

The 2014 ASTON MARTIN DB9 has 0 complaints and 6 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report issues related to the accelerator pedal, seat heaters, and transmission systems as indicated by the recalls.

There are six recalls that address problems affecting various systems including the accelerator pedal assembly, seat heater controls, door locking mechanisms, and the automatic transmission.

  • Accelerator pedal assembly. Recall 14V753000 and recall 13V228000 affect 689 to 7256 vehicles with throttle or accelerator pedal arms that may break due to manufacturing errors. If the pedal arm breaks, the engine returns to idle, preventing acceleration and increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers replace the pedal assemblies free of charge.
  • Seat heater electronic control module. Recall 14V753000 affects 7256 vehicles where the control module may fail, causing seat heaters to remain on and potentially overheat or smolder the seat. Dealers install an additional module to interrupt power to the heaters if failure occurs.
  • Interior door locking mechanism. Recall 15V846000 involves 6076 vehicles with door unlocking mechanisms that may not function after locking from the outside, violating FMVSS 206. Occupants may become trapped inside if the doors cannot be opened. Dealers disable the double locking feature through software updates.
  • Accelerator pedal arm breakage. Recall 14V010000 affects 5001 vehicles. This supersedes recall 13V228000. The pedal arm may break causing the engine to idle and preventing speed control. Dealers replace the assemblies; vehicles previously repaired under the prior recall must receive the current fix.
  • Transmission circuit board fault. Recall 14V425000 covers 440 vehicles with transmissions that may shift to neutral without driver input due to faulty circuit boards. This impairs speed control and increases crash risk. Dealers replace the circuit boards free of charge. Owners experiencing this issue are advised to turn off the ignition and restart the car to regain control.
  • Transmission park pawl engagement. Recall 17V796000 affects 3493 vehicles where a communication error between transmission and engine control modules can prevent the park pawl from engaging. Vehicles stopped on slopes without parking brake may roll unexpectedly. Dealers provide a software update to the Transmission Control Module starting February 2018.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM)

Aston Martin The Americas (Aston Martin) is recalling certain 2009-2016 DB9, 2009-2012 DBS, 2010-2015 Rapide, 2012 Virage, and 2014 Vanquish vehicles equipped with a 6-Speed Touchtronic II Automatic Transmission. A communication error between the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the Transmission Control Module (TCM) can cause the transmission park pawl to not engage.

Risk: If the park pawl does not engage and the vehicle is stopped on a slope and exited without the parking brake being applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly roll, increasing the risk of a crash.

LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES

Aston Martin Lagonda of North America (Aston Martin) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 DB9, 2010-2012 DBS, 2010-2016 V8 Vantage, 2012 Virage, 2010-2016 Rapide, 2014-2016 Vanquish, 2011-2016 V12 Vantage, and 2012-2013 V12 Zagato vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with interior door unlocking mechanisms that may not function when the vehicle has been locked from the outside. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."

Risk: If the doors cannot be opened by an occupant from inside the vehicle, they may be trapped inside, increasing their risk of injury.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Aston Martin Lagonda of North America (Aston Martin) is recalling certain model year 2014 DB9 and Rapide S vehicles manufactured June 2013 to July 2014. Due to a faulty circuit board, the transmissions in the affected vehicles may inadvertently shift to neutral without input from the driver.

Risk: If the transmission shifts to neutral, the driver will not be able to maintain speed or move the vehicle out of traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.
