Recalls
  • Electrical leakage monitoring system. Recall 11V389000 affects 67 units from 1997-2009 with faulty installation of BCM 44B electrical leakage monitoring meters. Wiring may come loose while the meter still appears operational. Risk includes electrical shock or electrocution. Dealers repair free of charge.
  • Battery equalizer fire risk. Recall 14V503000 covers 51 units from 2000-2013 with Sure Power Battery Equalizers using a potting compound that can conduct electricity after heat exposure. This may cause melting, burning, and fire risk. Dealers replace affected units free of charge.
  • Hydraulic pressure transducer. Recall 14V745000 involves 1,907 aerial devices from 1999-2014 with improper settings causing inadvertent boom movement in cold temperatures. This movement increases risk of injury. The pressure switch is replaced free of charge.
  • Outrigger interlock control system. Recall 15V473000 affects 2,514 units from 2006-2015 where the system may fail to detect proper outrigger deployment, risking boom instability. Dealers replace the outrigger interlock module free of charge.
  • Engine compartment cable damage. Recall 24V015000 covers 437 AT Series aerial devices from 2004-2023 with cables that may contact the hood causing damage and a short circuit, increasing fire risk. Cables and fuse blocks are inspected and relocated free of charge.
  • Boom raise spool shifting. Recall 21V409000 involves 1,977 units from 2005-2021 where lower and upper boom raise spools can shift after control release. This unintended movement increases injury risk. Fix includes installing a jumper hose, check valve, and replacing the blocking cartridge at no cost.
  • Air brake system pressure protection. Recall 19V483000 covers 957 vehicles from 2003-2019 with missing pressure protection valves in accessory air components. This defect may lead to service brake pressure loss increasing crash risk. Dealers inspect and repair free of charge.
  • Platform leveling yoke failure. Recall 18V110000 affects 18,000 units from 1997-2017 with potential platform leveling yoke failures that could cause occupants to fall. Owners receive inspections and yokes are realigned or replaced free of charge.

Owners dealing with repeated repairs or unresolved recall issues related to these defects may have rights under their state’s lemon law. Consulting legal resources regarding vehicle safety recalls and lemon law protections can provide guidance.

SERVICE BRAKES, AIR

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2003-2019 Altec TA45, TA50, TA55, TA60, L37, L39, LRV, LR7, A-T40C, T40P and AP45 vehicles equipped with air-cushioned pintle hitch and/or accessory air components. The accessories utilizing chassis air supply may be missing pressure protection valves. The accessory lines may not prevent service brake line pressure loss due to failure or leakage in the accessory air system. Additionally, the air cushioned pintle hook may have been connected to the incorrect air lines. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."

Risk: Loss of service brake pressure can increase the risk of a crash.

2006 ALTEC AERIAL DEVICE

18000 vehicles affected

18V110000

EQUIPMENT

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 1997-2017 LRV, and LR7 Aerial devices. The platform leveling yoke may fail, possibly causing an occupant to fall from the platform.

Risk: Failure of the platform leveling yoke can cause the occupant of the platform to fall out, increasing their risk of injury.

2006 ALTEC AERIAL DEVICE

2514 vehicles affected

15V473000

EQUIPMENT

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain model year 2006-2015 Aerial Devices manufactured from June 1, 2006, through April 1, 2015. The affected aerial devices outrigger interlock control system may not detect proper deployment of the outriggers, allowing for instability of the boom.

Risk: If the aerial device is operated while the outrigger is not properly deployed it can cause instability of the boom, increasing the risk of person injury or death.
