2019 ALFA ROMEO GIULIA Complaints and Recall Information

The 2019 ALFA ROMEO GIULIA has 4 complaints and 13 recalls filed with NHTSA. Owners most frequently report sudden engine shutdowns accompanied by service electronic throttle control warnings and engine fault codes. The vehicle may lose all power including brakes and power steering without warning, creating hazardous driving conditions.

Common Issues
  • Engine shutdown. The engine abruptly stops while driving or idling, often triggered by a service electronic throttle control warning and the illumination of the engine light.
  • Low fuel pressure code. Engine fault code P008A appears concurrent with the shutdowns, indicating low fuel pressure problems.
  • Total power loss. Engine shutdown causes loss of power steering and braking, disabling essential vehicle functions.
  • Fuel pump failure. The fuel pump and its control module need replacement due to malfunction, with parts back-ordered and unavailable at dealerships.
  • Repeated issues. The engine shutdown and fuel pump failures have occurred multiple times with temporary repairs that fail shortly thereafter.

There are 13 recalls affecting various components and safety systems including fuel delivery, braking, airbags, labels, and electrical systems. The recalls address critical safety defects that may impair vehicle operation and crash prevention capabilities.

Recalls
  • Fuel pump failure. Recall 25V586000 affects 53,849 vehicles. The fuel pump may fail causing a loss of fuel flow and drive power, increasing crash risk. The cure is pending with remedy development underway. Interim notifications will be sent, and owners can contact FCA customer service.
  • Tire label correction. Recall 24V512000 covers 9,037 vehicles. Incorrect tire size and pressure information on placards may lead to under-inflation or wrong tire installation, raising crash risk. Corrected labels are mailed with dealer installation available for free.
  • Seat belt sensor defect. Recall 24V510000 affects 337,128 vehicles. Improper seat belt buckle sensor connections might prevent front airbags from deploying as intended, increasing injury risk. Dealers will repair connections at no cost.
  • Brake pedal assembly. Recall 24V943000 involves 2,021 vehicles. Improper assembly of the fastener can cause the brake pedal to detach from the booster, potentially losing brake function. Dealers will inspect and repair as needed for free.
  • Brake system software. Recall 23V382000 for 719 vehicles addresses excessive clamp force in brakes leading to rotor fractures and decreased braking. Dealers will update brake system software free of charge.
  • Adaptive cruise control issue. Recall 19V148000 targets 19,114 vehicles. Brake System Module software may prevent disabling adaptive cruise control after wheel slip detection, raising crash risk. Dealers will update software for free.
  • Fuel gauge inaccuracy. Recall 19V551000 affects 21,914 vehicles. Body Control Module may show false fuel levels above actual, which can cause the vehicle to stall from running out of fuel. Dealers will update software free of charge.

Owners repeatedly facing these engine, fuel system, and safety-related defects should be aware they might have rights under their state’s lemon law. Persistent unresolved issues and ongoing recall notifications warrant careful documentation and consideration of legal options.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

My engine shut off and I was entering my driveway. All the electric was fine. The vehicle would no longer start. I towed it to the dealer and was told that the fuel pump and a module for the fuel pump would have to be replaced. The dealer cannot find the part anywhere because it is on back order. Apparently this is happening a lot. This should be investigated for a safety recall due to it happening while I was driving.
